"He makes it really easy on you as a coach because he has tremendous football instincts," Michigan tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh said. "Things come really naturally to him. He doesn't have to see things too many times. He has a good sense for how things should look and feel, and he's a tough, physical guy."

"Should Edsall be fired prior to Jan. 15, 2017 – when his initial contract ends – the school would pay him a $2.6 million buyout ($2.1 million from his original contract with an additional $500,000 coming from his extension)."

I agree with you that I'm not that disappointed. If you were to pick an opponent to go super vanilla with your play calling, force them to cram the box, and still manage to gain over 200 yards rushing - it would be UNLV.
The stat line from Ozone about Rudock's completed passes by yards at catch - 1, 3, 1, -2, 4, etc.. weren't really shocking either. It would almost seem like Harbaugh was baiting them to load the box and never made them pay for it. I'd be willing to bet that he has some 10 to 15 yard pass plays in mind to widen the running lanes for our resident bowling ball.

In my perception it was less than last week. I'd expect that you won't get away from it 100%, but the timing and duration of those moments could improve somewhat.

I wish I had a picture and some super mad math skills, cause I would totally prove my point. As such, it looked to me that it was proportionally full. Take it FWIW, but I thought for a noon UNLV game the student attendance and participation was above my expectation.
|2 weeks 22 hours ago||The people behind me were||
The people behind me were complaining that the student section wasn't full. I did point out to them that the bottom 30 rows were overfilled with students. The students were standing in the aisles in those bottom 30 rows. There were also students at the bottom couple rows standing sideways. I was impressed for a noon game that the student section was full for UNLV.

I was there today and the music was toned down some, comparative to last week. The students got a wave started, then got a slow motion wave going quite successfully, and then a super speed wave going. I really enjoyed the game day experience today.

Given the redshirt discussion from last week, I think you're right. I guess we'll see what happens based on the outcome tomorrow.

If this turns out how it's projected, does Rudock stay in the whole game? Do we see Speight? Do we see Morris? I'll be curious how this pans out.

That botched pass interference call was pretty bad too. One of the highlights for me was when a ref slipped and fell, the fans met it with thunderous applause. There were some bad calls this game.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Your assertion is a strange||
Your assertion is a strange one Sten. It isn't based on anything tangible that can be discussed as to why, yet you make the bold claim that it is the worst. Then you carry on throughout the post defending your bold optimism with speculation that teams under new coaches get better. This is not always the case (see the last 3 previous Notre Dame coaches for an equivalent discussion) and that always washes itself out.
I'm on the Harbaugh bandwagon, as I think most are. What we saw Thursday night was a combination of several things.
Add these things up, and I wouldn't call their performance the worst. [This is the point where I interject an excuse about interceptions or overthrown passes and then the discussion turns back to opinion.]
In the grand scheme of things, I would be willing to bet that after 50 games under Harbaugh, that this might be a better discussion because then we will have facts to talk about to pair with our emotions. At the end of the day, that's really all this discussion is about - your emotional state after Thursday night's game. What you're finding is that not only is that not quantifiable, but is also an exercise in futility because the comments are all conjecture based responses.
I will say this though, if your exercise was to gauge the temperature of the fanbase after the loss, then you have given us a barometer with which to discuss. Thanks for posting even if not all appreciated it.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||The problem is, you can't||
The problem is, you can't predict what new coaching will do. None of us can. If you had told people that the year after we were in the 100's in defense we'd go to a 30's ranked squad, we'd have called you a delusional homer.
This is above all other reasons why I am excited for this season. Football has many variables and sometimes a golden horseshoe up your ass wins you a Sugar Bowl - sometimes that golden horseshoe dislodges itself and you find yourself 5-7 out of a job. The biggest variable was changed this year - coaching. We'll find out soon enough if the recruiting evaluations were done poorly or sufficiently in the last few years.
I'm going on the 8-5 or 9-4 bandwagon. At this point it is just a baseless guess, just as your pessimistic outlook is.

Probably correct, given that the three CB's offered and taken since June are all 6' or taller in height. St. Juste, Richardson, and now Scott. Probably in the Champ Bailey mold type CB.

I think you are correct about the "driver" in the front seat. Probably near the end of my lifetime or sometime after it, but it's mostly a pleasant though for future generations.

As someone who is legally blind, I will open this can of worms. I don't hold a current license in my state to drive. I can see in front of me but my peripheral vision is not there (6 degrees of central vision left). I fancy that this would be an option for me, but realize that in certain situations this might actually require you to be able to drive and carry a valid license.
I open this to the board knowing that your honesty will be valued, and I won't be butthurt if you give me your honest opinion. Throw PC out the window, what do you think about this car in an application that applies to me?

Five years from now (maybe sooner) we will know whether these camps/under radar recruits were a stroke of mad genius or just a filling of the roster. I'm with the guy above that "in Harbaugh I trust."

|22 weeks 1 day ago||Eh. Probably not the worst||
Eh. Probably not the worst argument, but right up there with some of them. The thing that is missing in his/her argument is that there should be some consideration for Pete Carroll's decision based on his current position. If you consider what Pete Carroll might know, determine that he might have drafted another at that pick that was a better fit, then make a logical argument as to why, then that really is the point of a message board, no?
All that was really said was that Frank Clark was drafted too high - which does not consider the things that Seattle might be dealing with in this draft or in the near future. Example of that being Indianapolis - they picked a wide receiver in the first round after signing Andre Johnson. Also have TY Hilton on the roster. Reason being that Andrew Luck is up soon for a massive contract, as well as Hilton up for a decent pay increase, and Johnson is a short term sign. It makes sense if you look at the overall team future, but the immediate reaction is to wonder why they picked a WR.
