It used to be the "base comp" was all UM paid the coach and rest of the pay came from apparel deals, summer camps, coaches' show, etc.
|2 days 1 hour ago||Michigan normally ties||
Michigan normally ties buyouts to buyouts they've paid to others schools or hiring bonuses they've paid, which also makes buyouts more likely to be upheld in court.
|4 days 16 hours ago||Yeah, I have to say||
That in my college days when we threw parties we never budgeted for potential damage.
Largely because people who were prone to do a lot of damage were never invited in the first place.
I get that frats don't control their members the same way. Explains why I never joined a frat.
|4 days 16 hours ago||I read most of the thread||
and didn't see anyone really trying to justify their behavior. Mostly people flabbergasted at your shock that UM students were capable of such things.
Mix 18-21 year old guys in large numbers together with alcohol and bad things can happen.
Google the media coverage of the way people acted after UM won the basketball championship in 1989 as just one example. A police car was rolled through the front window of the First of America (I know its something else now) branch at the corner of South U. and East U., among many other things.
|4 days 17 hours ago||Because the conduct happened off campus and outside Ann Arbor||
there won't be any school-related penalties unless the people in charge of such things decide that the alleged conduct shows the people involved to be a threat to members of the university community.
Fraternity members are no more representatives of the school than any other student is.
|4 days 17 hours ago||In my time at the university||
I saw all manner of misbehavior from students, both those in fraternities and those who weren't. Fraternity stuff can be more destructive just because they tend to gather larger numbers of people together. Sometimes they may also gather more meatheads together than your typical student gathering. Certainly not always the case but it was in some cases in my experience.
I'm not sure why you think Michigan would be immune. Last time I checked they didn't have any morals testing as part of the admissions process - and drunk kids will do some stupid stuff.

he would have to, you know, be a grad student.
He would also not be allowed to participate in off-campus recruiting.

Much better to leave the house around 10am than 7am.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||The City of Ann Arbor||
has been very resistent to them and has asked that there be no more than one night game a year. It wasn't just that Dave wanted to make big events, though that was a factor.

I got banned for questioning another poster's statement that John Wangler and 2 1990s era players were personally involved in undermining Rodriguez.
I asked if there was any, you know, evidence to support that and then my access to the site was revoked.
At least that's a good way to avoid dealing with the hassle of cancelling.

it's a bad thing.
Which it's not.

I miss Howard King. Hasn't been the same since he retired.

charges more for access to its programming than anyone else. It's hardly keeping the cable companies alive.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||for parking||
It just depends on how much you're willing to pay.
$25 should get you within an easy half mile walk at Colonial Lanes or the old Kroger at Stadium and Industrial.. $40 will get you a lot closer.
(speaking of which, anyone know why that Kroger closed?)
|9 weeks 6 days ago||My 14 year old daughter was with me that day||
Her: "what is wrong with that woman?"
Me: "I am so happy to hear that you don't yet immediately recognize someone who is drunk. By the way, this is what happens when you let someone put a microphone in your hand in front of lots of people when you've had far too many glasses of wine."

in the end zones and a few on the sides.
I'm not sure what you've looked at but the seat map at mgoblue.com for the Nov. 21 game shows very few seats sold in the south end zone.
Just choose the option to view the seat map and all the green dots are tickets that are available. If that's not working for you call the ticket office at (866) 296-MTIX and order them over the phone. I'm sure they'll help you find two good ones together.

I have heard that its a slight fracture of the kneecap (i.e. bone chips).
|11 weeks 4 days ago||that's not right||
A "medical redshirt" means a "medical hardship" under the rules. It means that a year is not counted as a season of competition (you get 4) even though normally playing one down uses up one of those seasons. If Peppers didn't get a medical redshirt, this would count as his first season of competition because he played in 2 games (ASU, Miami).
There is a separate waiver that can be sought of the 5 year rule but a "medical redshirt" normally refers to getting back a year where a player played in a few games then got hurt.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Regent approval will be required for the new AD's contract||
just as Hackett will need to be formally approved by the Regents.
You may think it's silly, but that's how it works. Given those realities, the guy tasked with making the decision will at least take the temperature of the Regents before he does it.
|12 weeks 18 hours ago||If the students had been||
If the students had been smart enough to take advantage of an invention called the "winter coat" they'd have been fine. Instead most of them were wearing sweatshirts and started leaving in droves once the shadows fell on the student section.
|12 weeks 2 days ago||the athletics department pays all scholarships||
out of athletic department revenues, which come from 3 major sources:
1. football/hoops ticket sales
2. tv revenues
3. donations (including the PSD).
Michigan income/sales tax, a small portion of which does eventually make its way to UM, is not used to pay for athletic scholarships.

is a pale imitation of the teams on the ice from 1996-2000.
Bring back teams that good and your home ice advantage would come right back, too.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||He isn't playing||
because he's injured, and Michigan won't say anything about injured players unless they've been ruled out for the season.
There's nothing in that story that would impact his college eligibility.
