O'Brien rowed crew while at U of M. He wrote for (created?) the anti-daily, which was the every-three-weekly before there was an every-three-weekly (might be before some your times).
Also, when he and his roommates knew that a real estate agent was coming to show their house to possible renters for the next year, they would pretend to be sleep, lying naked on top of ther beds then BAM, the agent plus prospective tenants would walk in, "wake up" O'Brien and crew. Their landlords loved them.
Mariotta is a system quaterback. I just don't see him succeeding in the pros. He doesn't take snaps from under center, no 3 step drop, etc. Of course he can learn it (or if the Eagles can grab him) but I think Winston (putting aside character issues) is the more sure fire prospect.
Going in the late first round would be great for Funchess. Let him fit into a team/system where he can ease in. Let's hope he steps it up.
Griese play action bootlet to Tuman was my favorite play that season. We ran it so many times and it seemed like everytime it was a completion for a first down. Tuman was such an asset to have. It annoyed the crap out of me that he was utilized mostly in 2 TE sets while at Pittsburgh.
There was a M band playing tonight but clearly not our band. Anyone else at the game tonight know if they were just some local high school kids or something? They could barely squeak out the victors and played like only three times.
Crowd was probably 70-30% M but hard to tell with all yellow between us and Oregon. Barclays is a nice place to watch a game. Go Blue!
Re Ironman training, assuming you can swim with some competance and your knees can take it, you can get race ready in less than a year. If you are training to complete one or two, it is not that much of a drain on your time, if you get hooked, then, it can for sure cut into your life. As others have said, very early morning workouts and longer training on the weekends and you can get it done. I did Ironman Arizona in 2008 and probably that is it for me. It is an amazing experience.

One friend happens to be a new brunswick native and rutgers grad but grew up a big M fan so he will be rooting against his alma mater and for the boys in maize and blue. I think stadium is mid-40,000s. Per NYC and Fairfield County Alumni Assoc., the M block of tickets for the game sold out a long time ago. Let's see how many of those original purchasers show up.
Going to the game - post fast - so probably will get there for the second half. Sitting on the 50 upstairs with my wife and 2 friends. It is a Rutgers "blackout" game (all Rutgers fans encouraged to wear black) so I will be the guy in the bright maize shirt with my head in my hands. Couldn't pass up a local game. Hopefully by the time I get there it will be a game.
I had two tix for 3 people. Pulled into the lot and got a ticket in the same section for face from a scalper. We were a little late but it was an easy ticket.
FWIW, UConn is playing BYU and Tennessee in the next two seasons. I would definitely go back to watch another game against another national-esque brand.
Friends who got to the stadium earlier said the tailgating was light but still fun.
Stadium was fine, somewhat generic but weather was perfect and UConn fans were into the game.
Probably 1/4 of the stadium was in Maize and Blue. I was in the Michigan section under the scoreboard (temporary bleacher seats put up for the game). Michigan was driving towards us for 2nd and 4th quarter.
As noted above, the field was not in good shape. At timeouts, field crew was out trying to patch up holes (think cadies at a golf course).
The PA announcer would go "its another UConn"...and the crowd would response First Down! They also played the opening bars to Welcome to the Jungle probably 25+ times.
On the botched punt (which was coming right at us), I think it was on Dileo/staff more than the coverage team. It was clear from our perspective that Dileo was faking the catch but there was no communication with those around him (or at least pre-planning, i.e., if inside 10 yard line, get the F out of the way).
Fun to see the team out east in my home state. Happy to escape with a win. UConn fans were welcoming and friendly. Beer was flowing a plently, lots of drunk fans which amusing, especially with the stadium 1/2 hour from campus.

Potts is a super nice guy. I met him a NYC Triathlon a couple of years ago and spoke to him re Michigan. He is a huge Michigan fan and always represents the school (see photo shoot link of him in M gear - http://www.tririg.com/articles.php?id=2014_07_Andy_Potts_Custom_Kestrel_4000).
