Agree with others - I think…

Agree with others - I think harbaugh would have left if we won a national championship which he thought he would this year so he started talking, now he is in contract negotiations to see what he can get so no surprise he has not shut the door - I also think we will be fine if he leaves, Moore and others seems to be on the rise and will get HC offers elsewhere if not forthcoming here, would rather they stay

the big pharma argument is

the big pharma argument is garbage because there are just as many scum bags if not more lining their pockets pushing the autism argument and other "holistic" treatments, also it not just the US  but many other countries where because of their nationalized health systems big pharma is not as powerful that are pushing vaccinations as well

Auburn was 85th in total

Auburn was 85th in total defense, 41st in points allowed.  UM's offsense was 84th in total offense and 39th in points scored.  It kind of proves the point that youth is the main cause.

I can't wait to watch the

I can't wait to watch the Texas Chili Bowl.

Please Mgoblog community,

Please Mgoblog community, please do not rip into Shane if he plays poorly, he is a freshman, he will improve and has not started a game in 2 years.  Some rust / trying to hard type play is expected.

I am still optimistic about

I am still optimistic about where the program is headed.  I do think the youth on the line is THE main issue, MSU has 3 5th year seniors on the line but also not only the starters but also back ups.  MSU can rotate bodies in, keep bashing away and wear down defenses.   Borges certainly has made mistakes (I remember Carr's crew making quite a few and some folks calling for heads to roll in 2006) but just seeing him over his career, he is flexible and adapts, this is not DeBord 2.0.    However, one other issue is Gardner, he keeps allowing 1 mistake to turn into 2, 3 etc.  To me, it seems all mental, maybe they need a sports psychologist or a full time QB coach.

I remember an Ohio game in

I remember an Ohio game in 2002 against Cincinnati, and not the recent decent Cincinnati teams, it was the older "Cincinnati has a football team?" type teams.  Cincinnati had the ball late close to the goal down by 4 with less than a mintue, and Ohio had to stop 4 plays into the end zone that they very narrowly did.  My wife (an Ohio fan) watched nervously (and I with glee) - afterward my wife said "I guess they are not very good."  It terms out that 2002 OSU team ended up being alright.

Hoke only needs to make sure

Hoke only needs to make sure he brings these items to guarantee victory:

1) Jeremy Gallon's Cloak of Invisibility

2) Junior's Flying Duck Catching Gloves (now owned by Devin)

3) Mattison's ND QB Mind Blowing Turnover Voodoo Doll

4) 2 Extra Packs of Pahokee-brand Dilithium

5) Borges Patented ND Cornerback Complete Meltdown Spray

Unfortunately for us, these have been banned in the state of Texas.

Auburn has 6 OL recruits

Auburn has 6 OL recruits already, Iowa's program is falling apart with no staff stability (one of the old selling points) it is hard to know what could happen there,

At a huge position of need, Kozan could start day 1, to me this is an easy choice, hopefully he arrives at the same conclusion.

Money was not the motivation

Money was not the motivation for the family, although I would be surprised if they did not get something.  ND has this damage control down to a science, they did everything they could do to make the family feel at "home" with ND, including the special mass with people from his dorm with glasses like he wore, the declan scholarship, etc.

ND provided a choice, hang on to your anger and fight us & we take the memorializing stuff away or move on & let his death have "special meaning" (& ND save a load of $$$).

It is terrible & most ND alums I know are not happy about it, I think if Kelly was a 3rd yr coach with a 10-20 record, he would be gone but the people who have power at that school frankly do want to win again and are willing to have some rules bent to win.  If ND was still at the top of the college football world, then they would hold their head high but I think there is a feeling that they have been beaten down for a while & firing kelly would just send the program into 2/3 more years of oblivion & they dont want to do it even if it means scarificing some morals, it is sad b/c I always thought that ND was one of the cleaner programs, guess that's changed.

At least we have 1 top 10

At least we have 1 top 10 football team.  Time for dancing muppets - soccer version!

I always want OSU to be

I always want OSU to be undefeated going into The Game, when I was on campus ('94-'98), that was a sure sign that Michigan would win.

Yes - bowl eligible keeps him

Yes - bowl eligible keeps him safe this year, we return almost the whole offense next year, plus all freshman seconday + injured players coming back should be better next year, should make bowl eligibility easy next year.  M is not the SEC, we give coaches time, remember we gave Amaker 6 years w/o an NCAA bid.

This is the type of win that

This is the type of win that can turn a program around.  Now with RR's job safe for another year (likely 2+ with the talent returning next year) - the commitments should start flowing in as well.

How much class did RR should in not putting Denard out there with concussion risk?  Going with your backup in a critical, close game shows he cares about his kids.  Most coaches (esp Dantonio who put kids with actual concussions out there, or B Kelly w/ Crist this year) would not have done that.   This does not get called out enough.

I would keep GERG, the 3-3-5

I would keep GERG, the 3-3-5 debacle at PSU was clearly the WVU-crew intervening.  Now I think Tony Gibson's job security should be more of a debate.  When GERG has been able to run his own hybrid system (Iowa, ND), the defense looks better.  I think GERG needs to get more of his guys in place, so all of the defensive staff is on the same page.

Overall I think our defense was not THAT bad - the offense had 5 turnovers, putting the D in some very bad spots, I would say 14-17 points were the offense putting us in bad position.

Now if we dump the defensive staff and pull in the coaches from TCU or other top place, I would not protest.

I agree: let's not forget -

I agree: let's not forget - Molk, Martin out for much of the game.  There were 7/8 freshman on the field for us on certain plays - yet we were close to knocking off top 15 team despite numerous unforced errors.  Those freshman will be better, if we get Molk & Martin back for PSU we can do some real damage.

I just wish the coaches would show a little more flexibility in game plan, Iowa with an extra week will of course be ready for Denard, I would have started Tate earlier, especially since their pass D is weaker than run D.  Would have also put Campbell in a little on D just given the Iowa O-line size - would have done these with MSU also.  Of course, I have earned cumulatively $0 coaching college ball.

I think the coaches would be

I think the coaches would be smart to install a round of passing packages with Forcier.  Like MSU, Iowa will be well prepared for Denard & a couple of series w/ Tate would throw them off (like Denard did last year until the INT).

Not sure why the coaches did not do this against MSU, the pass was there, Tate is at least the more experienced passer we have.

TGFF - thank God for Forcier,

TGFF - thank God for Forcier, as awesome as Denard is, coaches should really consider installing a few Tate packages & have in come in a few series against some teams, I think Tate could take advantage of weaknesses in MSU's seconday while the whole Spartan defense will be prep'ed for Denard.

I would not draw too many

I would not draw too many conclusions about IU based on 3 cupcakes, their guys were probably down for those games like our guys for UMass, they'll be jacked up for this one + they get their best defensive player back for this one - I expect another nailbiter.

I hope our team does not look

I hope our team does not look past UMass,  we are clearly not good enough to slack off on D vs. Umass, they could have one of the better pass offenses we have faced - UMass was only 6 spots lower than JMU in the national poll before JMU beat Virginia Tech and VT was ranked #13.

Great win but we have not

Great win but we have not really faced a team yet to take advantage of the weakness in our secondary because either they kept dropping balls (Uconn) or had eye problems (ND).  Real test will come when a few teams go 5 wide/empty backfield on us.  Linebacker play was huge in this game - massive improvement vs last year (GERG must be doing something right here).  But safety play (noticing disturbing trend here this year & last), tackling (huge # of misses this game), and covering tight ends (same as Iowa last year) - need big improvement.   Note to GERG: please don't go to a prevent defense ever again!

Thank You, Mr. Roh

Bear in mind, a lot of Buckeye, Spartan fans, etc read and post on this blog as well. Some of the nastier posts & fire RR diatribes could easily be from them, wanting UM to spend a few more years in the wilderness of implementing yet another system.

By the way, RR will have atleast 4 full years to turn around the program, it is the only way to fully evaluate him & this team has made enormous progress vs. last year.
