Football alone? Money. Unless the dissent is massive, vocal and withholding donations. With football, a guy like Ross can run the show if the dissent is weak.
I think that's universal. Dissent has to be mass scale to cause change. 100 kids holding signs at the diag won't do anything compared to a major money man wanting the opposite. Yet, there comes a time when the number of people has more value than a much larger dollar amount. I'm sure there is a ratio or something ha. It's why I knew the Occupy WS movement would fail. Waste of time. The money so outweighed the number of people that it didn't matter. Had every city done the same or if the people in NY became Molotov tossing level violent something would have at least been addressed. Maybe an indictment? I dunno? Anything but calm folk sitting or walking and holding signs. Anyway, I think it's a ratio thing. Fill the diag with a mass of yelling students (heck, just fans) and it'll get noticed. If 50 show up chanting for an hour? Nothing. They'll laugh at you.

I've been saying this for years now. We'll never forget the man but we have a legit cult of personality regarding him. I've only seen psu do it worse with Paterno and even if that gnarly shit didn't go down it's not healthy. You have to move on, adapt, evolve and change. I'd love one of the Harbaughs but not because of their "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon: Bo Edition" link to the program. Remember him but remember that he loved winning. Our only criteria regarding a HC should be if they are winners and clean (as much as one can be in modern CFB). That's it.
|1 day 16 hours ago||fan of that site for years||
and the guy just tells it how it is....with humor & dicks. He's a Texas fan but he'll dog them when warranted, too. However, that's BY FAR the most he's dedicated to Michigan in one week. Further, our good:bad ratio on the site is about even now. He's normally fair so he'll give UM a good panel when deserved. He loved Denard.

it embeds but I missed the autocorrect from "don't" to "funny". sorry. still, I quit. I quit, I quit, I quit.

admit this much. And I put blame on the guy and think, given all else, it should be the final straw to fire him.

and was called some pretty terrible things. Our showing up (or not) gives the most influence a fan/average alum can hope for.

They aren't human anymore. By that I mean once you get a certain amount of money you just stop being human. Some call it "F U" money.

Michigan can't get him here if DB is here. Ross backs DB. Oliver Stone would have a field day with this program and it's alums/donors/factions. haha

Larry Foote is/was correct. It's not the rule but also not the exception. It's just the way it is on the whole. I actually think it's life experience. If a kid has basically been fighting for survival/sanity since he could remember that kid will generally have certain traits that a kid that was tossed keys to a new car at 15 would. GENERALLY. Again, not the rule but a fact of life in most cases. In my opinion, of course.
|3 days 16 hours ago||This||
exactly my point up top. Guys like Ross outweigh almost everyone else. His opinion will likely be the direction we head by default. F#ck. I.....I can't do it. I just can't. F#ck. (I'm genuinely laughing out of incredulous, hysterical rage right now lol)
|3 days 16 hours ago||F#ck||
just f#ck. Unless it's Ross being kind until the axe, f#ck.

sorry for unnoticed autocorrect, lack of paragraphs and generally lazy writing.

By positive change I'm fully saying that in a "best case" or "what we deserve" scenario/scenario. Heck, even an AD and staff that most fans would love isn't guaranteed success. I'm saying "change for the better" purely in assumption and my opinion that nothing less than winning out allows this entire regime the right to stay (AD to coaching staff, Manning/recruiter types ok if a new staff wants them retained) given the program trend line. I promise nothing and know nothing is promised. Trust me, I feel the pain as well! I feel like I haven't seen Michigan Football since I was a teen. When is it enough? I'm an 80s baby that is a product of the 90s. A true millennial. I remember not even having an ounce of nerves out worry against our rivals. Really! msu? pffttt. osu? We're going to win. Period, point blank and so on. When we did lose it was always on some funky hail mary, one superstar beating us or the twice a year unexplainable Carr led games where we wouldn't even show up fully awake. The talent was there but the energy/gameplan wasn't, ya know? We were good for a couple a year under Carr but other than that we could play with anyone, anywhere. I'm not saying the next guys up can get us back there and more. I'm saying that this situation is now toxic. Unless we win out and the wheels aren't already in motion, Gibb forward as is may hurt us more than change. Unless we win out (not happening) it will be a bigger risk continuing to drive on fumes in heavy traffic than to just pull over and make that walk to a gas station. The walk sucks but we're going dangerously slow on fumes, getting passed by and moving on perpetual hope that we don't completely stall. Might as well pull aside, get some gas and hope you can keep up, catch up and then pass others this time because Hoke may not be the guy be he is right when he says THIS IS MICHIGAN......and Michigan is a very nice car. haha
|3 days 17 hours ago||My thoughts exactly||
and put down far better than myself. I missed the other thread/discussion but it seems like (by common sense) that just a few people could really take the entire issue (AD to FB staff) in whatever direction they like. If, in fact, a guy like Ross were to be in the camp advocating swift & full changes, the momentum could really be too much to ignore. Hadn't heard his name until now so I'm a bit stunned by how strong this movement (if it can be called that) could be. Thanks for the legit reply.
|3 days 17 hours ago||People worry about the bad publicity||
but it really is a good thing if it helps bring positive change. People worry about recruiting but this class is so small and some kids will stay no matter what that a BIG name hire will get immediate attention. The CFB world and recruits know what Michigan has in regard to resources. The right AD & FB Staff kind of have to try to mess that up. Sadly, one or the other has been sub-par since the early 90s.
|3 days 18 hours ago||(sorry, on android app) Ross has met with the new UM president?||
Wow. I don't care he doesn't care much for athletics and has expressed so publicly. When UM athletics (football, let's be real) are not only a cash cow but an extra reason a guy like Ross will toss you $400M in a decade, you better at least understand it's importance. My main concern there is where Ross stands on the issue of the AD. IIRC, he and Brandon were quite chummy during the last HC search. I wonder because it's guys like Ross that will determine what happens. The few like him outweigh any average group of alums on almost any collective. It's like a whale at a casino. People like Ross will get their way but I'm not sure what direction that way is. Finally, can someone clear up the rumor/word in regard to Ross on the last HC search regarding both he & Brandon but he & (sigh) Harbaugh? I'd always heard that DB spent time talking to Ross and quite a bit of it. I heard they spent two separate days together, one flying somewhere. Finally, I'd always heard that Ross met with Jim and flew him to Miami with regard to the Dolphins HC job. I'm sure I could still find the link but I remember reading Ross joking about telling Jim "it's either the Dolphins or Michigan" in a lighthearted way once he turned the Miami job down. Thanks. I ask because confirming or debunking the two things could give us an idea as to what Ross is thinking. It sounds crazy but he could be there backing DB for all I know.
|3 days 21 hours ago||I kid you not.||
I've heard it said out loud and I've read it online s few times. In fact, it's not just UM fans. During my old Scout days I probably read a few dozen fans of other teams swear that they would pull all funding (even mentioning school affiliated hospitals) due to being unhappy with their teams play, etc. It sickens me every time.
|4 days 3 min ago||This, other children and my own Brother||
are why I continue to donate to Motts. I've heard of people stopping the donations to a children's hospital due to football issues. I've always found that enraging.

the entire program needs a lineage guy or to truly get over it and not subvert the actions of anyone not within "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon: Bo Edition".
|5 days 26 min ago||(sorry, on app. can't paragraph) I was never down on him||
because he was being honest. I know I've said it a million times but within an hour of winning the Sugar Bowl I told my group that I'd still trade our entire staff for Harbaugh. Yup, every coach for one guy. The difference is that big between them. Clean trade and let Jim hire whoever he wants. I don't dislike most if the staff (then or now) but that's how highly I think if Jim as a coach. At the CFB level he was/would be the best out there, IMO. Above Saban, Meyer, Miles, etc. The ONLY issue being that we don't know what guys like Saban, Miles & Meyer can do at a school that doesn't turn a blind eye to everything they do with the team (good and bad). It's a huge reason why I say that as Jim won big and quickly taking over a depleted and terrible Stanford program. Stanford....where they care. I personally know someone that played his senior year there under Jim after years of horror. Saban? msu, lsu, bama.....free reign. A big question for Miles is that he's only won at schools that allow anything (ok st, lsu). I also have a legit account if what he's like so he'd definitely be reigned in at UM. How would he fare? Meyer? lol....please. Guy leaves UF in ashes only to take over the only SEC North program. Comments or not, brash attitude or not, Jim is honest and has won big at a place that does not condone cheating/shortcuts/etc.
|1 week 21 hours ago||It is a product||
Especially these days across CFB. You are the consumer, alum or not. I'll admit that I may be being a bit dramatic when I say I'm DEFINITELY only going to one more game this year but it's my plan. It had nothing to do with the players, my school, etc. It's a protest against the product. It's my refusal to drop $100+ beyond the ticket for such a product. It's in protest of the money I give for facilities, etc only to have this product. Like it or not, CFB is a product. I'm exercising my right to not buy this particular leadership's product. I could be called "fair weather" but that's hard (even wrong) when it's your school. It's wrong when you have given more money then you can think of over the years. I'm done with the AD. I'm done with the staff. My money (our money) is the only real weapon we have for change. I'd rather have one really dark year that ends in positive change than sit around another 15+ years in mediocrity in spite of our history, facilities, resources, etc. Again, as a consumer it's your right to continue supporting the product with your money. I suspect most will and so be it. I'll support Michigan and I'll do it from home.

clapping and slapping assess when down by 20 and f'n up all over. Year one was the year this team needed an insane amount of positive support. Year 2, 3, 4? No. Now you've got a team soft as baby shit. I've said it before but when there is a competition between two people and one of them know they'll be praised win or lose, effort or not, they'll be the first to quit every time. They'll half ass it. Deeper than that? Foote was right. Too many kids with something to fall back on at home, using UM as an awesome notch on the cap with perks. The entire program is lost right now but a coach that won't even yell at a player (ever) is near the top of issues. That's why he'll never act our win like SS.
|1 week 1 day ago||neg bomb me (on phone, can't see anyway)||
but most of the replies are what is wrong with this program. NOTHING will change unless the fans change. It's already started! An entire corner of the stadium was empty for 2 straight weeks, leaving early win or lose, great weather or bad. Nothing on the players as it could be made and let known why it's happening. Why should it? Yes, your coaches are great guys but they aren't doing you out the fans any good. You're the consumer so do what you want! Yet, I don't think a fan can complain anymore while dropping hundreds on this product every Saturday when home. I'm not even counting mega-donors. DB isn't changing. This staff isn't suddenly going to change the culture around the program, etc. Fans will always go. Yet, outside of one more game this year, I'm done. My Brother and I decided that Saturday and he's currently a student and I've bled Blue from birth. I felt better in the 3 win RR year than I do now and it's everything from the performance to the AD in general. When fans stop going and thrown money at a bad, self destructive product......maybe?
|1 week 4 days ago||I don't care||
just get a guy around that team that puts some violence in them. I'm so serious. Be honest with yourself, we're soft as baby shit. When a True Freshman that's barely played has more swagger and violent attack toward the opponent than anyone I've seen on this team in years, it's sad. When JP tackles someone it's with a violence that all UM players used to have. 3 teammates in on the tackle? He'll come just as fast and hard as if it were one on one. Most guys slow up, spread the work. That's not how we used to play from the top down, offense and defense. You either know what I mean or don't. At this point, someone has to counter the constant clapping and butt pats after a million f-ups. It was novel (and needed) the first year, IMO. Starting year two? A coach (should be staff) needs to be a bit feared. It's like every player is bff with the entire staff. It's good most if the year but when a kid knows he can fail and still get praised, he'll quit first in a contest. Every single time. Hope this dude is a lunatic lol.

Texans owner (iirc) actually mentioned taking Henson #1 in a few short interviews/quick press quotes. Something along the lines of "We thought we had our QB", "I really wanted the Michigan kid", etc. I think it was the Texans but if not it was whoever had the top pick that year.
|1 week 4 days ago||If bet||
Hackenberg goes in the first round. He'd likely go top 5 (for sure, IMO) had BoB stayed at psu.
