Signing Prince was never a good idea. He was arguably the worst fielding 1st baseman in baseball when we got him. And off their career peak overweight players decline at twice the rate of non-overweight players.

The Lions' biggest D need has been and remains *pure* CB's. Both the front line starters and depth guys. Mikey doesn't really fit the bill.
Though the last couple of years I have really come to respect just how good the consensus mocks are at projection. This mock is just one of a large group. The last consensus "Grinding" has is nearly a week old and Mikey isn't in their top 50. I highly doubt Mikey is going in the 1st round.
I pulled my son off the mound when as a 10-yo his coach had him start on Sunday after throwing 82 (5 innings, 8 K 3 BB 2R against 11-yos) on Saturday. That led to a week of emails and phone calls with the league president acting as a go-between.
I watched PJ Fleck's first spring game at Western. Was the most disorganized thing I'd ever seen. Meant precisely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

John Harbaugh is the NFL's most ruthless HC when it comes to handling assistants. You could be doing a good job and if John thinks he can do just a little better you are shitcanned. I'd take a hard look at Martindale.
I think Seth is right that the Amoeba is well-suited for beating good college QBs. The coach still has to be good at teaching & calling the scheme and also good at recruiting.

Looking over Hurtt's work in Seattle its tough to be impressed. Seahawk D took a tumble the moment Hurtt took over. Some of the issues definitely can be laid at the front office. If Bobby Wagner is your leading tackler at age 33 that's on the GM.

This is why I like to look at short yardage run D, where typically box defender count goes up. And Seattle has given up plenty of short yardage run TDs this past season.
