If OSU beat reporter Pete Thamel is reporting it, it must be true.

Great job with the…

Great job with the timestamps Comrade. +1 for that.

ESPN reported 3 autobids for…

ESPN reported 3 autobids for SEC/B1G, 2 each for B12/ACC, 1 for G5.

Why is it so easy for Texas…

Why is it so easy for Texas to generate such a contract for its head coach and so hard for Michigan to do so years in advance?

Oregon may not have been on…

Oregon may not have been on it because they didn't have access to the data.

Everybody nudes.

Everybody nudes.

This. The recruiting / NIL…

This. The recruiting / NIL value of Herbert is worth the $2m per year. Mind boggling that Warde can't understand this.

I'd love a shirt that listed…

I'd love a shirt that listed all of the national championship years in simple block lettering. Not the corporate Valiant font.

Why?

Why?

I believe Webb reported that…

I believe Webb reported that Clink is one of the people under consideration for the DC role, with Elston as co-DC.

Very interesting Comrade…

Very interesting Comrade. Thanks for posting. Quoting that full comment here:

Word is Moore did reach out [to Hurtt] but never offered a DC position. Last I heard they were still planning to promote Clink. This is a guy that Moore knew from a previous stop and he reached out in case Elston decided to leave. There is a potential that a CO-DC could have been negotiated, but Clink was to be the guy calling the Ravens scheme. I think Elston has also been offered another title to help entice him to stay. Elston is a college guy at heart, so it would be very surprising if he left. I’m surprised they haven’t announced anything on that side of the ball though, especially if Clink is being promoted and Elston is getting an upgrade in title, possible Co-DC as well. Possibly still negotiating terms.

Ben wanted 10 years at S&C, would have settled for 7 and a 10% pay increase. Warde didn’t want to do either. I think if he had offered even an extra year from his last extension and a 10-15% increase Ben would have stuck around. With that said, Ben and Moore do feel like Tress can carry on with Ben’s program. The question is how does he connect with players? S&C guys are the ones around players the absolute most. They’re a big part of development and recruiting. Tress is younger and a lot of the guys like him, but a bunch of current guys are still really upset Ben is gone.

The BS about Hart quitting is just that. Hart might look for somewhere he can become a coordinator and get a chance to finally move up. So there is a chance he moves on, but he has not just up and quit the team which is another rumor being spread that’s crazy. Hart will interview for some positions elsewhere, but highly unlikely he follows Harbaugh. People seem to forget Hart and Harbaugh have history. They put it behind them for the team and have worked well together, but Hart isn’t one to just follow Harbaugh around. They’re professional together, but certainly not best friends of any kind. Moving to the Chargers to be a RB coach wouldn’t do him any favors to getting his dream job. He’ll look for somewhere that will promote him and eventually try to become a HC.

I should specify that Balas…

I should specify that Balas didn't explicitly name Warde in his comments, but it seems pretty clear that this was Warde's decision, given that agreeing to Herbert's salary request would require Warde's clearance (due to the assistant coach budget being up to Warde). Theoretically, it could have been Sherrone saying no to Herbert's terms, but this is highly unlikely.

Not cool for Harbaugh to gut…

Not cool for Harbaugh to gut the program on his way out. I don't begrudge him his desire to go to the NFL and pursue a Super Bowl. But to take Michigan's most valuable asset—one that is *more* valuable to Michigan than it is to him at San Diego—is not cool. Tells me it's all about him and not about the school he claims to love.

Fire Warde.

Fire Warde.

Sam Webb said this on 247 ($…

Sam Webb said this on 247 ($):

I KNOW that former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt is among the names to watch for Michigan’s next defensive coordinator. His last college coaching job was as a defensive line coach at Louisville when he was on Charlie Strong’s staff with Moore.

In a separate post, he said:

Sources informed me this morning that defensive coordinator Jesse Minter met with several defensive players to let them know he will be heading to Los Angeles with Jim Harbaugh to be Jim Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator. The news wasn’t unexpected, and as such, I’m hearing feelers had already been out to replacement candidates, including previously reported targets Clint Hurtt (who previously served as a defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks), and Jim Leonhard (who previously served as a defensive coordinator for Wisconsin and was an analyst for Illinois last season).

I do begrudge him one bit…

I do begrudge him one bit. Maybe not four bits or a byte, but at least one bit.

Yes. This is what we might…

Yes. This is what we might call “socialist football”: a combination of manball principles with a dual threat QB.

Here is the clause from…

Here is the clause from Kansas BB coach Bill Self's contract that, apparently, is being adapted for Michigan purposes:

F. Current Infractions Case: The parties agree that Athletics will not terminate Head Coach for cause due to any current infractions matter that involves conduct that occurred on or prior to the date of full execution of this Agreement. If Head Coach is suspended by the NCAA and/or the Big 12 Conference as a result of the pending NCAA infractions matter, Head Coach agreed that he and BCLT will forfeit 50% of earned Salary (Section 4 herein) and Professional Services Payment (section 5 herein) during the time of such suspension. For clarity purposes and by way of example, if Head Coach receives a one-month suspension, then for that month only Head Coach's salary and professional services payment would be reduced by 50% to $9,375 (salary under Section 4) and $114,583 (professional services under Section 5).

Balas is reporting that…

Balas is reporting that Wetzel's reporting is inaccurate, and that the three-man panel is only after he's fired by the AD.

According to the article,…

According to the article, the Chargers organization isn't too keen on the GMs that Harbaugh favors. On the flip side, Michigan is taking steps to address Harbaugh's concerns, by saying Harbaugh couldn't be fired for cause based on current/ongoing investigations, but rather could see a pay cut due to an NCAA-mandated suspension.

Furthermore, the three-man panel provision apparently is something that would only kick in if Michigan fired him and he sued the university, which is considered a less controversial provision.

Every other stadium in the Big Ten (even Minnesota and Michigan State) list their national championships on the stadium walls. I never understood why Michigan doesn't.

John U. Bacon has reported that it is "widely known" that Warde and Harbaugh don't get along.

I have a better idea. We can run the old Michigan wishbone offense with Orji, Edwards, and Mullings. Play actions to the tight ends to keep the Ds honest. Boom.

Is anyone interested in having an MGoMeetup on Monday afternoon? I am going to likely miss the Sunday effort because I only get into town on Monday midday. Perhaps a designated location at the official tailgate?

Better LSU than Bama.

Better LSU than Bama.

Interestingly, looks like…

Interestingly, looks like OSU got Howard to wait until after the transfer portal window *closed* to announce his commitment, so none of OSU's on-roster QBs could transfer out. Slick.

I do remember watching this…

I do remember watching this game on a tiny 13" TV.

Michigan used to have…

Michigan used to have classic uniforms, but then Harbaugh and the players decided that it was wise to ditch maize pants and replace them with white or blue depending on what they were feeling when they woke up in the morning.

Hopefully this is a reprise…

Hopefully this is a reprise of what happened with Mason Graham, who was the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year, but was an underrated recruit (ranked 19th in the state by the 247 composite).

I bit the bullet and bought on StubHub on Tuesday morning (after Texas and Alabama fans dropped out). Didn’t want to risk things getting worse.
