While you cannot always use…

While you cannot always use logic when talking about 18-21 year old "kids", logic would dictate there really isn't any reason for our DT's to transfer:

  • They have already won a National Championship
  • Both are considered by many to be 1st or 2nd round picks in the 2025 draft

When you boil down why a kid transfer in this new age of NIL, NIL really isn't at the top of the list when you think about it:

  • Kids leave because the Coach has left
  • Kids leave because they don't get enough playing time
  • Kids leave because they want to win a title and don't think they can do that where they are.

Case in point, while we all talk about why Ohio State has been cleaning up in the transfer portal, it really doesn't have to do with money (as the primary reason)

  • The kid from Bama left because of a whole new staff and that Bama is probably not going to be favored to win the Natty this year, where as Ohio State has maybe one of the weakest schedules in the Big Ten and returned a lot of guys (more so that Bama)
  • The RB from Ole Miss...He wants to play for a winner and no one believes Ole Miss has a chance at a Natty.  Also, he's going to get a hell of a lot more exposure on National TV playing for OSU than Ole Miss, so a better chance to impress scouts.

Mason and Grant have accomplished all they need to in college football. Transferring to another school makes no logical sense.  The NIL money they would be paid would be of-set by their draft status (Which again, most have them both going in the first 2 rounds of the 2025).  Same goes for Will Johnson, why transfer at this point.  He has his NIL Money, he has a Title, he is more than likely the top DB taken in the 2025 draft.  What would transferring do for him?

I've actually been a big fan…

I've actually been a big fan of either eliminating kickoff's OR giving the scoring team the option of

  • A traditional Kickoff knowing that it's either a fair catch, touchback or the receiving team can returning
  • Allow the scoring team to take a 4th and 15 from their own 25 Yard line.  If they convert, they keep going, if they fail, its like turning the ball over on downs.

As for allowing the scoring team to take a 4th and 15, what I am not sure of is that do you allow that for the entirety of the game or like only under 2 minutes before the half and at the end of the game.  I could be swayed either way.

I think a 4th and 15 is great because it is just far enough that you aren't going to see a team like the Chiefs keep the ball all game long.  Most likely teams are just going to "Go for It" when the game is on the line.  This would also eliminate the Onside Kick which has like less that a 1% chance of success and is basically a formality.

Another rule I have thought of is that if you want to still keep the kicker relevant, what about allowing for 2 points should the kicker be able to put the ball between the uprights on a kickoff?  Why not reward the position for having a strong kicker (Justin Tucker comes to mind)

Agree to disagree.  Deboer…

Agree to disagree.  Deboer was absolutely available.  There were reports for a while that Washington was not going to be able to keep him due to $$$.

As for pick of almost all coaches, again I ask, who...Those coaches i listed are arguably the best in the country and non of them were leaving their schools.  They would have leveraged Michigan for more money.

Also, lets not be naive...Michigan was ONLY offering that kind of money because it was Jim Harbaugh.  Case in point, Moore isn't even getting half of what Jim was offered on a per year basis. That money was only for Jim, full stop

Everyone bitching about…

Everyone bitching about hiring Moore, please tell us , who the hell were we going to hire then?  The only coach that was really even available was KD and he went to Bama.

  • Kirby Smart wasn't leaving Georgia
  • Sark wasn't leaving Texas
  • I don't think Riley was even an option nor would we have wanted him.
  • Saban aint coming out of retirement
  • No one wants Dabo anymore outside of Clemson as his religious shtick isn't working anymore

So please, tell me who in the hell could we have hired...Lance Leipold?  Are you joking, a guy that has only 4 winning seasons in his career?  Matt Campbell, he's fallen off the face of the earth.

Lets get real, there was NO else to hire because Jim did the same fucking song and dance he has been doing for years.  Yeah, he won us an National Title and all of us will always be grateful for that, but he also dicked around for years about this NFL gig, straight up LIED that he was done looking after last season, and strung us all along yet again with the Chargers job.

Both things can be true, they aren't mutually exclusive.  Jim can be the hero we all wanted but he also fucked us a lot along the way too.

He keeps saying that but…

He keeps saying that but that's just not how the NFL or any of the Major Sports leagues work.   If you're the best player in college that year, you are going to the worst team, that's why they have drafts.

Hell, 2 of the supposed teams he wants to play for could never get him (Dallas and San Fran) because they aren't going to be anywhere near the top of the draft order, nor do they even have the capital to make a trade of that magnitude.   The Chicago Bears, who will most likely pick at #1, would ask for at a minimum 4 years of #1 picks + from those 2 teams because their 1st round picks aren't as valuable because they usually drafter later in the first round.

He can puff his chest all he wants, he isn't turning down $40M+ guaranteed to go #1.  NIL money aint NFL and NFL endorsement money...

On paper, its a hell of a…

On paper, its a hell of a schedule but if you take a step back, as some others have pointed out:

  • USC loses Caleb Williams
  • Washington loses Michael Penix
  • Oregon loses Bo Nix
  • Michigan State is pure trash right now
  • Texas may or may not have Ewers as QB and if he does go, then its Arch Manning in what would be is 2 or 3 start ever as a College QB

So, by no means am I thinking this is an easy slate of games, but 4 out of the 5 lose their star QB for next season.  Granted, so do we (most likely) BUT of all the top QB's that could come back, JJ strikes me as one that would.

Got to say this 100%  It…

Got to say this 100%  It looked very well like Michigan only prepared for the Bulldogs and caught looking ahead.

This is the year to win it all as we basically 1 of 2 Top teams returning a starting QB (USC being the other).   Honestly, with all of the firepower we have on offense there is NO reason we don't return to the playoffs and should absolutely be playing for the National Championship.

They key is really going to be moving to more of a 50/50 Run/Pass ratio on offense and not the 60/40 Run/Pass ratio.  Also, now we more depth at QB, JJ has got to keep the ball on the Arc Read at least 1 time per quarter to keep the defense honest keying on the RB.

He is kind of a poor mans…

He is kind of a poor mans Deandre Ayton.   If Kofi can develop that 15ft elbow shot, no reason he cannot stay in the league 10+ years.

They key is he needs to be drafted to the right team.  Take the Bulls for example, Vuc is god awful defensively and if he isn't hitting shots, he is almost un playable.  But with how Chicago's roster is constructed, Kofi in the middle, with 4 out, that solves their rebounding and middle defense issue.  Also when they go through slumps, they can throw it down low.  I think Kofi, who clearly works hard on his body, could lose some bulk, and increase his athleticism could be a very serviceable big depending on the team he is on.

Is Georgia a better team,…

Is Georgia a better team, absolutely.  How many games if we played 10 does Michigan win, probably 2-3 at the most.

I'm not saying we could have won, but what I saw from Georgia and from talking to hardcore Georgia fans, I felt we were not prepared enough.  Granted I have no idea when JJ got hurt but here is what I saw and wish we would have done differently:

  • Georgia barely threw to their RB's all season yet in this game they had 11 receptions for over 200 yards and 1 TD
    • So this was a "new wrinkle" to the Bulldogs offense and accounted for almost 40% of their offense)
  • Michigan's glaring issues all year reared their ugly heads
    • Cade NEVER keeps on the arch read so the defender never has to even check him.  If he had kept on 3-4 arc reads a game during the season, this is something Georgia would have needed to account for
    • We basically never aired it out, outside of the Michigan state game.  There was no way in hell we were ever going to beat Georgia the same way we beat everyone in the Big Ten.  That should have been the focus for the month off in between games
    • We had a bad habit of having someone have a break out game and then barely using them again: Edwards vs Rutgers, Anthony vs MSU.
    • We still don't run enough short/quick routes like the quick slant.  Anthony took one to the house against MSU, barely saw that play again.

Now, I am not saying that if we did all these things we could have won the game, but probably sure as hell wouldn't have been a national embarrassment.  I know its hard to change an offensive philosophy with a month to prepare, but lets be real, how hard is to run out a 3-4 wide with your fastest players to match up with the speed of an SEC team:  Wilson, Johnson, Anthony on the outside, All lined up inline (chipping and release valve) and then rotate Edwards/Haskins/Corum.  In a game against Georgia where speed is a premium, Edwards, despite being a freshman, was probably the best weapon in the backfield and then splitting out wide when going no backs.

I have to agree here.  I am…

I have to agree here.  I am proud of everything Michigan athletics has accomplished this year, as it may be one of the best years in Michigan sports history.

However, the flip side of that coin is that we seemed to have had off nights/choked on the biggest stages possible:

  • Women's gymnastics and the falls on the bars
  • Men's BB couldn't hit water if they fell out of the boat (missed 19 shots within 5 feet of the rim) against Nova
  • Women's BB looked like anyone not named Naz was scared as hell to shoot and had no answer for Louisville press
  • Football team looked like they didn't watch an ounce of film on Georgia

Yes, they were all playing elite competition in those events, but still, we seemed to completely forget fundamentals during those times.

So...proud for all we did but frustrated that we didn't accomplish more.

This would be a fantastic…

This would be a fantastic pick up, if Howard chooses to pursue.  We really don't have a 2 guard currently as we just don't know what to expect from Kobe.

If we could land Pack (Howard can basically sell him on coming right in an starting, 5 straight Sweet 16's and more national games/attention than he would ever get at K-State) then we would have a projected line up of Collins/Pack/Williams/Houstan/Moussa.

Now, this also depends on if Houstan and Moussa leave.  After that tournament showing, I can't imagine either would leave, but who the hell knows with these kids today.  If they were to stay, our depth would be pretty interesting because now we would have Kobe/Jett/Reed coming off the bench.

Then we have 2 additional options in Barnes and Glenn.

Now those are very fair…

Now those are very fair points, but Moose and Caleb, to an extent, have proven to be very capable defenders and with their length, should cause some problems on the wings.

In the 2018 game, it was 1…

In the 2018 game, it was 1 guy that killed us, DiVincenzo.  He went off for 31 points and channeled his inner Steph Curry, hitting 3's from anywhere on the court.

I keep hearing this "Nova…

I keep hearing this "Nova plays 5 out" but if you dig into their stats, most of their 3's come from the guards (Gillespie, Moore and Daniels) and really its most Gillespie and Moore.  Dixon, Samuels and Slater are their "Bigs" (and that's a misnomer as they are 6'7 and 6'8) barely shoot 2 3's a game.   So, they technically play "5 out" but its not a real 5 out offense as the "bigs" don't really shoot the 3 ball.

Nova has absolutely NO answer for Hunter in the low post.  They are giving up 5 inches and 40lbs to him, no matter who they throw at him.   They can hide Hunter defensively by running some more zone and Moose can really cover some ground.  Hunter should be getting them into foul trouble very early as Nova really only goes 6 deep in their rotation.  Guy # 7 plays only 10 minutes a game.

Just a terrible end to…

Just a terrible end to Brucki's lone season in AA.  I had really high hopes for him this weekend, especially with AJ Ferrari out of the tournament.   He just didn't wrestle well at all.

Williams is not a 2 Guard in…

Williams is not a 2 Guard in this offense.  More than likely its going to be Frankie Collins at the point and Eli as the combo guard.

This sucks for Jones as he was really turning it on the past few weeks, but its also a great opportunity for Frankie.

If, and a BIG IF, Frankie can play under control, it opens up a lot of different possibilities.  His speed is undeniable and will really be able to break down the defense in a way Jones sometimes can struggle with.

If they can, I would really like to see some time with Collins at the Point and Moose at the 5.  That could be a "Lob City" kind of offense.

With our size advantage in this game, if we had to lose Jones for a game, this would be the game to do it.

Then what would you call it?…

Then what would you call it?  I call it gutless when you blow a 17 point lead against a team you are dominating.  I call it gutless when you get punched in the mouth and basically shit yourself, which is what they did.

If they want to play Big Boy…

If they want to play Big Boy basketball, rake in NIL money and go on to the NBA, then this comes with the territory.

Its one thing to go out there, give it all you got and the other team has your number.  Its another thing to go out there and perform like they just did the last 10 min of that game.  That was stupid, gutless basketball, plain and simple.  They deserve all the flack they are getting.

No idea why Collins, who…

No idea why Collins, who played great in the first half, didnt see the fucking floor in the second half, especially when Jones was shitting all over himself.

Really, no player improvement from last year outside of Hunter having more range on his shots.

Frankly, I have been on the Howard bandwagon but I might have to say that its make or break next year.  Another year like this and that's 3 very disappointing years in 4.  Its not just the losing, its the way they are losing.  Stupid mistakes, no real player improvement, terrible substitution patterns.

Juwan may honestly just be in over his head as a college head coach.

Howard cannot play for the…

Howard cannot play for the team.  Sometimes players just have to sack up and make plays.

These are 20 year olds that…

These are 20 year olds that haven't played since Sunday.  They shouldn't be this tired.  They are just mentally weak.   No amount of coaching will fix that.

Dude, sometimes players just…

Dude, sometimes players just have to play the game.  Juwan isn't the reason they can't box out or that Jones can't stay on his fucking feet.

STAY ON YOUR FUCKING FEET…

STAY ON YOUR FUCKING FEET JONES..

Man, I am 100% with you on…

Man, I am 100% with you on that one.  Just feels like tomorrow with be the exact opposite of today.

I'm just stunned how bad…

I'm just stunned how bad Caleb's home and road splits are.  His defense has greatly improved but my god man, his road shot is just awful.

It absolutely should be…

It absolutely should be Cincinnati....Hell, everyone saying A&M but what makes them special? A win over a 3 loss Florida Team?  If thats the Criteria then why not Indy then.

Can you really call Florida…

Can you really call Florida one of the 4 best teams with 3 losses.  In fact I don't get the Florida love at all.  Their best win was against Georgia and Georgia didn't beat a single ranked team this year.

Thank You and This 100%.  …

Thank You and This 100%.   We are on our 3rd OC in 6 years...The problem isn't the OC, its Harbaugh.   Despite what he said about giving Gattis the keys, its pretty clear he didn't do that.  With Gattis we still don't know what we have until Harbaugh butts the hell out of the Offense.   I think we saw a what a Gattis Offense could be in the Rutgers game.   Got to give Cade the whole off season as QB1 and remember it was a whole new offensive line and WR corp.

If the offense sputters again this year, then I will agree that perhaps a new OC is needed, but I need to see the offense sputter in a different way.  If we see the same things we have seen for 6 years, then we know, yet again, its Harbaugh not the OC making those decisions.

On the flip side, the DC needs to go.  Stop touting his stats, that fact is when the game is on the line and against the best competition, our defense is NOT GOOD, PERIOD.  It has been exposed year after year against high powered offenses.  The reason we shut down OSU in 2016 is we had NFL guys on all 3 levels.  We haven't had that since and that falls on the DC.

That's just it, what was…

That's just it, what was said, in principal is right.  Work your ass off and improve

HOWEVER, its pretty clear that Jim's Meritocracy is nothing more than complete and utter bullshit.  He picks favorites and be damned if his favorite isn't the best.   Milton over Cade and D-Mac is a perfect example.

So my point in the above is that Zack might very well already be the better player than Vastardis and perhaps he is leaving because he knows he is better, the team knows he is better, but Vastardis fits the "Jim Harbaugh" mold so he got the start.

Lets not crush the kid until we know all the facts (which we will probably never know).  But I suspect that we will see others leave because this whole concept of Meritocracy that Jim preaches is a load of crap.

Nick Saban..now here is someone that really does live meritocracy.  The guy benched Jalen Hurts in the biggest game of the year for a True Freshman because he wasn't getting it done.  Yet here at Michigan, under Harbaugh, he just refuses to bench "his guys".    Its one thing to stick with your guy and show support, when we he fails time and time again, you have to go in a different direction.

Exactly this.   Well said. …

Exactly this.   Well said.  No one is getting screwed here.  Everyone just likes to gloss over that Indy LOST to Ohio State and really, Indy should have 2 losses (go watch that Penn State Game).   Northwestern vs Ohio State is the right call.

Indiana was NOT screwed over…

Indiana was NOT screwed over.  They had their chance and lost against Ohio State.  Like it or not the purpose is to have the 2 best teams in each division play and that is Northwestern and Ohio State.

Indy is without Penix and keep in mind, Indy is lucky to only have 1 loss.  They should have lost that game against Penn State.  Penix was down/Out of Bounds before the ball broke the plane..

Cry me a river Coach K. …

Cry me a river Coach K.  Everyone is dealing with the pandemic and your team that is loaded has shit the bed 2 times (that and Illinois is VERY good this year)

What no one is talking about is what happens when Duke plays in front of NO ONE and doesn't get the advantage of those crazy whistles at Cameron.  The refs aren't influenced by the crowd noise (same with KU at Allen Field House) and now you are playing on a somewhat neutral court.

Ok but by your logic then IU…

Ok but by your logic then IU isn't that good cause they should actually have 2 losses as they won a very controversial game against Penn State in OT.  I still think Penix was out of bounds...

Explain how IU gets screwed…

Explain how IU gets screwed...They had their chance to beat Ohio State and didn't.  The point of the Conference Title is to reward the best team in the League...thats Ohio State like it or not

How does Indiana have a…

How does Indiana have a better record when they lost to Ohio State? Ohio State is undefeated and is the best team in the conference, thats not really debatable.

Really, who gives a shit if they play or don't.  Its not Michigan so I just dont care

Not to mention:

Cardale was…

Not to mention:

  • Cardale was a 3* but a Top 400 recruit and a Top 10 Ranked Pro-Style QB
  • Dan Villari, Michigan's 3rd QB, is a 3* but ranked 1200 and the 42nd Ranked Pro-Style QB

Even at Ohio State, their 3rd String QB is light years ahead of ours.

Not to mention Indiana,…

Not to mention Indiana, Notre Dame, Cinci, BYU, Iowa State, Costal Carolina, Northwestern and dozens of other teams didn't seem to have an issue with COVID.

Is this sarcasm?  There are…

Is this sarcasm?  There are plenty of teams that took COVID seriously and sure as hell don't look like a monkey fucking a football out there as Michigan does.

Correct, he is technically…

Correct, he is technically on a Wrestling scholarship, however, if I understand the rules correctly, the minute he steps onto the football field in an actual game, then his scholarship will count against the football limit, not wrestling.

This is to prevent schools from tucking football stars under different scholarship limits.  I think Miami did this back in the day, tucking RB's/WR's under track scholarship to have more players.

Personally, I don't think Gage ever plays a down considering how many RB's we have on the team, so may not matter.

If the season is able to…

If the season is able to happen, our Wolverines can legitimately challenge for the team title.  If healthy, this team is loaded:

  • Ragusin - All American Contender (yes, I believe it)
  • Micic - Title Contender
  • Myles Amine - Title Contender
  • Storr - All American Contender
  • Massa - Title Contender
  • Lewan - All American Contender
  • Parris - Title Contender

Also, watch out for Gage Garcia.  I know he is technically on a football scholarship but after watching his HS wrestling film, he will be our best option at 197 and very well could pull some upsets.  He will be a full time wrestler by end of year.

Cause Gattis ain't calling…

Cause Gattis ain't calling the plays.  This has Jim's stink all over it.  3 OCs in 6 years and the offense is still shit.  Its not the OC..

If you think its Gattis I…

If you think its Gattis I have a bridge to sell you.  Its Harbaugh. Always has been and always will be until we let him go.

Was just thinking that. …

Was just thinking that.  What the hell is all this go low at the legs bullshit.  Penn State jist steam rolling a shitty defense

You mean Harbaugh because…

You mean Harbaugh because these stupid calls have been all 6 of his years, regardless of the OC.

First, Brown needs to be…

First, Brown needs to be fired like yesterday.  Second, stop running the god damn 3-3-5.   We are getting mauled in that set.  With what we have run a 4-2-5 and be done with it.

This is a weak argument. …

This is a weak argument.  Lets not make Michigan's schedule look like we are playing the Avengers and Thanos every week.  We have been curb stomped by our elite opponents almost ever year, sans 2016.  ND almost always has an elite team equal to OSU on their schedule ever year (Clemson, Georgia for the past few years).  Fact is ND has made the playoffs twice and is looking like they will do it for a 3rd year.  That Clemson win is legit and that team, without Lawrence, would destroy every big ten team this year, that's how loaded they are.

Stop over-rating Michigan and  our schedule.  Its not great and we don't beat these supposed great teams anyways.  ND is a better program as it current stands.  That's not really debatable.

Exactly.....been saying this…

Exactly.....been saying this for a long time.  Gattis was NEVER given the fucking keys.  That shit series has Harbaugh written all over it.

Michigan...where our best…

Michigan...where our best players don't play cause Harbaugh is full of shit and Meritocracy is a made up word

We haven't done crossing…

We haven't done crossing routes in Jim's 6 years. Its not a Gattis thing...
