Lived in Abu Dhabi for 2 years. Pretty much what Windy City Blue stated if you're there for only a few days. There are other things to check out in terms of the more opulent stuff - Ferrari World, Atlantis/Palm.
Def do the desert dune things, that's a blast, there are even tours that extend overnight.
As for watching Michigan games, the Middle East Alumni group has a Facebook page, they usually have gatherings for games that either someone will host or one of the bars/restaurants I want to say its called Original Rings and Wings but def check the group as things might change.
Is what I'd bet my govt deployed salary in Afghanistan on. All M-Ohio games I've been to at the Big House started at noon. Only 3:30 game was down at their place
The free lots you speak of - last time we played a night game at NW, these lots were pretty much empty and first come first serve on gameday. Keep in mind that you'll also be sharing the lots with campus workers, students, anyone else parking there. Theres a lot directly across from their business school where we parked at last time that was majority tailgaters. Keep in mind that's a 15-20min walk to stadium from campus. If you're not tailgating, then def do the park and metro it.
Do you know which yellow lot? I'll have a yellow lot pass myself. Not sure if I'll get there at 9am but plan to leave DC around 8 which should put me there by 11:30 or so.
I'm driving up solo from DC Saturday morning and looking to tailgate. I know the alumni assoc has one but that doesn't start until 5. If anyone has room for 1 more Michigan alum it'd be greatly appreciated. I can chip in and provide additional food/beverage as well. Respond here or email me at [email protected]
JClay - where are you heading up from - I"m in the Arlington area and heading to the game solo myself. You heading up Saturday morning or Friday night? Could form a mini-caravan depending on when you're leaving. I was thinking Saturday morning but I too am also looking to find a tailgate to join as well.
