| 9 weeks 6 days ago | Nice to know Wojo reads MGoBlog |
From his column in the Det News today http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130315/OPINION03/303150334#ixzz2NcJF6NiM, this sentence leads the third paragraph: "It's the noise Michigan needs to hear, the guttural sound of a large man grabbing a rebound or powering to the basket." I'm sure it's complete coincidence Wojo uses the same not exactly common word, guttural, that Ace used in the opening sentence of his game recap. |

"He does it the right way -- clean -- and he adjust to his personnel. Before he had Burke, they didn't ball-screen a ton. They also used to play a ton of 1-3-1 defense and now he just sprinkles it in. He's a really good coach." Just reeks of being from Izzo. |

The contracts on their face are both 5/$80 but Verlander's was structured at $8 and $12 the first two years, then bumped to $20/year the last 3 years so Verlander is making $20 million this year. Unless Sanchez' deal is structured to be getting more than that this year, and teams very rarely frontload contracts, he won't be making more than JV. |

Northern Michigan Saginaw Valley Slippery Rock IUPUI Cleveland State Pretty hard for a crowd to really get up and into any of these games when the closest margin of any of these games was 28 points. You'll see a much different atmosphere tomorrow night. |

Home to bball asst. coach LaVall Jordan. Graduated a year ahead of me. Lost to Battier era Country Day in state finals their senior years. That team had 4 guys that should have played at least D1 college ball but LaVall was the only one that had his shit together. |

"Irvin jumped 37 spots from 68th to 31st in the rankings while Walton rose 13 spots, to 44th up from 57th. Donnal saw his stock drop but only minimally as he fell from 103rd to 104th." Irvin had a huge summer and is now the go to guy on his HS team with his teammate Gary Harris now in East Lansing. A lot of rumblings from Indy BBall people have listed him as the best player in Indiana. With a good HS season, I could see another jump from him to near 5 star status similar to the leap that GR3 made last year.

this was actually done outside of the actual school district. once the voters turned down the bond issue, the school dropped it and it was actually the sports booster club that undertook and did the financing for this. obviously the school had to give its permission but the truly idiotic was done by non-school district people. i would bet you'll see a large donation made by the detroit lions charitable foundation then an 11th hour refinance of the remaining portion of the unpaid amount, too much bad pr all around for the bank to just take peoples houses for something that "benefitted the kids", regardless of how monumentally stupid these peoples initial decision was. |
| 45 weeks 2 days ago | Been on flights with Mike |
Been on flights with Mike Tirico (Dallas) and Jason Richardson (Charlotte, NC) on separate occasions. My best one was from just a couple of weeks ago. Went to Pittsburgh for Tigers games and after a night of baseball, drinking and the casino, my buddies and I ended up at the same bar as Verlander and Gerald Laird. My buddy and I beat Verlander and one of his boys at pool. Verlander closed the bar down and left with a very fine young lady. I'm sure she was a close friend from high school and his longtime girlfriend knows all about it. |

was Butler/Florida from 1st round in 2000. I was the only one in my dorm tourney pool that picked Butler to win (I know, cool story bro), but the memorable part is that LaVall Jordan graduated from Albion HS a year in front of me and while we weren't more than acquaintances, we knew who each other were. It was heartbreaking to see a guy I knew and an 85% free throw shooter miss 2 and Miller go the length of the floor to beat them. |
| 1 year 10 weeks ago | State has an agreement |
where they are going to play road games vs all 3 michigan MAC schools in the next 8ish years. 1st one is this year at CMU. |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | I don't know.. |
There is a big difference in 1st round matchups between the 2 and 3 seed. Assuming higher seed wins in 1st round of BTT, 2 seed gets winner of this weekend's Iowa/NW matchup where winner gets 7 seed. The 3 seed gets loser of IU/Purdue matchup. This of course assumes no upsets in Thursday 1st round BTT games. HUGE difference in playing IU/Purdue vs. playing Iowa/NU Fun Big Ten Tourney facts: In the 14 year history, the following matchups have never occurred: Illinois/Iowa Purdue/Wisconsin Indiana/Michigan MSU/Michigan I'm sure everyone knows about MSU/Michigan never meeting. However, there has only been 1 year (2001, UM 10 seed, MSU 2) where they could have even met before the semifinals. Including this year where they can't meet until the finals, 11 of the 15 years of the BTT, the only way MSU/Michigan could have met was in the finals. That is crazy to me. |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | We play 18 conference games |
So we have 11 conf. games plus arkansas left. We are currently 15-4 so if we win 5 conference games plus arkansas, we would finish at 21-10 overall. |
| 1 year 18 weeks ago | I'm actually impressed... |

| 1 year 32 weeks ago | Another correction... |
Farmington Hills Harrison does not have a bye this week. Their conference (Oakland Activities Association) has a crossover week this week between 2 of the divisions. Harrison is playing at Lake Orion H.S. this week. I live just south of LOHS and was thinking of going. |
| 1 year 51 weeks ago | Even though... |
Nashville is in Central Time Zone, the better fit geographically is Nashville moving to the Southeast. I don't think you'll see the Wings moving east, leaving only one original 6 team in the West (Chicago). My guess of the most likely moves are moving Nashville to the Southeast, Winnipeg moving to the Northwest with the other Canadian teams + Colorado and Minnesota moving to the Central. Hopefully, the NHL uses this as the time to examine the schedule as well and change it so that each team plays the other at least once every year. It's ludicrous that it takes 4-6 years to get to see some teams/players from the opposite conference. |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | Funny... |
That was EXACTLY what I did. As soon as he went up, I yelled NO, NO...WOOOOOOOOOO. |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | The team's response after Wisconsin game... |
and how they played in the Minnesota game, as well as how they jumped on State from the get go after a full week layoff, makes me confident that we will see Michigan's best effort against Illinois on Friday.
They very easily could have come out flat for each of these games for very different reasons and didn't. |
| 2 years 20 weeks ago | SMU's leading rusher is from Oxford.. |
so you can root for someone from Michigan at least. |

in the 10-ish years since Braylon was being recruited? It seems like the father of a very highly recruited player would have some memory of how the process went down. |
| 2 years 23 weeks ago | Just imagine to possibility |
Just imagine to possibility of Denard and Dee running the "Annexation of Puerto Rico" |
| 2 years 23 weeks ago | Sheppard |
Sheppard is the raido play by play guy for Michigan basketball, so if anything, he'd be biased TOWARD michigan. |
| 2 years 34 weeks ago | Discussed this same possibility with a buddy last night... |
We both felt RR has to have been keeping something up his sleeve for Sparty. The offense hasn't had to show many wrinkles due to the sheer dominance of Denard, but I would be SHOCKED if there aren't a few plays that involve more than 1 of the QB's. My favorite would be Denard and Gardner in the backfield, maybe trying to get Gardner isolated on a LB on a wheel route or a jumpball play near the goalline similar to the one that tOSU ran for Pryor a couple of times when Boeckmann was there. |
| 2 years 44 weeks ago | The U.S. plays a friendly against Brazil... |
on August 10th in New Jersey. Given the World Cup and most players beginning preparations for their respective club seasons, it's debatable how many of the recognizable names for either side will be there. I would think the U.S. or Mexico based players would likely be there (Donovan, Buddle, Findlay, Torres, Gomez), but I would question if the guys that play on European club teams (Onyewu, Dempsey, Holden, etc.) will be there. Maybe we could see the return of Charlie Davies to the USMNT..... |
| 2 years 46 weeks ago | 93 OSU game... |
was the first game I attended at the Big House. I doubt my experience is any different than any others' first game. Truly, one of the more memorable sporting events in my life. The epic beatdown on TUOOS that day was icing on the cake. |
| 2 years 49 weeks ago | I went to Albion High School with LaVall.... |
and he is an outstanding person. The phrase "nicest guy you'll ever meet" is thrown around a lot, but it's true with LaVall. So pumped he has gotten the opportunity to come back to Michigan. |
| 3 years 13 weeks ago | Looks like the Iowa fans are bringing out.. |
all the original plays on Michigan's name. "Make Michigan" on the front and "Our Bichigan" on the back. Also have seen an "Ann Arbor is a Whore" shirt. All they need is a "Wal-Mart Wolverine" one to complete the cycle. I know Iowa is really bad, but Lickliter should really have trouble looking his team in the face when he gives his munchkin son 7-10 minutes a game |
| 3 years 22 weeks ago | Is he.... |
Is Antwan Boldin any relation to Anquan Boldin from the Cardinals? I know what you meant, but couldn't pass this one up. |

| 3 years 49 weeks ago | The Rule 5 rules also allow a |
The Rule 5 rules also allow a team to offer a selection back to the team the guy was originally selected from for $25,000. Not sure if you can then just cut him if the original team doesn't want him back either. You haven't seen Bloom this year because he was terrible in spring training and the Tigers offered him back to the Pirates and the Pirates accepted because they apparently didn't have enough terrible pitchers. |
