Actual answer: TV sports are…

Actual answer: TV sports are an entertainment industry, and virtually everyone involved wants to make money off of it however they can.

Michigan fans are rabid about their football team, and rage is the best way to get engagement. Fans of other schools don't like Michigan because they are fans of other schools, and rage is still the best way to get engagement. If you get most everyone in your audience worked up, it's payday! Support your local mgobloggers, kids.

The most optimistic for MSU…

The most optimistic for MSU version of this I think I can see is this being a way to get NIL wallets flowing a little more. Otherwise... wow

I would unironically love to see points scored from beyond half court be worth 4 points

I felt like an insane person…

I felt like an insane person with how people were complaining about the refs, specifically around the game misconduct, but there were other moments as well. I thought they called a pretty good game overall, and much as it sucks, I agree that contact to the head call was right in line with what we've seen all year.

Didn't fully understand what happened with the too many men call, so I appreciate you shedding some light on that.

When it's going badly, I…

When it's going badly, I remind myself that it's a bunch of kids playing a game, and this affects my life in literally no way except the stupid tribalism we've invented between schools about this silly game.

When it's going well that stuff is still all true, but I let that serotonin flow.

I'd give him the aware…

I'd give him the aware solely based on his performance in the Illinois game. After watching what that poor dog had to go through with the frisbee, it felt like a miracle that anything went through the air as planned, much less an entire game of great shots.

I'm a little biased, though. Just a little

It 100% does. I remember…

It 100% does. I remember watching him go into the medical tent after that play. He's been off ever since :(

This was definitely the most…

This was definitely the most fun game of the year. Drama, teams playing well, come from behind, it's tough to beat in a game you don't win.

Yeah, I agree, what? Tons of…

Yeah, I agree, what? Tons of bands do this; it's just how things work. I cringe a little bit that they get the "I guess technically you can come, just don't be seen or heard" experience in the stands these days.

People treated Cade like a…

People treated Cade like a Pariah. Booing, not applauding his presence, just getting actively upset when it's clear the guy we knew needs to find himself again. It's so weird. Like, no he's not playing well, but geeeez lay off a little bit? I would like to get our big ten champ qb who beat OSU back to something resembling himself?

Watching the replay in the stadium, it was very clearly a touchdown. Practically his entire lower leg hit the ground in the endzone first

Two of my biggest Michigan…

Two of my biggest Michigan Football claims to fame were:

1)  Being about 10 feet from Braylon Edwards for one of the most famous photographs of Braylonfest. Didn't quite get in the shot myself, unfortunately.

2) Making eye contact with Steve Breaston right before his kick return on the drive that ended in Manningham in the endzone. "The team is being met by the band down in the corner" refers to an activity I participated in.

Just so you know - from…

Just so you know - from Chittenden County (most populated area of Vermont), Boston is a 3+ hour drive, NYC is a 6 hour drive, and Philadelphia is also 6+ hours. Going to any of those places can be a bit like "going up north" here. However, actually going north to Montreal is the shortest drive and people often forget about that one (not without reason in the past two years).

One of the few celebrities I've run into in the wild, and I'm a little embarrassed to say I had no idea who he was. We were staying at a little cabin resort in New England. He would hang out at the pool for a lot of the day and chat a bit with us. Seemed like a nice guy. Rest in peace, Marvin.

Brian, I encountered this blog back in 2005 (I think? brain's getting creaky) as I was mid-season in my final year in the marching band. There isn't a single post that's gone by that I haven't appreciated your writing style and content, as well as the people you've employed for the love of Michigan sports. Thank you for the energy you've put in, as well as for your vulnerability in this latest post. Please do not feel guilty if you need to take time for yourself, or if you haven't been able to put in as much energy as you would like.

They look like a bunch of…

They look like a bunch of players who are used to being better than everyone else. At least in this one they bothered to get mildly upset when a PSU player harassed the crease?

That's tough to coach up in a short period of time. We're in for a ride. Minnesota next week will be roughhhhhhh. Hopefully for everyone they get a nice break to get fresh legs and brains back at least

Yeah! Wait.. does being king mean we have to actually do stuff?

Last I heard, there was…

Last I heard, there was still going to be a class with the option to opt into remote or quit for a year, and performances would be for social media. There's been about as much drama around that as there has been for football itself, at least within the band sphere. I'm not sure where that's left off at this point though.

Hahaha that's excellent. I love that they took the usual "lol crossdressing" joke and turned it on its head. I kinda want to hear him actually singing it now... then again, maybe there's a real good reason they dubbed him

Green guy behind me bitching the whole time about anything that went against MSU or for Michigan. Green folks in front of me being fine, but generally annoyed me because they're sparty. I kinda hate having opposing fans anywhere near me ?

I was in the band for Braylonfest and all his catches basically happened 10-20 feet from my face, so yeah... that.

As an alumni band member in a band that plays Temptation and Hawaiian War Chant at literally every other thing we do on homecoming, I've been really happy to play actual half-time music the past couple homecomings. When I was in the band, I used to kind of dread being part of the alumni band because it was always the same songs. I love T & W, but man... I also really like getting to learn new halftime music once a year.
