I don't think people are saying there's anything wrong with a different opinion. I just don't think that this is a particularly well-reasoned one. I read most of the Maize n Brew post, but I should have stopped reading after this paragraph:
And even more puzzling, how you can blame Dave Brandon for a coaching search that netted a good hire and a good recruiting class. If you do this you fall into two categories: 1) I believe Rodriguez was fired after the Ohio State game and Brandon needlessly held up the process by going sailing with Bill Martin or something like that; or, 2) I can't believe we hired Hoke when we could've had Harbaugh, Miles, or some other hot coordinator as our new head coach. Huh, really? None of this makes any sense. These are the only two options? Even this small paragraph is bursting with unwarranted assumptions. It's just kind of batty. The piece purports to be this rigorous defense of Dave Brandon and "The Process" but it's just not. |

this is the wrong advice. "Unless you hate it" is not the right measuring stick. In this environment you should really want to be a lawyer in order to take on over 100 grand in debt, and even then you should think seriously about what it means to have that much debt. And while you can certainly hustle your way into a job, there are no guarantees. Also, making law review and "developing a dynamite personality" are both really hard to do. I don't even know what it would mean to develop a dynamite personality at age 24. Certainly not the kind of experiment I'd want to wager 150k on. |

Do you think there's a useful distinction between "if I were you" and "if I was you"? Also, it's not the "subjunctive case." It's the subjunctive mood. Case is a property of nouns and adjectives, not verbs ("to be" in this case). |

You're confusing a number of different types of intellectual property here. Likelihood of confusion has to do with trademarks, not copyright. And the issues with the Denard shirts likely have little to nothing to do with University trademarks. This has to do mostly with the NCAA's stupid rules. |

Sorry. That penalty was dumb. It negated a ~9 yd gain and gave us 1st and 14 deep in our own half. Which wasn't a big deal b/c Denard ran for 20 yds on the next play, but it was still a pretty stupid and obvious personal foul. |

I just moved to Boulder, so welcome! The Denver alumni group watches at Lodo's, but it looks like a group of the Boulder folks were going to try and get a watch party together this year. The Facebook group originally mentioned Baker Street Pub, but the latest info I have is that they're going to Connor's, which is kind of amusing. You can trademark a color, but it's difficult. The University of Michigan has the color 'maize' trademarked for certain uses, presumably, which is why they were able to credibly go after Budweiser when they tried to sell maize & blue cans of Bud Light or whatever that was last year. Regardless, this story screams bullshit. |

Melt was just featured on Man v. Food. Adam successfully completed their absurd 14 cheese grilled cheese sandwich, fries & cole slaw. I'm heading back to AA from Western NY at the end of the week and am thinking about stopping by. Although I didn't see any oversized commemorative t-shirt or other branded gimcracks, and I need some kind of incentive for my food challenges. |
