Not a good idea to attack…

Not a good idea to attack Sam as a journalist.  It demonstrates your ignorance of what professional journalism looks like.

Harbaugh will never be OT,…

Harbaugh will never be OT, will always be a welcome topic.  Anyone who wants to say otherwise needs to demonstrate how a star QB and 9-year Coach is no longer a welcome topic all year.

Coach Móore made a great…

Coach Móore made a great hire; welcome Coach Martindale!

Uh, it's not like observing…

Uh, it's not like observing the podium at a military parade in Red Square and viewing who is there and their location vis-a-vis the General Secretary of the CPSU.  Coaches have family obligations, etc. like everyone else.

Clink and Mike will be…

Clink and Mike will be promoted to Co-Coordinators to run the Defense under Sherrone.  He trusts them based on his working with them the past 2 years;  he will have them find quality assistants to work under them.

WELCOME Head Coach Moore! …

WELCOME Head Coach Moore!  Enjoy your tenure as Michigan's Head Coach!  You earned it!

Jim Harbaugh single-handedly…

Jim Harbaugh single-handedly resurrected the Michigan football program from mediocrity.  He left the NFL to re-build a Michigan program from the ashes of a single double digit win season in the prior 7 years.  He did what no college coach in the modern era of playoffs has done- winning 3 consecutive league championships and playoff berths plus a 15-0 national championship in a 3 year period.  I think he deserves the right to work at the NFL level again and the eternal respect of anyone connected to Michigan football- alumni, students, faculty, staff, administrators, media and fans.

If your favorite team is…

If your favorite team is going by these ‘experts’ talent opinions, they will miss out on the most underrated pick, JJ McCarthy.  He has all the natural physical, mental, and leadership skills to be a Super Bowl QB.  Coach Harbaugh recognized this and Jim is an astute talent evaluator, especially at the QB position.

Bjork was the AD at Miss…

Bjork was the AD at Miss. who was involved in the Hugh Freeze/Hoiuston McNutt fiasco; and he also defended Miss. when Shea Patterson and his attorney Tom Mars brought accusations of fraud against the school.

Coach Harbaugh and Trump are…

Coach Harbaugh and Trump are polar opposites-  Coach is all about THE TEAM; Trump is all about Trump.

If your point is that Coach…

If your point is that Coach Harbaugh wants to improve equity in the economic structure of college football, of course he does.  He’s repeatedly and unequivocally stated that sentiment and goal every chance he gets.  But that is not his primary focus regarding staying.  He is all about family and will stay at Michigan until (1) he retires from coaching or (2) his youngest kids go to college AND his parents pass away, whichever happens first.  He is not leaving for the NFL now or in the future.

During this holiday season…

During this holiday season let us all remind ourselves of the most common lesson of the ages-  when you mess with others' exploitative practices and their holier-than-thou false images, then you are going to get whacked.  Jim- the NCAA, Big 10, ESPN, etc. all say- what we're trying to do to you is not personal, it's just business.

Any analysis of Bama needs…

Any analysis of Bama needs to also include Arkansas and Auburn film.  Texas was too early and Georgia was battling key injuries.  You know that Alabama is re-configuring their approach to better prevent Milroe from making mistakes (like excessive holding on to the ball, running without tucking the ball securely, throwing into double coverage, throwing back across the field, etc.)  They will call plenty of deep throws into one-on-one coverage, QB draws, QB sneaks, QB sweeps, etc.   Nick knows the game rides on Milroe’s success holding on to the ball, plus getting first downs with his legs, plus hitting a long pass or 2.  Nick is still a defensive guy and probably believes Michigan can’t get over 21 points by its offense alone.

Actually, neither you nor…

Actually, neither you nor anyone else not directly involved know anything about Harbaugh’s contract negotiations.  For all anybody knows, a contract extension (written modification of current contract) has already been signed.  It could contain a clause re the NFL or not.  It might contain a clause making the new contract effective on the day after the current football season ends, at which time it will be announced. Anything said about the matter by outsiders, including me, is pure speculation.

Michigan should not and will…

Michigan should not and will not change its positive culture of recruiting good athletes who are also team-oriented, willing to compete for playing time, good students,  and not demanding ridiculous amounts of upfront pay-for-play cash.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  Name 1 other team than Michigan that has won its conference championship AND a spot in the national championship playoffs for 3 consecutive years?  You can’t, there is none.

The Hypocrisy continues.

The Hypocrisy continues.

The Committee knew of the…

The Committee knew of the FSU QB injury weeks ago, but didn’t lower their ranking until Alabama beat Georgia, potentially leaving the SEC out of the playoffs.  So they then had to bump both Texas and Bama above FSU.  The SEC bias in the administration of all things involving college football is so obvious.

Oregon got a big break on…

Oregon got a big break on the PI call.  WR and DB both (1) had hands on each other, and (2) looked back for the ball.  It also looked like the timekeeper had his/her thumb on the scale in favor of Oregon having time to spare to get the TD.

Allar’s most consistent…

Allar’s most consistent plays on third down and more than 3 is to pass to a tight end or run up the middle.  We need to stop those plays.

Enjoyed this illustrated…

Enjoyed this illustrated presentation re the Purdue game.  I had good seats and could see that Michigan's pre-snap motion was creating great passing opportunities against Purdue's man coverage. Thanks Seth for explaining the details.

Stealing signs is part of…

Stealing signs is part of the game and not against the rules; it doesn’t matter if the coaches received input from Stalions.  The alleged rules violation involves Michigan sending staff to opponents’ games (not at Michigan Stadium) with the specific assignment to scout them in person.  To sustain the allegation, the NCAA needs to prove  (1) staff attended the opponent’s game in person, (2) staff scouted the opponent while in attendance, (3) Michigan assigned the staff to do (1) and (2).

2022 - MSU PLAYERS,…

2022 - MSU PLAYERS, IMMEDIATELY AFTER A BIG LOSS TO MICHIGAN, ASSAULT AND INJURE 2 MICHIGAN PLAYERS [ON VIDEO] WHILE THEIR COACHES LOOK AWAY.  NCAA- (Crickets) - NO STATEMENT, NO INVESTIGATION, NO PUNISHMENTS.
2023 - 2 COACHES ALLEGEDLY COMPLAIN ABOUT MICHIGAN READING SIGNS DURING GAMES. NCAA - INITIATES INVESTIGATION, NOTIFIES BIG TEN WHICH NOTIFIES TEAMS AND STORY GETS OUT IN MIDDLE OF SEASON BEFORE ANY OBVIOUS FACTS OTHER THAN MICHIGAN KICKING BIG TEN ASS ON THE FIELD OF PLAY GOING ON 3 YEARS IN A ROW. C’MONNNNN…..

Apologies for the CAPS, just going crazy over NCAA crap.

Reality bites.

Thank you, Coach Harbaugh,…

Thank you, Coach Harbaugh, for standing up for the athletes who do the work, who make the sacrifices, in order to entertain us year after year.  College athletes, like the rest of America's workers, are finally waking up to the fact they are the TALENT that makes everything possible, and that need to share equitably in the revenues of their business.

The NCAA is an obvious…

The NCAA is an obvious corrupt disaster and has been for awhile, just like the current Supreme Court. It has no ethics, no credibility, no common sense, no legitimacy and should be disbanded. It virtually ignored the seriousness of the widespread pervasive Tennessee violations, ignores enforcement of its own NIL rules, ignores the widespread portal tampering.

I take offense that anyone, including some so-called Michigan fans, thinks it ok for a 4-game suspension at the beginning of the season on the ground it won't hurt the team's record.  FOUR GAMES! 1/3 of the entire season! Think of the impact on all the young Freshman and Sophomore players who lose the opportunity to share their first playing time with the Head Coach THEY PERSONALLY CHOSE TO PLAY FOR. Think of their parents and families.

There are significant other human costs resulting from the NCAA bullies singling out Harbaugh for punishment while the SEC and others flagrantly violate the rules. I have no respect for anyone tut-tutting and clucking “you have to play by the rules.” The rules aren’t really rules unless they are enforced and administered fairly and completely, in proper proportion to the harms involved.

Congrats to Jett and Kobe,…

Congrats to Jett and Kobe, and to all the Michigan coaches for their successes in getting their players' NBA dreams realized!

Not a smart approach now…

Not a smart approach now that USC  is in the “Big 10”.  It would be better to have OSU, Michigan, PSU, and USC all play each other every year.  For the foreseeable future, those are the most valuable matchups by far and should be guaranteed.  It’s a wasted opportunity to forgo any of these great matchups.

I'm not clear about why there was doubt about Juwan's Howard ability to successfully recruit another valuable F/C.  Happy for this great news.

Good point.  How tall is Von Miller?  6'2" or 6"3"?  Speed, strength, technique and 'motor' seem to be the key ingredients for superior edge rushers.

While I'm absolutely not a…

While I'm absolutely not a fan of Green, the refs gave the game to Sacramento by their calls in the situation.  When a player willfully holds onto the leg of an opponent, that's a foul which could have caused injury and certainly provokes fights.  The refs should have given both players the same level of punishment, either both Tech 1 or both Tech 2.  While Green deserved punishment, his team didn't deserve unequal treatment compared with Sacramento.

Keeping the top recruited…

Keeping the top recruited players after they have a full year developing under J Howard, former NBA coach, was never going to be easy.  That's the main issue.

Welcome to Michigan, Jadyn; your future, and Michigan's, is secure.

Congratulations to both…

Congratulations to both Coach Naurato and to Michigan for sealing the deal now.

What personal attributes…

What personal attributes about Chris Beard do you find so endearing? His physicality with his fiancé’ before his arrest for a felony assault and battery?  Or his persuasive ability to get his fiancé’ to recant and drop her charges?  He has a great pedigree, after all, as a UT student manager when Coach Howard was merely just a fifth of the Fab Five.

The people who say Coach…

The people who say Coach Howard is “on the hot seat” are exactly like the idiots who said Coach Harbaugh was “on the heat seat” before he got to the CFB Playoffs twice in a row.  Michigan started 3 freshmen and a sophomore today while Rutgers started 4 seniors.  Michigan has had to rebuild constantly because of Coach Howard’s successes in recruiting and developing young players. Michigan unexpectedly lost an incoming sophomore guard to the Portal and an incoming senior guard to injury, plus two starters lost a bunch of time to injuries this season.  Because Coach Howard never blames anything or anyone but himself for disappointing results, the media and bandwagon fans focus on blaming him, unlike their treatment of the has-been rival coach who ALWAYS throws his players under the bus and/or blames injuries.

The Big Ten is the most…

The Big Ten is the most competitive league in the country.  Therefore, Even if Michigan loses today, the Big 10 Tournament offers the opportunity to win games to become NCAA eligible.  However, based on today’s Big 10 trends, this game is more of a toss-up than a clear Indiana advantage.

This is a. Joke right?  Two…

This is a. Joke right?  Two photogenic twin women athletes singled out by NCAA for punishment.  I know, the NCAA claims they aren’t punishing athletes, just the anthl department and the coach.  I call BS.  When you cut athletic budgets, scholarships, and suspend coaches you are negatively impacting all the athletes on the team, including the Cavinder twins. [The NCAA has to assert they’re not punishing NIL athletes in an attempt to avoid anti-trust liability. However, courts look to the restraint-of-trade behavior, not the BS statements, of defendants.]. As an identical twin father of identical twins, I’m sure the market value of the Cavinder twins’ NIL is through the roof.  They should sue the NCAA in federal court for discrimination, and especially for arbitrarily selecting and restraining them in their NIL business.  They can allege indirect injury, withstand a motion to dismiss, then conduct discovery to show the widespread practices of NIL on male sports teams.  The NCAA won’t want to let the case go too far to the point where the truth of NIL practices and the NCAA’s acquiescence gets publicized, In any case, such a lawsuit is clearly not frivolous and the result will naturally increase their NIL value from its current high level.

It’s all about Michigan’s…

It’s all about Michigan’s defense, both half-court and transition.  Young teams need to be thought to focus on guarding without fouling, active hands, communication, blocking out to secure defensive rebounds and keeping their heads on a swivel to prevent easy back door plays.  On offense the focus is on avoiding turnovers, offensive fouls, and stagnation.

As a stroke survivor and…

As a stroke survivor and retired attorney, I wish Richard a steady recovery.  Science tells us the quicker a stroke survivor begins intensive rehab of their impaired functions, whether movement, speech, memory, cognition, etc., the more successful the outcomes.  Also, as depression is one of the most common conditions among stroke survivors, it is critical they take proactive precautions.  These include, among others, sharing feelings with family and friends, avoid isolating by joining stroke survivor groups in person or online, posssibly getting medical advice re low dosage anti-depressants.  The key piece of advice: use the impaired function (no matter how frustrating and difficult at first) or it will be lost due to lack of use; it just won’t return automatically after the stroke did its damage.

I guarantee you that Trump…

I guarantee you that Trump has a long well-known history of prejudice and discrimination, back to when he and his father were together found guilty of racism in their rental practices.  Trump made discriminatory statements about Latino immigrants from the day he ran for President in the 2016 election.  These are facts which Trump-voters either knew or could easily have discovered.

This is much ado about…

This is much ado about nothing;  there is zero chance Michigan could ever agree to Anson's pitch.  No one needs authorization from the AD, President or Board of Regents to start an NIL organization, whatever the label or business structure.  But, if you're going to use the UM name, use UM-owned alumni lists, or use any other UM assets, you need to make a written deal with the UM.  Just as we saw with the MSU pay-for-some-of-Tuck-comin' deal, documents relating to the UM-NIL organization and finances would be considered public records subject to disclosure and public audit.  Moreover,  a 501(c)(3) non-profit structure is particularly questionable, whether others are using it or not.  Monies given specifically to pay for athletes' NIL rights cannot be justified as having a charitable  educational or scientific purpose or function.
