as a product of the 90s (born in 84) I remember not even getting nervous before playing osu/msu/nd. When we did lose it wasn't the end of the world. I just went "well, that's their one win every 3 years". 2001-Now is like a bizzaro world. Kids truly have no idea what it was like to be MICHIGAN. It's sad.

Or are we both the only brilliant minds in this room? All kidding aside, I know a kid that played at Stanford. He lived the suck and his last year was Harbaugh's first. Said it was the first time he knew what true coaching felt like (take that for what it's worth as it was the gist). I don't feel or see that with Hoke. Not even slightly. Some coaches can take guys, a mix of below average vets and young but we'll regarded recruits and just make it work. QB played like trash for 3 years? Now he's efficient. No HB? Turn a low ranked TE recruit into a jumbo back that finishes high in Heisman voting. Etc. Nothing wrong with CEO coaches when they do it right. Yet, nothing about Hoke makes me think we'll ever be more than "Carr level". If that is our goal, we have up. Michigan should be a perennial top ten team. End of story. Buy the coach you need to get it done. If it's Hoke, great! If not? Find the guy and back a bank truck to his front door.

Therefore, by the rule of arguments that cannot be won the more you reject the opposition (see: your an alcoholic, rage-aholic, etc), you are at the very least totally into looking at teen boys without clothes on. Perv.

great potential but he is not and never was 6-1. Nothing wrong with that. Then again, it could be because it rained that day? I hear you shrink when you're inside and it rai......blegh. We landed an awesome 5-11 200lb freak of an athlete. I'm cool with it ha.
|1 week 4 days ago||So many but all are in an inside joke/nonsensical context||
Prince Fielder was "sweet baby bitch tits" as his dad was just "bitch tits" (both said in a non hateful way, really). That started when the father was playing at old Tiger Stadium & I was with family. Some college age guys kept happily yelling it after Fielder hit a grand slam. It stuck with us. So, when his son was here he was sbbt. At a game last year we lost 1-0 in the 9th because Prince went for home when the ball was already in the infield lol. We got tossed out, we lost and all drunkenly laughed "no sbbt....no!". So many more but all not funny to anyone else inside jokes.

Not having a strongly set 1st team by your first game is a bad sign or shows many are seen as equal. In either case, find your guys and roll with them unless the lightbulb finally turns on for a 2nd during guy during the year and is clearly better for the unit. Pick your guys, let them gel along with their growing pains.

that's great. Reminds me of why I love UM when all you see/hear/say can seem negative in times like this. This is Michigan.

that earthquake simulator is pretty amazing! With its beer pong table getting a nudge with a house of cards on top of it. Awe inspiring. I've seen it. I wanted to commit right there.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||LeBron at TE/WR?||
Few teams would lose a CFB game with just that lol. Think Megatron + taller + bigger and possibly as fast or faster. A 6-3 Bama CB couldn't cover that with double safety help.

1) Your name kills me. I need to see that scene again. 2) Not sure he comes HERE but I also have a feeling he doesn't go to VT.

but I'm on record as saying I'll take any kid Bud Foster wants. He had done nothing but build great defenses with hidden, not so hidden and "where he come from?" talent. His defenses usually have 1-3 kids that were heavily recruited any given year. They almost never bust.

almost scary the way the OL was given the "we'll keep plugging away" & "well, it's not just the OL" treatment. Jansen just said what was up. A big body is a big body and regardless of age we're trotting out guys that every college wanted. No excuse to be as bad as last year at UM. Ever. Inexcusable and in very kind/less words he stated as much. He put a positive spin on an obvious uncertain situation. Really felt an odd, already slightly excuse filled tone from the staff/some players.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||My sentiment||
I don't care how old they are. When you have an OL that featured two NFL OTs , a solid walk-on and a rotation of two others at any given time that had their pick of colleges (one most had pegged as capable of being a solid starter as a true FR in Kalis), no excuse. People can blame unity, leadership, age, etc. Don't care. I've watched msu trot out a line of literal 3rd string nobodies, walk-ons abd guys converted from the DL the WEEK OF THE GAME and they had a viable offense. It's still just big guys that you tell to push forward or protect at the end if the day. To not have any plays that understand and play to your weakness is inexcusable. I'll say the same for Nuss should we look no better this year. No excuse. Offense is action by nature. You know where and when you're going. You have an inherent advantage. A body is a body is a body.

Good point. ha
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Exactly my sentiments at the time||
I loved Gallon as a Wolverine but in pads, on an average day, he ran a 4.65 TOPS. He was more quick than fast. Huge difference. Funchess is not a 4.3 guy. End of story. Crazy talented and even scarier that other offensive issues have hindered his full potential on the field! Yet, in pads he's about a 4.6 guy. He'll likely combine (hopefully in 2016) in the high 4.5s. It's not knocking them, it's observable fact.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||No problem||
and I get your interest while also agreeing with the rest. Recruiting, sadly, is dirty and odd but the lifeblood of any program. A necessary evil, IMO. As far as NCAA legality goes, again, it's very bipolar. Rules are both obvious and obscure, watched and neglected. One school gets probation for giving an unofficial visitor a soda while another school gets away with 436 "self reported secondary violations" that range from giving the same kid a soda to calling him during the dead period to having your female "fun squad" met up and escort him somewhere after his HS game. "Oops, my bad!" is a valid excuse to the NCAA most cases. Just don't NOT tell them about the Pepsi he didn't pay for on tour. Etc. The rest is, as stated, mostly ethics on each side and not at all binding during 99% of the process.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||It's really a game of||
strict numbers, not so strict laws and personal relationships. There is no real "legality"outside if rarely enforced mentioned laws. Even then it's just the NCAA (who changes rules by the year). Recruiting is literally having a guy/team/outside company keep tabs on kids everywhere. They follow every rumor or lead they hear about (this tiny school in New Mexico has a 6-3 300 kid that returns punts!, etc). Then it's contacting the school/family. Creepy in that many schools go family first and "cold call". Phone rings and it's "coach x" telling feeling you out for a vibe. Recruiting starts there and it starts at light speed. When it comes to WHO a school wants or can take, NOTHING is binding for either side until all paperwork is filled out. Until then it's ethics for both sides. No legality. Some programs cover their ass by knowingly oversigning and giving a shit less about a recruit they hurt or current player they cut because he stubbed his toe as a freshman 3 years ago. Other schools do their best to do the opposite. Only legality in it is NCAA based and, obviously, enforced on a "wtfwut?" basis. Recruiting can be creepy. I'd advise not getting too deep, lol. "Meat Market" is stilla good read and will make the most seasoned recruit veteran feel like a nice, long shower.

they pull me back in! I don't want to know anything about recruiting anymore. I've said it at least a few times a week the last few months and last in the Messiah hello. Yet, I'll admit it's exciting. It's why I used to love following recruiting. Hopefully it's more solid than the UNC commit as a small class could get decimated if Hoke is a foregone conclusion fire by November. A position of need and a supposed beast! Final time (unless it's a Peppers level kid) I'll say I'm excited before he is on campus. Does SC (or anyone) know if the recent TE offers (even '16) made his UM lean turn full commit?
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I've stared before||
that I wish this site had a recruiting only board. I don't look at rumor posts at all and can't come here (or anywhere) to talk CFB without seeing "hello" or "goodbye" posts. I was being pretty facetious, btw. No anger but a wish to just not be so far up teenagers business...like 12ish years ago. So, on an hello post I look and see a guy say he didn't care. I see SC guarantee it's a sure thing. I respectfully disagree as that's part of why I stopped openly following recruiting. Not really a case of "and yet you're posting" as it's more of a plea for sanity.
|3 weeks 1 hour ago||(mobile) Totally get what you're saying||
As well but who knows anymore? Really. Some kids are like the type you say he is. They'd come in regardless of ranking and be a career backup before leaving, etc. Yet, say Hoke doesn't get 2015. Who can you say for sure that this (or any kid that far off) wouldn't look at options? I agree with his sentiment because that's my general recruiting sentiment now. Until they are here I no longer care or even want to know who we landed our missed on. Anything but that is an exercise in futility, IMO. I used to be a mega-recruit follower though. I actually have pretty deep connections in SE MI, NW/SW & Central OH. I had to tell my old (current on their end) coaching buddies to stop giving me info, ha. I look back now and the fact that I knew Pharaoh Brown was not in the class anymore weeks before any site/person even speculated on it makes me feel creepy. Same for A. Washington's "literally couldn't pay me to go to UM" stance when many thought we had a shot if he only made good on his constantly falling through visit plans, etc. I'm just done with it so YAY & GO BLUE (!) but I'll care when he signs and is on the field or sideline. Could care less what a kid half my age says or does anymore lol. I'm getting old. Get off my lawn. /end of wishing recruiting sites never existed speech

but I think a bit of injury hamming is going on with that Portugal squad. Ronaldo hurt, too? Seems a bit like trying to get us to relax a bit in a must win for them. It is the world cup.

and jmdblue here. I'm not sure people get that it's more than a reference to actual skin (like a description). As others have said, "black" and "white" isn't necessarily derogatory just due to it's intent of describing someone's ethnicity (though in certain context it can be). Redskin was first just a description of these new people Europeans cane across but quickly morphed into a divisive slur as they began fearing, fighting, killing, stealing, etc from them (like the n word in early slavery as it was used literally as a term of perceived ignorance but then turned into a general hateful slur of all blacks). "Skin" didn't make it descriptive and hasn't in a long time. As for Vikings, it was a people/profession. As for "Fighting Irish", I'm sure some exist but I'm yet to meet a fan (and/or anyone if Irish descent) that doesn't take pride in it. "Fighting" referring to what they overcame as opposed to the stereotype of being drunken hooligans lol.
