| 5 hours 12 min ago | Yeah, heard the same |
No secret that NCAA is essentially the previous years Madden code. Well, until last year supposedly. Guess both games had 3D grass and lighting tech at the same time (yay! lol). |
| 5 hours 14 min ago | that and more is my point |
They produce and publish games for studios they own and do not own. On top of that they have good tech for their owned IPs. Yet, they build "one engine to rule them all" for their sports games (regardless of studio as the EA dev admitted) and decided to keep polishing a turd on the football side to the point that the next console gen is starting this year and they've yet to make a football game I'd call "good". Just don't know why they didn't tweak the old engine (not impossible as we now know) or use other tech. As a tech geek I get your point 100% but assure you that engines can be used for just about anything. Some are specialzed, sure. Yet, most any engine can technically create any atmosphere/backdrop you wish. It just depends on the fit or performance. This gen EA went with one engine for their sports games. It clearly suited some sports better than others, for instance. The Unreal Engine (and dozens more) are made for universal backdrops, be it a FPS, sports game, open world, action adventure 3rd person, RPG and in whatever size you want. Not a huge fan of it but it's universality makes it a go to for tons of companies. Then, you have tech like Havok for physics and Bink for video/animation overlay. Etc. EA just had no competition so why evolve or try or spend? I like the notion of another NCAA game but a Million won't make anything worth playing these days. |

Up until his last 2 years he was a sure thing to bring in a great haul of OL, QB, WR, DB, etc. Rarely was a Carr class outside the top 10. In fact, this class (at it's potential even with 16-20 kids) is the closest to being the best haul in the modern recruiting era for Michigan since Carr's unanimous #1 class of 98 (IIRC). The class of Henson, Terrell, Fargas, etc. Half of the Parade All American team signed with Michigan that year. |
| 7 hours 20 min ago | Had no idea who he was until he was on SNL |
immediate and later impression? Imagine if Kanye West, Frank Ocean and Prince's much less talented twin brother had a love child. That is Miguel. I'm into all types of music and love art and am into some wild stuff people always tell me I'm "weird" for liking but this dude just gives a vibe of trying too hard to be that love child. One of the worst SNL musical guests in a while. I don't even like Kanye anymore (after his first album, really) but he just was on Saturday for the season finally. Both songs had a video backdrop to them. The first song was like Kanye first went all hip-hip WU LYF and I was like "better than anything he's done in almost a decade". His second song was an angry tirade about "new slaves" that was more spoken word than song/rap. Said some things that I'm shocked got through, live or not. Still, wasn't awful. Miguel is awful. haha. |
| 7 hours 49 min ago | Love the notion of giving EA some reason to |
Love the notion of giving EA some reason to actually do more than a roster update and shit features we don't need while not addressing the terrible gameplay but $1 Million isn't enough to make a shitty Arena Bowl game, let alone anything that can compete with EA. It needs to be a major studio....OR....OR....EA can dump this universal sports game engine that only served NHL and FIFA this gen and build a football game using all the other good engines & tech they have for games like their FPS's. The games may not be great but the tech behind MOH and BF3 is amazing and a football sim wouldn't need half the effects and such as them. *Sorry, Android app so no paragraphs* Finally, after their first two shit releases this gen I emailed a real EA NCAA dev who used a fan forum for feedback. I suggested they just use the PS2/Xbox engine from last gen and spice it up a bit. Ya know, better visuals but doesn't need to be a giant leap, more accurate physics, player models and numbers, etc. Just use that engine and add all the things the last gen limited you from doing as those were mostly great games. He replied that it was, and I quote, "Impossible". Impossible as in "cannot be done due to hardware. Not a year later the PS3 started getting revamped PS2 hits with the games PS2 engines running fine on the PS3 (sure the 360 could handle the same). Some remakes/remasters were done in literal months and were amazing. F*ck your "impossible", EA. We got stuck with an entire gen of console with one NCAA/Madden that was even playable (2013...barely). An entire gen of EA trying to polish that turd engine that actually made the games LOSE features from the previous gen it was so bad, lol! They went universal sports engine and only NHL & FIFA were fun. NCAA & Madden were just atrocious until last year and even then they were bad. Worse than any PS2 outing. I played NCAA 11 more than any current gen NCAA game because EA was too lazy to make exclusive engines/use other game engines or too stupid to polish up the previous gen's engine when they realized that 3 games in the ball wouldn't rotate more than once on a 50 yard pass. The ball did that on the Genesis, ffs! haha /end rant |
| 3 days 8 hours ago | Yeah, sucks as the kid is good but our connection |
Yeah, sucks as the kid is good but our connection was his Brother. He also had a strong (stronger?) connection to nd. Would have wanted him in this class so it stings but I'm not at all shocked by the choice. Never considered Alex a "lock" once I learned his story. When I first heard of him and we had Blake I thought he was good as ours. After hearing connections to nd and.....psu (IIRC)...I realized we were at best strongly in the running. Best to him except the one time we play them while he is a domer. haha |

I don't have a side in the fight for the "kids" or college players. My side in any fight is the hypocracy in a person or group complaining about adults receiving SOMETHING for their play while pay sites make money off of them as kids while giving them NOTHING. They don't get a fee per interview. No education, etc. The question/point of hating free sites as well as pay sites is missing the point. Pay sites make money and often skew words/headlines to generate money off a kids thoughts. These sites use services and connections built over years to get these kids numbers and such. Most (as noted in many interviews) just suddenly start getting bombarded by pay site guys reaquesting info. Free sites generally don't make money (other than traffic which is maybe living wage if a popular site/blog) and have to use modern social media to reach out to the kid and ASK for an interview or info. The kid has the choice there and some do and some don't but the point is that they have the choice. With the pay sites, when a kid doesn't want to be bothered they often have to tell the site/s to leave them alone multiple times. Even then, the site will use their name to generate bogus headlines and subs. The hypocracy is what bothers me. I love and follow CFB & CFB recruiting like most here but I get all my info from here, second hand from a site or twitter/FB. Had a free scout membership but left because it's a lame site and not some principal stated above. My only point was to point out how people cry about adult players ONLY getting an education, free medical, free roof, etc and then say nothing about companies hounding these kids for profit while providing nothing outside of exposure they rarely need and sometimes do love (Arnett types). Just something I've always found odd and not necessarily the lone reason I dislike paysites. I even dislike their revenue system. I think info that a kid chooses to give out should be free (recruiting wise). How make money you ask? Ads. May the best site win with traffic. Imagine NSD with an ad/traffic revenue system! Plus, it would end the crap sites as people would naturally flow to the best setup, interviewers, pundits, prognosticates, ranking accuracy, etc. *Sorry for format, android app is a million times better than the old but still doesn't allow paragraphs* |
| 3 days 8 hours ago | Agree |
It's cool to see them doing so well but in my eyes it was only a matter of time and money (facilities) under Fitzgerald. Yet, I could go an hour without a topic about them doing so well as it borders on patronization hiding in a shell of congratulations. Other than Fitzgerald's jump dance douche behavior last year, I like both he and NW. Yet, they were a hail mary amazing catch away from beating us last year and played us tough the year before and seemingly every year. Good for conference but they are an opponent like any other so I could do with less of the NW love around everywhere regarding UM athletics. |
| 3 days 8 hours ago | Tend to agree |
I don't think we land all the big names we are in on (Hand, etc) but I think our class ends up around the top 5-10 again with 17-20 kids in it. We'll have about three or four 5*, the usual grouping of 4* solids and Hoke & Co unknown kids who somehow were unknown until we offered and are given the 3* "well, if a major program offered" bump kids. The usual suspects (Bama, LSU, osu, nd, UF, etc) will surge late as usual with the yearly SEC payday school shocker that is from here on out named the "Ole Miss Cash Money Recruiting Award" winner. We'll end up in or around the top 10 due to size and likely not landing all of the dream list we all have. |
| 3 days 12 hours ago | No, I agree and go further |
Makes me sick how there is all this talk of schools making money off young adults and yet nobody mentions how these sites make money off of actual kids. At least the schools provide a service (education and exposure) for their attention and play. These sites hound KIDS (literal not 18 yet kids), beg for info from them to generate money and info given or not often skew headlines to generate about them to generate money. They provide ZERO service. Sure, some kids are like Arnett and such and like the attention but many more would rather not have to hear from those sites along with schools. The sites don't pay them for their words, opinions, thoughts, stories, etc. Nothing. Yet, make a lot of money off of them. Once they go to school they focus their time on the next crop and disgustingly are engaging these kids younger and earlier. Money difference is huge, I know. Yet, the principal is the same and worse as at least the schools provide SOMETHING. I say F#CK pay sites. Literally became sad for a few mins when Steve went to 247. |
| 3 days 17 hours ago | Home schedule may be weak as far as fun factor but |
Home schedule may be weak as far as fun factor but compared to this year's schedule overall it appears 2014 may be the year the team would be expected to be undefeated going into the osu game. Absolutely great setup in the back end with only ND as a concern in the front end. As a team that MUST break out of the 8-9 win seasons to truly be considered elite again (and as our recruiting is showing) I'm kind of happy with this schedule as it lines up. Only negative being the major teams all away from AA. |

I would have made him lace the F up the second he stepped on campus. I would have told him "Everything else I said recruiting you is and will be true! Yet, there is no way you're faster and more agile with loose f'n shoes than tightly tied ones. Lace 'em up." Day ONE. haha. Love me some Nard Dog but he should of tied them up years ago. Lost cleat and injury risk on top of just being silly. |

Well noticed but I keep saying it because I not only know people like him but I am like him based on his own words. I've always said that if I were ever a major college recruit (right? haha) that I would go to Michigan or somewhere completely random. I'd absolutely troll all the people like us that use this site, pay sites and generally hang their happiness on my every action. I wouldn't necessarily do it just to troll as I'd likely choose an underdog school do to my nature but I take pleasure in surprising people and doing the unexpected. In a few interviews he has essentially said as much about himself as far as the last part. Enough to completely shock people and pick a Rutgers, nuked PSU or a Vandy type over Michigan? Given all signs? I won't go that far and didn't, Mr. Grumpsauce. However, this kid just gives off a vibe that it isn't impossible for most of this board to be all "WTF?!?" on the 26th. That's all. |

F#CK that snake, cheat of an assclown and his vests. Only in Ohio can you avoid all suspicion for a decade despite constant smoke and outright being caught red-handed before it all came tumbling down because he wore a vest and said he was a good guy. Only Ohio would people see all the evidence, admissions, Heisman winner $500 handshakes (that he said he took the fall for many others regarding) and still swear on their childrens lives that he was "a good and honest guy". Even after the emails and NCAA interview osu fans still think he was set up or conspired against, haha. FUUUU that guy. |

Agree. It's just the absolute confidence about a kid who openly and happily talks about his love of being different and surprising people that has me not ready to put him in the bag. |
| 5 days 10 hours ago | The absolute confidence from everyone |
Genuinely has me worried. Rarely do these overwhelming positive outlooks on a recruit work out. haha. Some do but not enough to make me comfortable until it happens. |
| 5 days 10 hours ago | Woodson was Mr. Football in Ohio his Senior year |
Woodson was Mr. Football in Ohio his Senior year and mainly due to his HB play. Yet, my HS at the time (I was still in the 6th grade, though) played Freemont and he played just about everywhere and single handedly destroyed us. He was just slightly taller and slimmer than Peppers so I don't think the comparison is fair other than versatility. As another said, a rich man's Marlin Jackson made me laugh for it's accuracy as far as build and game. Can run and cover on an island but also crack skulls. Kid could play offense like Woodson, etc. |

Still on record as saying he is the definition of a 4 year CBB player. Made a mistake coming out, IMO. This past year's team he was the 3rd best pro prospect on it behind Burke and Robinson. Heck, if scouts only watched the tourney he would be 4th. He'd do much better in the next draft as I think he is a late 1st rounder if he gets lucky this year. IMO, a slightly better Morris like career written all over him and that's sad considering how much I respect him coming to help rebuild the team and I still respect his decision. |

Steve L hinted at this a few days ago and many guessed it. Not surprising as his options were 4 & 7. |

Something regarding being able to dust off our old Henson jerseys again. I replied in assumption that Morris took 7 as 12 is obviously taken and it was down to 4 & 7. I like the number for UM QBs. Henson is my all-time favorite QB at Michigan. |

I do and the NBA is worse. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | This |
The NBA is the worst professional sport on the planet. League has roughly 30 teams and maybe 25 players you can set on a higher bar than the others with 5 of them being actual "superstars" of varying degrees. Worst? The league has become one where those 25 guys all want to play together so it leaves literally half the league meaninglessly terrible. Worst thing? In the NBA you can have a friggin .400 record and make the playoffs, lmao. Yet, it's pointless because in the history of the NBA we've had, what, a single 1 seed lose a first round series to one of the scrub 40-42 win teams?!? The NBA is a joke. Screw the Bulls, Heat and Pistons for that matter. I dislike seeing CBB kids go early BECAUSE I hate the NBA more than my team losing a Burke type guy. I'll literally never go out of my way to watch him in the NBA and he is possibly the best player to ever suit up at Michigan. I hope he has a great career but he'll go to Utah or something and I'll sometimes hear his name on ESPN NBA highlights I'm not even watching. Oh, forgot about the genius "draft lottery" system the NBA uses. No way to scam a certain player to a high market team or anything. That and most of the time the worst team doesn't even get the top pick, lol! A team with a 12% chance somehow wins it half the time. NBA is a joke. /Rant and yes it felt amazing |

And thank you! Great job of representing Michigan and a favorite player of mine. Glad things went well and that helped were happy to. |
| 1 week 5 days ago | I'm not debating that. I'm just saying that this |
I'm not debating that. I'm just saying that this is a kid that openly and happily admits to doing the unexpected. I like our chances but as unlikely as it seems I refuse to act like psu has zero shot. I refuse to act like Stanford is completely out at this point. |
| 1 week 5 days ago | At this point |
Any and every top 100 recruit to chose psu is the next "biggest recruiting upset ever". They got NUKED. Like....if Bill doesn't stick around for a while they will be bad for about 5-10 years after the sanctions are lifted level nuked. |
| 1 week 5 days ago | Did not know that and before hearing it would |
Did not know that and before hearing it would still give us a HUGE advantage over psu but......Peppers kind of prides himself on being different and doing the unexpected. Enough to go to a nuked psu program? I don't know. I tend to agree with Balas but Balas is not Peppers so I'm not putting him in our class until he commits. |
