And California ruins almost every start time for major sporting events (Super Bowl is the exception).  Learn to DVR out there, yo.  We'll be sure out here in the East to not tell you if Dewey beat Truman - deal?

3 weeks 2 days ago Agree EGD

Some of his comments about college athletics are common talking points on this blog. I find from reading the article, he’d agree with much of what people argue here. I think the spirit of his article is to remind people that with a student athlete, the student should come first. We know that isn’t always the case. Since his article was about the joy and exuberance that Loyola basketball has brought to the students, he didn’t go into a ton of detail about who “big time college programs” are. That wasn’t the point of his article, just a point of student athlete advocacy he felt he could make. Again, we make the same exact points here.

4 weeks 6 days ago The rotation issues are

The rotation issues are valid. The misuse of roster management is valid. I just wonder based on the ESPN draft eval of JJJ, how he would have done under a five out system like Beilein’s. Kid is very athletic and it really sucks watching him be misused and underplayed.

The ESPN draft eval on JJJ and Bridges is pretty damning to Izzo. It reads like a “game has passed him by” piece. There is some validity to that conversation for sure.

5 weeks 4 days ago I am kind of enjoying this

I am kind of enjoying this thread. It didn’t go as OP intended because reading comprehension and all, but this is fun.

Yup. The all time stuff is more fun.

Rose played SG and SF in the NBA, so not unreasonable.

PG - Magic Johnson

SG - Michael Jordan

SF - Lebron James

PF - Dennis Rodman

C - Bill Russell

Probably not a bad idea. I included Hubbard because the guy could just rebound all day long. With sharpshooters all over, he would likely be an OREB machine earning his minutes.

5 weeks 4 days ago I’d take

PG - Jalen Rose

SG - Nik Stauskas

SF - Glen Rice

PF - Chris Webber

C - Phil Hubbard

5 weeks 6 days ago MSU has to love drawing Duke

MSU has to love drawing Duke in their region. Izzo and his shiny 1-11 record versus Duke has to give them warm fuzzies.

North Carolina looks poised for a National Title run. Would love to play spoiler. I have no idea who I’d pick for the Final Four and may only do a bracket based on my rooting interests. I know this is bad, but when I’ve done one like that before it makes watching the games more fun because I can cheer for who I want.

6 weeks 17 hours ago The Fuck?

Who fucking cares? This thread is fucking bad and you should feel fucking bad. I can’t believe I fucking clicked on this fucking thread.

6 weeks 3 days ago When Glen died, and they

When Glen died, and they split the primary group up into completely different settlements, that is when it started becoming really muddy to wade through. I’ve watched it all and this season has really started to make me think - “Should I just stop recording each episode?”

At points I’ve wondered why they don’t just cut their losses and drive off to a location away from the Savior domain. This would leave Negan in place for a possible later date and would put the core group back in place. I think the Negan/Savior thing has run its course and it’s time to just move on. Either kill him or get away from him. Just too many subplots going on right now to keep it interesting.

6 weeks 6 days ago I think the key point to this

I think the key point to this team, and ties in with your post, is that Michigan has so much depth. Even in the terrible Iowa game officiated so poorly, Michigan found a way to win with their three best players on the bench for half the game. In years past, this would have almost certainly spelled death. Each piece of Michigan’s roster brings a unique skill set to the court, and Beilein has figured out how and when to use them. They are an incredibly fun team to watch.

7 weeks 15 hours ago Very impressive game. They

Very impressive game. They are having so much fun and it is enjoyable to watch. The announcers were fawning all over the defensive performance of Michigan. These four tournament games are ones to remember!

7 weeks 1 day ago I’d guess a five seed based

I’d guess a five seed based on today. If we wound up a four seed it doesn’t really change our bracket that much. As a five we’d play the four in the round of 32. As a four we’d play the five in the round of 32. I doubt we get to a three seed which is the only thing that would shift our bracket enough to be interesting. I really doubt we end up a six seed which would have the same effect as being a three seed. At this point, I’m just enjoying watching them play.

Fuck these refs

7 weeks 3 days ago Get MAAR and Wagner back for

Get MAAR and Wagner back for the second half. Unless Iowa can keep shooting 55% from two and three, we should be fine. Less Matthews and more MAAR, Wagner, and Robinson please. Start hitting threes please.

Pretty much Dennis is a known troll. Should just nuke his account already.

At halftime, they had dogs catching frisbees at the Rutgers game. Baby steps towards a full on monkey rodeo, but still closer to monkey rodeo.

9 weeks 3 days ago Except...

It has not been purged from the national media -

http://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/22457780/michigan-state-freshman...

This was posted about 7:00 PM EST.  This will not go away as quietly as certain folks at MSU would hope.  Engler threw coals on the fire by calling out ESPN specifically.  While true the local media will likely bury this - MSU just picked a fight with a company that doesn't have a whole lot on their plate right now as far as broadcasting.  Good luck with that.

10 weeks 2 days ago The suites also have carved

The suites also have carved prime rib or carved turkey sandwiches. They run about $11. There’s also a weekly special depending on opponent. When they played Colorado for instance, they served bison burgers. Wisconsin was a brat burger with sauerkraut and cheese.

10 weeks 4 days ago I do care though. I wouldn’t

I do care though. I wouldn’t click on the thread if I didn’t. It’s just the moody narrative that gets old. There are some really great players that we signed to this class and nutpunch as a descriptor is pretty shitty.

We were 19th in national rankings, brought in the top rated quarterback from 2016 as a transfer, and filled some positions with some electric players. 2019 recruiting is off to a phenomenal start. There’s no need for sorrow right now.

10 weeks 4 days ago Yet here we are. In this

Yet here we are. In this thread. When this was already discussed on the front page. Because emotions.

10 weeks 4 days ago I am honored to have that

I am honored to have that distinction.

10 weeks 4 days ago Prediction:

Joe Milton will win two National Championships, the Heisman twice, 8 Super Bowls, 14 NFL MVP awards, and will be the first player to enter the Hall of Fame while also still actively playing.

Am I doing this right?

10 weeks 4 days ago My god, read the front page

My god, read the front page post about recruiting. This was not a great haul overall, but in the context of situational pieces I think we will have a few pleasant surprises. When you take 60 players over a two year span, it tends to make you less attractive to recruits. We’ll be fine. The world has not ended.

10 weeks 6 days ago Putt4Birdie

You seem like a fun guy.
