Don't know if this will post correctly, but this is from user corundum from this very site.

This answers pretty much all of your questions.

Surprisingly, Miami does not…

Surprisingly, Miami does not have a men’s golf team.

He was recruited by UM but…

He was recruited by UM but was always ticketed to MSU. Older brother (2 years older) played there. I think his hs coach played there too.

Don’t know where you’re…

Don’t know where you’re located but if you’re anywhere near Ann Arbor, try miles of golf. I go to the one in cincy for fittings and there is no place better.

Kent State is a powerhouse…

Kent State is a powerhouse in golf (men's too, although the women are the better program). The last time they didn't win the MAC was when Tom Brady was the starter...at Michigan.

Hard to single out one play,…

Hard to single out one play, but I'm shocked to not see a mention of the 2013 Penn State with Fitz going for 1 YPC on 27 carries.

This is Roxy and Lucy. They…

This is Roxy and Lucy. They're my best friends because they're always cheery and much more enjoyable than people to be around.

I feel like I'm pretty…

I feel like I'm pretty qualified to speak on this given my situation. I'm 34 and have never been married. Girlfriend is 32 and we've been together 8+ years. She nags me consistently about how we need to "get married", but I see no reason why. Neither of us want kids, although she did at one point. Everyone looks at us and wonders why we're not married, but I don't feel any urge and since we're both happily committed, I don't get why I'd lock myself into an institution.

People who are married, what am I missing/what's "wrong" with me?

Won't be going in tomorrow…

Won't be going in tomorrow or anytime for a long time. I was laid off on Wednesday by my best friend. It's a very small company (3 employees) and the profits are/were salaries. No profit, no salary. I have a decent fallback option to work for my girlfriend for at least the next few months. But my best friend - I don't know what he's going to do.

I work in the recruiting…

I work in the recruiting industry for a different sport and this is completely false for that sport. Official visits do not preclude someone from walking on and it happens quite often in the sport I deal with. I would be very surprised if basketball was any different.

Also, walk-ons get the same perks as athletes outside of scholarships and stipends. They get full access to trainers, use of the facilities, practice time, etc.

This man know what he's…

This man know what he's talking about. Get this and a side of fries and a batido (milkshake) to wash it down with. You won't regret it.

The short answer: No, its…

The short answer: No, its not important. I went from a car in the mid-range for gas mileage to a lifted Jeep a few years ago. I work from home and put on less than 10,000 miles per year. I get about 19 MPG. I'd love better gas mileage, but I won't be giving up the Jeep for quite a while. Too much fun.

As an avid college golf fan,…

As an avid college golf fan, Barlow should be an upgrade. His recruiting chops are some of, if not the best, in the midwest (including his former HC Mike Small). I think he can definitely be an upgrade. That said, expecting Michigan to compete for National Championships is foolish. They don't sit in a good recruiting area. The weather is bad for golf. No way around that. They can attempt to pump as much money into it as they want, but schools in the south get 4-6 months more of outdoor practice per year. That's as much as 2 years once guys are seniors. I wouldn't expect another National Championship out of a northern school for quite some time.

If you like basketball, or…

If you like basketball, or good writing, I'd recommend Hoop Dreams. The documentary that goes along with the book is great too.

I have quite a bit of…

I have quite a bit of experience in this. I've spent the last 6 years dealing with elite level junior athletes (in their sport) for my profession. The majority of my clients go on to play D1 in college. That said, there are 2 pieces of advice I'd share.

Let the junior decide what rate they want their career to progress at. If they are really serious about their sport and are going to make it big time, they will have the drive and love for the game that fuels it. If they don't have that, nothing you can do as a parent will get them to that level. There are simply too may other athletes out there willing to work that hard. If they're all in, monitor them and make sure they don't burn out, but be supportive of the passion they have for the game.

Secondly, be positive at all times. Each game/match/event isn't life or death. Do NOT let them see your negativity. It has killed more careers than I can count. Juniors start to associated their parents' happiness with their level of play and it's terrible to watch. Make everything about the journey and progress oriented. Results based analysis will deter them. When dealing with a tough day, point out the positives (good attitude, battled back, etc.) and refrain from focusing on what went wrong. When dealing with what went wrong, make them learning experiences and not a lecture about how they messed up.

I read this entire thread…

I read this entire thread and although a lot of great games were mentioned, not a single reference to Fallout 3 or the original Gears of War?

No David Baas? Did the same…

No David Baas? Did the same thing as Mason Cole (position switch along the offensive line) except played center at a higher level.

Never

You can count on never on the men's side. The course isn't long enough. Maybe a chance on the women's side, but the NCAA is shying away from postseason tournaments in the north.

He was kicked off

UGA for being a low life POS. Teammates unanimously hated him. Went to Augusta State where his new teammates unanimously hated him. He refuses to talk to his family and hasn't for years. Got them escorted out of a professional event once when he learned they were there. The list goes on and on. Just an all-around shithead.

Chaminade Biggest upset that I know of. Although the game was in Hawaii, it was absolutely not a preseason game. Virginia was 8-0 at the time.
Anyone else Just get switched to the Xavier game with under 2 minutes left and not be able to see the end? Not often I say this, but fuck Fox.
Watching The panthers lay a damn egg. Family in town from the Carolinas. Drinking Woodford Reserve Double Oaked so it's all good.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked As someone who rotates bourbons regularly and has a glass a day, it's as good as anything and not overly expensive.
Red-shirts

Can be removed at any time. If Davis was currently better than Teske and/or Donnal, he'd be playing.

Davis If Davis was tearing it up so much in practice, he wouldn't be red-shirting.
As most have said

It's extremely beneficial. I've been fitting myself for the last 10 years, although I still have the same fitment as then. I've fit probably 100-150 people intoover the last ten years as well. It definitely helps.  If your swing/ball flight/shot pattern is different the day you get fit than what it normally is, you may want to go back and get fit on a different day.  Otherwise, someone could put you into clubs that don't quite match who you are.

Would be nice

It'd be nice to see them at the top of the Big 10, but saying they'll win a title soon is a bit much.  There is a WHOLE lot of ground to make up on the top Big 10 teams.

Very Early On

I found MGoBlog in August 2004 during my freshman year of college while searching for a good Michigan blog.  Ive been daily since.  Site had a lot less traffic back then.  Guessing not many people have been here longer.

Cookie Monster

is more of my personality than body type.  At least when training.  Right now, I don't look too far off of his body physique though.

Packing on weight

I've got until the end of the month to pack on weight by eating all the clean food I can find.  At that point, I'll start the cut for the biggest bodybuilding show of my life.  I've put on quite a bit of good weight since my last show and am looking forward to this coming one.

As for lifting, I go heavy 4+ times per week.  I've started to recently mix some higher rep sets in, but it's still mostly low to medium rep sets right now.

Email sent.  Thanks Gil.

Rivalries

Isn't a great rivalry supposed to be fairly even?  This seemed pretty one-sided.

Tackle

I think he's a better tackle prospect than any other position.  I'm far from an expert, but he doesn't appear to have the athleticism that top college TEs have.  I agreed that he is an excellent blocker already and has the body/frame to be an elite OT.  I don't think he's explosive enough to be an elite DE (although I think he's a better DE prospect than TE).

Who you calling fat?

Thanks

I've used BTN2Go in the past for live games and found it helpful.  Any clue if they display the score before you click into watching the game?

Sounds like a great thing for

Sounds like a great thing for those that have it.  Unfortunately, I'm stuck with Time Warner.

Lewan did

Actually, Lewan was playing LT in his RS freshmen season.  Started 9 games there.

Those guys

are both coming off serious injuries or are still injured.  I can't see Fox playing LT, so he was never going to be Mag's backup.  I bet a healthy LTT would be ahead of Cole.

This made me laugh

at work.  Nothing makes me laugh at work.  +1 and excellent first post for you sir.

Friday, so here, have this

Agreed 100%

I do like Thompson and think he is worthy of an offer.  But I prefer Bilal.  So if "losing" out on Thompson nets Michigan Bilal, I'd call it an upgrade.

Taking legacy recruits and in-state guys always looks good, but to offer those guys, they should be worthy of said offer even if they were a random recruit from Arizona.  Taking guys who aren't as good because they have connections is a bad long term plan.

McMillon

I don't think he's very impressive physically.  He's big and has a good motor.  But he's not great at reading plays, isn't explosive, and his lateral speed leaves a lot to be desired.  You can coach up a lot in college, but athleticism isn't on that list.

Great Addition

I think Bilal would be a great addition and I prefer him over Thompson (although I prefer both significantly more than McMillon).  I also think Bilal is destined for OLB even before factoring in Kirkland.

This is good?

Click the link

If you click the link to the Big Ten media voting, Purdue actually finished with 31.5 votes.  With 33 voters.  Less than all last place votes.

What is this I don't even

Just quit my job

leaving for a start-up that an old friend runs.  35% pay raise and 5 months PTO per year.  Great weather too.

I also didn't poop my pants on the way to work like I did last Friday.

Weekend Going to my favorite burger joint tonight then having friends over for beer and cards. Tomorrow is take the girlfriend to the top rated steakhouse in the city for her birthday. And I pooped my pants this morning on the way to work. Seriously. Could use a good banging after that.
You could

You could always, you know, just not read it.
