This. I don't know if Nuss will or deserves to stay. But my reading of the things that have and haven't changed since Borges left leads me to this very conclusion. I do think Hoke has imposed constraints on Nuss.
Some things really were Borges' fault. The OL is nowhere near the tire fire it was LY. Run plays mate better with pass plays. Borges' twisted take on base/counter/counter-counter basic theory exists no more.
But other things really do have Hoke's imprint on them. Like the execution (and as John McKay said, I'm in favor of it) of our 2-minute Chinese fire drill.

Graham is not necessarily a spread-to-pass guy. At Tulsa was spread-to-run after 1st season. He hands this off to the OC and gets out of the way. Which is why a Graham/Stitt combo is so tasty.

Our only child is a 12-yo son - with a big pitching arm - who can wear a different Tigers t-shirt to school for weeks before repeating despite growing 5 inches in the last year. What makes him happiest makes the whole family happiest.

Aranda caught Anderson's eye by coming up with X's & O's that gave Nevada's Pistol run game fits. Was able to graft two-gap principles onto a one-gap defense to stymie the backside of a zone run without sacrificing on the front side. He's an excellent technician.

True dat. If you've never seen Ernie you're missing a good time. My 12-yo saw it thrice.

Yes Graham hired Malzahn and later Morris. Those moves in and of themselves weren't a big deal. The big deal was that he let them run their offenses without interference.
People forget what a big deal this was when Graham took over Tulsa. Malzahn had a very rought time of it at Arkansas because McNutt wouldn't leave the offense alone and he eventually sidelined Gus completely.
Graham trusted Gus and told him he was being hired for his offensive expertise and would be left alone to show it.
At Auburn after Newton "graduated" the cupboard was bare. I think 4 of 5 OL graduated as well. So the points dipped a bit and Chizik started meddling with it. Gus leaves and a year later everyone at Auburn realizes the wrong guy was head coach.
Graham can credibly lure a guy like Bob Stitt to Ann Arbor. When he tells a coach he'll be allowed to do his thing you can take that to the bank.

For the billionth time, Heeke did not hire Kelly.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||He really did this at Central||
If we hire Heeke the first thing he'll do is ignore football and re-sign the wrestling coach.

There is no less consistent stat then defensive turnovers.

Except that Codger Clint turned out to be right on the money with that speech.

My db sez that on average the tenure at non-P5 schools is ~20% longer.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||of course they party||
You *have* to party in Mt Pleasant, otherwise the natural gas smell gets to you. They do know how to live it up.

Yes, but TO margin is not a repeatable skill. 3rd down conversions may be.

I might be the only WR fan on the planet who thinks Pastorius was overrated.

Actually, that riddle goes like this: "If half a hen can lay half an egg in half a day, how many pancakes does it take to cover a doghouse?"

"Or why a heretofore deep and competent secondary gave up 404 yards to Gary Nova"
Why? Three reasons. 1) Ralph Friedgen, 2) Ralph Friedgen, and 3) Ralph Friedgen
|7 weeks 2 days ago||are you sure?||
Interesting that you think hiring Enos is a feather in Heeke's cap.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||um, no||
Interesting idea, except for the fact that Jones & Kelly weren't hired by the same AD. Kelly was hired by Deromedi. Jones was hired by Heeke. And Heeke hired Enos.
In fact Heeke seemed to dislike Kelly more than a bit. When Heeke first hit Mt Pleasant in the new job his first dealings were with the wrestling coach.
If you wanna go ask Deromedi that might be an idea.

You forgot to mention Rutgers' biggest asset: new OC Ralph Friedgen.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||you really think Phil Knight is gonna let him go?||
Helfrich ain't going anywhere. He was born and raised in Oregon and is very happy there. Read the recent Grantland piece.
Butch Jones: I question a guy who had Dan LeFevour for 3 seasons and couldn't get a better YPA than Kelly did in Danny's freshman season. Especially when Kelly had the kid riding the bench to start the season and basically had to make things up when the original starter - Brian Brunner - went down.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||I'm being serious here, not sarcastic||
So........ who exactly was kicked out for not adding value? Can you give a name? Any name will do.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||No||
I have a problem with a head coach who has Dan LeFevour for 3 years and can't get a higher YPA out of him than Brian Kelly did in his freshman season.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||no doubt||
Oh absolutely. I remember well the mess Chip Kelly made of Oregon.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||I had to sit down||
Fred Jackson? Oh please no. Not a chance.
Hecklinski? I could see that.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||no pushover||
If you think Rutgers sucks, think again. Any team whose OC is Ralph Friedgen most definitely does not suck. The Fridge is back doing what he does best.

Dominos' pizza was crap *long* before Brandon became CEO.

Kansas is probably a step down from NC State. Don't know that home ties would be enough.
But hell yeah he should be a candidate here.

I believe the term you're looking for is "crapweasel".
|9 weeks 3 days ago||ugh||
I have found the ESPN play-by-play charts to be very problematic. Most games have at least one or two records that are very difficult to parse mechanically.
