|2 days 23 hours ago||no doubt about that||
but Borges is not the man to get us there. I'm convinced if that now.
|2 days 23 hours ago||Eat a fat dick sammich||
on this topic. I was VERY MUCH on the Borges "give it time, they're young, system, etc" bandwagon until my first DOUBTS after the psu game. The fucker has 8 plays that he cannot coach his team to run properly. Regardless of age he can't design runs play that average a single fucking yard. Numbers don't lie, you arrogant & ignorant moron.
|3 days 22 hours ago||yeah||
Gallon runs about a legit 4.8 but he generally has good hands and plays much taller than his 5-8 (tops) frame. No way he is higher than a 6th round pick.
|3 days 22 hours ago||(droid app) We ran SO MANY||
trick or gadget plays against osu. After those, it was the same 8 plays Borges has been calling all year. I wanted to win more than anything but when asked at halftime if my mind on Borges was changed, I said "we could hang 50 on osu and I want him gone". Why? If it takes tricks to score due to personnel, fine, but where was it all season in games we needed them? "Hiding then for osu" is a bullshit reply because you can, ya know, come up with other shit. ANYONE pleased with Borges coming back needs their f#cking head examined. Yes, we started strong with a line we knew really was JV level in the middle. Yet, as more teams scout abd expose that, he did Jack shit to counter it. No quick slants, sits, outs, ins, drags and the exact shit that msu/iowa had used to beat us for years now. No, he runs straight into 9 men boxes to the tune of a yard a pop then has the genius idea to throw using useless and slow developing PA. Gardner looks up to see 4 guys in his face before he can make a read. We had a shell shocked and injured QB by week 6 because of this assclown and he gets another season? Just to see if it was youth? I've been patient. I loved the call that ended The Game. Yet, if retained, fuck Hoke and fuck Brandon. The defense and Gardner should fucking boycott his return. He does nothing but call shit games, regress QBs & not recruit. Fuck.Him. Glad the game was close but if that saved his job? Fuck the entire AD and Hoke. The job "he'd have walked from San Diego for" is going to be gone due to a journeyman arrogant moron OC. Fuck.Him.
|4 days 16 hours ago||Not a fan||
but honestly didn't notice until now lol
|5 days 11 hours ago||osu will win||
As teams that run open offenses have proven they can score on msu. I've never bought their defense being anything but very good. osu will simply outpace them as the msu offense will likely bog down. That said, I think it will have to be more with Miller's arm as Hyde likely won't go nuts on them. So, it could be close but I kind of feel osu will break it open eventually. Finally, as long as FSU is healthy, does it's job and has their QB they will do to osu what Bama did to nd......just not AS bad lol.
|1 week 5 hours ago||not just voters but recruits||
It's one thing to look better and be better than a team but if you go into their house and crush them? Kids will be there or see it from home.
|1 week 5 hours ago||yeah||
not so phantom as much as I immediately put my head in my hands and cursed before a flag was thrown.
|1 week 1 day ago||One last thing||
who was the poster that claimed to know the family personally and claimed the father, due to a military background, wouldn't let his son flip from Missouri? Not calling out but he sounded pretty sure he'd stick with Missouri.
|1 week 1 day ago||*||
coach or not. As in he may decommit on the basis of thinking Hoke won't be here for more than another year, etc. Basically, any reason to get out and not look bad after all the recruiting other kids, UM love and such.
|1 week 1 day ago||I think it just shows||
for sure just how confident the staff was in Hand. Offense, losses and all. I think not getting Hand truly left them stunned. I think they were more sure of him than MM. Class went from one that pulls in top kids on reputation for a couple years to losing Hand and having our best recruit (possibly best pure player in the country) issue a statement that sounds awfully "I've got to be ready to possibly change my mind, court or not."
|1 week 1 day ago||not being a downer||
but all indication tells me that MM is gone and even the staff knows it. I don't think we'll ever know how looking so bad on one side of the ball cost us. Not too beat a dead horse but I truly think Hand is here if we're even a one loss team but looked competent offensively (makes defense look better if up a few scores against scrubs and can attack as opposed to having to pay safe on defense.

The Indiana game and the overtime games......Not good outside of the first two weeks and Minnesota.

throw wads of cash at
|1 week 5 days ago||Well, we know||
Muschamp is a big fan of Hoke (he HATES Meyer and generally does things the right way with only a small issue with anger) so, if canned, we have a guy to their attacks of cash at to replace a few guys and hire a proper QB coach, etc.
|1 week 5 days ago||I think||
This is GMatts last stop. Let's pretend Hoke doesn't make moves on offense, keeps all of Borges, funk and Jackson around (I use them as all are either not doing their job to standard or could and probably should retire but might hang on as long as allowed). He does this and I think wet can all agree he loses his dream job next year. Not a pessimist but he went see a 5th year looking anything like this next year. Anyway, he keeps them, we look the same, he is fired. Mattison, imo, stays with the new hire (if wanted and the new hire isn't insane) or he takes a job NOT following Hoke as he may have to drop down to DC at a 2nd tier program or positron coach at a major one. If he got a HC gig it would be MAC level and mid MAC level. Mattison won't follow, imo. I think he is here until his career is over. He says he feels young so let's hope this ship is righted under Hoke or the new guy is, say, friends or not stupid. Basically, Hoke gets fired and I could easily see him retiring.
|1 week 6 days ago||Not at all||
Not that you compared the two but App had NFL kids on their roster, some still in the NFL. Shouldn't have lost but they were, IIRC, a 3 time defending D2 national champion. GS is a 6-4 team and a few of the wins were in this year's UM win fashion (looking bad against even worse teams, yada yada). GS is not even close to good. They beat Florida without completing a pass. Sure, an option team but not one pass completed and their defense held the UF offensive in check. This is, imo, the 5th bigger upset than us losing to App since we did. I go that way because, no. GS is not good. At all. No offense.
|1 week 6 days ago||this||
The same that run off when losing are the first to come back when winning, ignoring their rants to stop going, finding or "never watch again", etc. I admit we need another spark. This team and, sadly, seemingly our OC appear to have given up. Not literally but just the effort. You geek a sense of apathy right now. We need a spark. Better to come out swinging and see what happens with the result than the same old failing system. After the year, maybe we need s change to the staff but Hoke isn't going anywhere. Get used to that. Unless a Harbaugh suddenly wanted to save the college program they love (John) or played at and has spite towards (Jim) wants to come, we have Hoke. I'm fine with that but we need a spark. This team/staff as a whole almost look like they just want the year over with.
|1 week 6 days ago||it's||
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I'm not even close||
to being in the fire Hoke crowd but I would trade him for either Harbaugh yesterday, today and tomorrow. Oddly, there was a rumor when the lady search was concluded that Hoke was AND KNEW HE WAS a stop gap, would get the shop turned to take a positional role for "one of the Harbaughs". Can Hoke, or any coach, love a program THAT much? I say no but it would have us kicking absolute ass in the immediate. Both brothers teabag Saban as coaching minds.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||no joke||
even if funk had the young guys (and older) playing at an obvious improved capacity, I'd get rid of him for Dan Dierdorf. I mean, age or not, his resume outside of choosing is so good that you'd have to. Plus, on a serious note, if this team is trying to go back to true manball......shit. You're OL Coach is a guy Bo tried to run off through non stop vicious hitting to weed out the weak. More than anyone on the staff right now, he knows how to tell a kid to line up and knock the guy in front of you on his ass like Bo did. No pussyfooting. No finesse. Crack skulls or gtfo of practice. Resume? Check. Technique knowledge? Double check. Mentality? Do you need ask? So, I agree. Even if doing an average job I'd trade funk for DD.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||also||
I say scholarships because we aren't getting MM, either. I'm just add sure of that as I was Hand.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||We truly had all of our eggs||
in the Hand basket when, especially post UTL2 visit, it just felt like he was going to bama as for no reason other than a feeling, myself and many others have up on him weeks before he announced our even visited bama. Do you bank the scholarships or just toss them at whoever we had as 4th, 8th & 105th options if we missed on Hand?
|2 weeks 5 days ago||lol||
|2 weeks 6 days ago||but we don't have that either||
right now. Two NFL OTs, Bryant/Braden and a guy we were all told could and should have started as a True Freshman led many to think Fitz along with the to HB recruit could get 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Now? We're like a half yard and a cloud of our QB getting sacked.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I honestly think||
Our best chance is good weather, osu essentially overlooking us or trying too hard to ruin us, causing them to make a ton of mistakes. In good weather, when Gardner is on and has time to actually wind up and throw he can be a real QB. He also needs to be taught by our beloved QB coach to be able to audible to the single coverage pass when they put 8+ in the box. They'll score. We just need turnovers or for them to show up expecting to win too easily.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I don't knock legit threads||
and respect your notion but it's a totally different situation. Our offense, on the whole, once again proved that it hasn't changed. We still run out of obvious run formations and 7, 8, sometimes 9 man boxes. Our single covered 6-5 235 freak & Gallon (great route runner, plays like he is 6-2) go unused in these many cases. Devin (almost rightfully so by now) panics at first sight of penetration but rarely guess up field, rather thinking he can outrun anyone to the edge or just run 10+ yards backward before going down. It took a miracle (and a bad ball spot that was even reviewed) to even get to 9 points. Nine. 3fgs. One, again, a last second miracle. They had a 7 yard punt from their end zone and we did Jack balls with it. Point being, this team is who we are this year. Our best hope, imo, is beating Iowa, getting murdered by osu (mainly because the defense will be on the field all game) and hopefully getting a cake bowl opponent in whatever janky bowl we go to. That would make us 9-4. Under the circumstances, it's not that bad looking to recruits that dint watch the games, lol. Then, we decide on staff and retain or not we have to hope experience on both sides can at least put us in a better overall position even though we lose two NFL OTs. This year? Sorry, man. Last cause as far as suddenly "breaking out".
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Wanted to be wrong||
but even before gushing about their 80th something ranked engineering dept I just felt like he'd follow other top DEs of late and go South. At one point I felt he was coming here but when his final 3 was told and I saw bama/UF on the list I just felt something would push him South. Wanted to be wrong but gushing about a simulator just kind of cemented it for me. As one poster said, when they have a kid at the top of their list even the most supposed lock elsewhere is not safe. I just don't get the academic thing as I assume we have that major as well (do we?). It's his life. Best to him. Would have been a huge get but it's what I felt since his top 3 was announced. Actually shocked we were largely considered not only the his pick but we finished 2nd, apparently. I think uf's season and visit (which couldn't have been known at the time) made them just a school on the list. The reaction to his bama visit compared to his UM visit speaks volumes, in hindsight. Best to him and will be interesting to see where we go from here as I also don't think we get MM. No one kid makes our breaks a program but that was a huge loss and potential gain momentum wise.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I think more than anything||
it shows that guys can be hired from non-fbs schools and even HS without it meaning you are hiring a bad coach. Football is football and football is easy. Success, in cases outside of huge talent differences (and such) but true scheme/maximizing player talent generally translates to pretty much all levels outside of the NFL (and sometimes even then). It wasn't too long ago that the spread (not even the hyper systems we see now) was deemed as a fad at lower levels. Now? Few teams have zero spread elements in the playbook. A coach that can out think opponents and better prepare their players generally translates to all levels, regardless of system.
