|2 hours 5 min ago||I know there is a TON of bad blood||
but I keep thinking that, too. SF (as stated by many) are absolutely idiotic to want to get rid of him. Like, actively want him gone. Maybe, just maybe, they realize this in all of the speculation? Maybe the owner will make changes in an effort to keep him? VERY UNLIKELY but it makes such little sense to want him out so badly that it could be a possibility. If Jim were somehow pleased enough with any potential change, I could see him staying. Again, at this point with all this smoke it's VERY UNLIKELY but I wouldn't say 0.00%.
|2 hours 12 min ago||To both||
I stated that here and in about 20 other posts. I find it noble to finish out the season and I agree with it. Again, toxic or not, why burn bridges? I've made that clear for weeks now.
|2 hours 58 min ago||If Jim wants UM||
he can walk out the door for UM today (let Alone next Sunday) AND OWE NOTHING. Zero. If Jim already knows he is going to UM SF has no say in it. The only reason Jim would want to be let go or put any power in the hands of SF is if he wants to see what is out there in the NFL. I know he doesn't want to burn bridges so maybe he will get time to talk to his players, etc? I don't know if this is good or bad because of they fire him he can seek his own advantage. I'm still boggled about SF not being able to work this out with a coach of his caliber! I think there is a chance they try to reconcile. Minute but there. I dunno. I'm just going to sit up & wait. My main concern is Jim giving us good vibes only to say no around Jan 10th.

|3 hours 14 min ago||To those hating on the soccer thread||
/claiming flopping is only in soccer //NBA is nothing but flops ///every NFL WR taught to get up begging for PI flag & kicker doing a somersault when defense brushes air on his foot. Yeah, soccer is the only sport full of flopping
|3 hours 52 min ago||is that their||
5th San given up in one half? Even missing Waddle, how did we regress so much at OL? Stafford isn't helping but wow, he's getting no time and then he's stepping right into the pressure. Jimmah is getting all day back there. Still think we pull this off but I don't see this team winning a playoff game. Not even against any South team.
|3 hours 58 min ago||He's alright||
but that was flat out the dumbest notion of a return I've ever seen. Surrounded by two at the ten? GTFO of the way. Literally run away from the ball lol.
|4 hours 54 sec ago||Why not?||
Why not be the 5th-6th seed. This team is so frustrating. I think they pull this out but no way we beat GB in Lambeau. We'll get bounced by the Saints in the wild card lol
|4 hours 5 min ago||Stunned this isn't a thread||
but wondered how long It'd take to see this. I still think there's a 5% chance SF keeps him (or tries). Question is if they do, does he stay? Unlikely for both but you never know. As for the Lions, I can't help but agree with most if the sentiment. This game should be at least 13-0. The OL has regressed hard this year even when they have the starters healthy from last year. Today they have a rookie RT in. Stafford is playing like last year in that he's not taking what's there. He's getting the snap and just starting down the predetermined target to an inc, sack or int. This year he's done a good job of limiting turnovers by just taking what is there, getting rid of it quick. The defense will eventually get scored on. I hope hearing that they're in the playoffs didn't let their guard down. They're the kind of team that could easily lose to the South winner. They're good but they seem to scrape by too much. Most games the opponent hands in there too long, etc. Good teams just beat them from the go like the Pats.

but not an excuse for being a moron. I am talking about Hackett when I clearly read Schlissel. I'm an idiot, please delete my post.
|5 hours 43 sec ago||Like him so far||
but it's SO FAR. Also, believe me when I say is not a case of "not wanting the challenge/job any less". He wants to clean the FB program and is on his mission. If his hire wants him to stay on, he'll do it happily. If he wants out he won't leave until he can get someone that the FB HC (mainly) and other coaches want/agree with. That could take a while. At this point I don't even think "interim" should be in the title. It may not be very soon after a certain hire, should he make certain hire.
|5 hours 9 min ago||Torrents||
of FIFA broadcasts have a 0% chance of being an issue. At some point there will be a collection released but if it's not out yet it will be soon and cost about $100. I wouldn't worry.

sorry no paragraphs. with that would get fixed.
|9 hours 4 min ago||Yeah||
if he comes I'm under zero assumption that he's retiring here. None. If he reaches the mountain top at UM, he would then feel like he's done his duty and go NFL for that ring. As noted, it may just be getting us back to a national contender again! If he comes & it's a deal longer than 6 years, I'd guarantee he doesn't coach it out. I'd be perfectly happy with him genuinely righting the ship & leaving it in the hands of a very good replacement coach with a solid foundation. If (big IF) we get him we can't expect him to be a lifer here. I'd consider anything past 4 years "bonus time" if he's kicking ass. That said, I do bring up the seemingly impossible: CFB is almost all spread and moving to the hyper spreads. Jim's philosophy is pounding you into submission. He's siren he can move a bit toward speed with Kap but that's still a power run team. Can that offense keep up with the hyper spreads? They score so fast that you can't make a mistake running heavy power & your defense has to be monstrous. I recall one year he was up on Oregon by 21-24 early. Luck & co just killing them. The final score was like 56-27 or something, Oregon. I may be crazy but I refuse to assume he's going to be what we all want/think. Your right in that I think he'll immediately get over on the B1G outside of osu/msu. By year 3 I think msu is not a big concern but I think osu remains tough. At that point I see it being a 50/50 game again. I'll take that! ha. I think he's a prototype CFB coach in the mind of an NFL coach. It's what makes him great at the CFB level but could also hold him back if he refuses to adapt & keep playing NFL ball in CFB. I hope we get a chance to see!
|9 hours 28 min ago||So, in regard to CC 2011, I've now heard/seen||
1) We're going after him but he's likely going to the NFL. 2) An alum "large donor" type email in individuals name watermarked pic/pdf form (to know who copied it if it leaked out I guess?) from my old boss that said we offered Jim $7M a year along with other fallback candidates...and asking for donations ha. 3) Two days later Brandon almost laughingly states in a presser that he is confident Jim "is going to the NFL, wants to go to the NFL". All but says we're not getting Jim 4) We were taking to Miles. 5) Hoke is hired. 6) We NEVER even negotiated with Jim or Les in 2011, let alone offered the job or specifics of an offer like $7M a year 7) Jim briefly accepted the UM job in 2011. I don't think anyone knows anything about 2011. I think all 4 parties all have different emotions regarding that "search" but the common theme is probably confusion. Again, my old boss called me in to show me a UM header, watermarked email "note/pdf" type document sent to him from a UM email address saying we offered $7M to Jim. Then I hear he was never given anything more than a shitty hello, at best. This is total B.S. or everyone involved has their own version of events lol. ffs.....

if hard to read, my bad. Yet, they asked and I doubt there is a more detailed answer/history in the thread. Maybe I didn't add enough Harb?
|12 hours 29 sec ago||Sex/player aside||
I truly feel sorry for those that don't "get" soccer/futbol/non-American football. It's truly a great game. People complain about flopping and while it does happen, have you seen the NBA? The NFL, where WRs are taught to get up after every incompletion calling for a flag? The NFL where kickers/punters are taught to somersault to the ground in agony if a defender comes within an inch of their foot? Flopping in the NFL is just as bad as soccer and, IMO, trends to lead to more game changing penalties. Soccer refs are taught to know when it's legit & ignore or to, at most, yellow card the guy. Flagrant flops rarely lead to a red, etc. In the NFL, if that punter almost gets blocked and he sells that tap contact hard enough it's 15 yards and the ball back. That's HUGE! It's changed games I can think of off the top of my head by a dozen right now. Phantom PI calls! Tell Miami (YTM) that a WR that wasn't touched, dropped the ball (!) & came up crying for a flag is better than nothing or a free kick from midfield in soccer. Flopping in soccer needs toned down, I agree. I agree to the point that I'd penalize it when obvious. Yet, it happens in the very sports soccer haters love where it has FAR WORSE consequences if believed. I think top end soccer (European in club, add South American in national) is great. You have to be physically fit to an insane degree, YOU CAN'T USE YOUR HANDS (!) & goal chances are as exciting as an NFL TD, let alone goals. I've excitedly watched a 0-0 match many times. I've also seen 5+ goal games that were worse than a 2-1 match. It's a beautiful game, IMO. I hope the MLS grows, expands, gets young talent over retirement aged historical European stars & is taken seriously one day.
|12 hours 23 min ago||If be more curious/concerned||
to see how much of that side at msu is PN or MD. Mark is a good HC and he's fielded good defenses at other jobs but with more talent at osu he had some worse defenses there then some he's had at msu. I want to know if Pat stayed so long because he knows he's just a puppet.
|12 hours 27 min ago||Yeah||
his "system" isn't that magical. Hold WRs, jump the snap, hands into facemasks of OL, play so physical that the refs are used to it and don't call penalties others would get and test the seams. Oh, and steroids. The Bullough regimen.
|12 hours 31 min ago||this||
plus msu would just use it as a recruiting tool. He'd never take the job but even if he left to Pitt & we offered MD would drill that to kids. If Pat stayed? Forget it. Don't offer guys that would never come out of real or indoctrinated hatred. It will be used against you when they record him laughingly turning it down.
|12 hours 36 min ago||Fake||
health problems. Sabanitis. Hopefully it returns and he decides to spend time with family (AKA take an ESPN job where he's never home) until another gimme job opens up.
|12 hours 42 min ago||I might be able to||
and if so I'd bring my Brother. He's currently a student at UM and is a chessmaster, ha! He was in a non-school sanctioned league in HS and they crushed everyone. When he plays Chessmaster (or other great chess programs) on PC, he is crazy good. He's good but can explain the game very easily to people that aren't hip to the rules, names, lingo, strategy, etc. /VSmith=Pound4Pound the toughest player at UM the last 20 yrs.

before the trade can be finalized a new contract has to be agreed to & either signed our turned into the NFL office for future league enforcement. So, he essentially says where he goes in a trade. If Atlanta is offering three 1st rounders but Jim doesn't want to go to Atlanta, tough titty, SF. If Carolina offers a scout team punter with a 7th rounder & it's the only offer of those proposed Jim would consider, that's what SF gets. EVEN STILL, once Jim is informed he can merely not sign a new deal making it void should he not really want it. Finally, let me repeat this: THERE IS ZERO PENALTY OF ANY KIND FOR JIM IF HE RESIGNS TO TAKE AN NCAA JOB. The only "UM paying SF the buyout" comes from the hypothetical offer that we'd give SF $5MM to encourage them to simply fire him instead of shop him. That said, Jim can walk out the door for AA a week ago. It's why I still question his intentions unless he's finishing this year merely out of nobility & honor (because it's known that SF is going to dump him anyway so you might as well call this his last contract year). I think he's just not a quitter. If they don't fire him or work something out with UM, they'll try to trade him. If Jim isn't our HC by Jan 2nd, his heart isn't in AA and he's not our HC. I think we'll know sooner as CFB can't keep its mouth shut and things like Ross getting into Miami talks, etc. If not verbal, we'll know either way by "Dead Tuesday", IMO.
|13 hours 20 min ago||That's my thought||
the contract length is irrelevant because if he turns us around, he has a great replacement & he wins a NC before his 6-8 year deal is up he's going back to the NFL anyway. Heck, if he has made the playoffs a couple times by year 4-5, he's likely gone. Point being, he's not going to retire at Michigan if he comes but we all have to be ok with that if he leaves us on solid ground. Coming back would let him use a chunk of his 50's to stop the spinning going on in Bo's grave right now. One the guy feels like he's done what he may feel was a coaching obligation in righting the Michigan ship, he's back to the NFL. I just posed this last thought in a thread made about a week ago called "The effect on our health". I posed the possibility of hiring Harbaugh but then asked: What if he failed? What if we end year 4 and we're a Wisconsin level team? Not bad by any means but not what we all expect. What then? I want him but not if it's only to get us not sucking again and then bolt as soon as we're UW level. I'm ok with him leaving if he's truly turned us back into a national power! I'm saying to expect that if it happens. I just don't want 4 & out if we're just a "good" team. Either way, I think it's worth it for him, us and flat out logical. The NFL will always be there and he's coaching into his 80s lol. We need YOUNG, CRAZY ENERGY Jim right now! I just don't think he'd come here to retire but more "a mission from Bo". Once complete, he wants a Super Bowl ring. Take the money now as length is irrelevant, IMO. He'll get a no buyout clause if he demands it. At worst it'd kick in after year 4. Take the money & dream fir a bit and then leave us on solid ground. That's all we should expect and be happy to get if he comes.
|13 hours 41 min ago||You may be a spy troll, Bagheera||
but I agree 100%. If you aren't on the two deep he could give a shit less about you unless you're a very promising & young talent. Any underclassmen not digging the two deep are dead to that guy, looking for the first recruit to replace him because...didn't the older player stub his toe as a Freshman? Yup, I think so. MEDICAL'd faster than you can say "Saban is borderline evil in the literal sense".

It's still 2014. There is only one way the sports gods can right such a terrible & comically predictable, painfully atrocious year: hugahbar
|1 day 11 hours ago||Hoke||
definitely wanted to keep Borges! Brandon just wanted to keep Hoke as badly and he had to scapegoat someone for the alums, donors, fans. It couldn't be total incompetence, it was that one guy that was either brilliant or terrible sounding on the day. It was the guy that didn't leave the building let alone recruit on the road. It was the arrogant, Uncle Fester looking guy. Yeah, that's it. Problem solved, guys. The one thing it's not is a total lack of competence, awareness & accountability from the top. IMO, no way Brandon fires Hoke after this year if it played out the same in every way but the scandals & growing fan hatred of stadium experience outside of the game. A quiet 5 wins & he's back with maybe another scapegoat or two. Players remain coached by a buddy that never holds their lack of effort to account, recruits largely stay on but most because he's that kind of HC, etc. Finally, that is the strangest thing because I'd seen SDSU under Hoke and they were not soft & entitled. Same for BSU. Good or not, they weren't soft. I think Hoke let what he thought Michigan values stood for influence his style here. A CEO HC can work but not when you coddle them and are completely in a "mentor before HC" mentality.

I mean, the route was open but the ball want there in time or remotely accurate. Even a healthy Gardner has more of a shotput lop motion/throw but he can zip it at times. He had to drill that in there on a broken foot (body, let's be real). If healthy I can't help but think it's a stack rollout with roll side options, run option & a bsckside slip option. If healthy he may have been able to run & dive it across? Yet, the play was good. The play was wide open (especially) for a 6 yard throw. It was just late and really wide to Devin's left, Dileo's right shoulder side. Yet, we make that play (assuming they don't score with the 25ish seconds left, as they could have) and we feel a whole lot better about that year. A year where we didn't think it could get worse.....
|1 day 11 hours ago||(app) I kind of agree||
but let's be honest here, man. Most of the "good" posters have lost their minds, too. If this were done we'd have about 50 posters left. The "JH Holiday Song" thread made me not give a shit anymore or at least brought me back from the ledge because of how angrily moronic it was to me. I want him here but I'm prepared to hear "no". I'd like it to happen ASAP if it is no so we don't wait on a HC of any name until Jan 10th due to negotiations, their consideration, etc. If yes and already a yes I can wait. I'm "what could have been with such a perfect fit" sad for about a day if he says no but it won't genuinely hurt. I won't drown in booze, etc. I've just decided that I'm not taking anything seriously until I hear it from Harbaugh or Hackett. That's the day I'll GAF. My concern (as much as I want him here) and time is spent trying to parse logic from rumor to attempt to be a voice of sanity. I'm failing really hard. I even begged for us to just stop, even for a day, in the "wife/pulp fiction" thread. It's insane to the point that the nation is laughing at us. Not so much for wanting a coach but the way we're showing how we want ONLY ONE GUY so badly. It's embarrassing when it's anything but "this is how I feel, think & parse words". The posts where people are trying to be funny but are really creepy & pathetic make me cringe. I'm more on the lookout for troll spies, ha. I have a few locked in, IMO. We'll see. That's my fun, finding the new spy trolls that have invaded this blog, twitter, sites, etc.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Not to be a dick||
so sorry if wrong, bagheera! However, I'll post again that there is an actual msu thread on a site (I don't think it's one of the pay sites) where they have tons of people using different monikers at various UM sites and a secret "PM ONLY" troll plan for the day we don't get Jim. The thread was about 100 comments deep a couple weeks ago and the link I had for it no longer shows the thread to nonmembers. The link was off twitter and now I can't find it. Anyway, tons of people saying how "epic" the "plan" is when we don't get him, laughing and many openly saying if they've had their "cover" blown yet. They're doing their best to assimilate before doing it (I'm sure they'll still do something should he come) yet their intelligence and hatred of UM can only be held back so long, lol. I'm sorry if I'm wrong but I hinted about a week ago to another poster questioning his UM fanhood that I think Bagheera could be one if these maniacal sleeper agents. Dastardly, if so. I suspect it simply due to using the app and having no ability to view his profile, not having seen him here before Hoke was fired & general negative tone about almost everything UM. I could be wrong! If so, please accept my apology! Yet, I'm on to you "Bagheera".....if that is your real name!?! /Ronin - WHAT COLOR IS THE LIGHTHOUSE IN NEW CASTLE?! WHAT COLOR IS IT?!!?
