I've been all in on McCaffrey since the reports have leaked out about his play so far, but I think having Speight back is important. The line remains the big IF. Who plays Left and Right Tackle? Let's say for arguments sake that Grant Newsome can't go? Then having Speight back there as a 5th year senior becomes a lot more reassuring, spotty past play aside, for this team to fall back on.
I'm totally cool with beating an undefeated OSU and Iowa, pounding somebody in the Rose Bowl, just missing the playoff and having every team in the country saying holy shit I'm glad we don't have to play Michigan
Faust was so golly gee too. I think that was the first time we'd played them in awhile, but we might've the year before. It was very exciting. It became so much more fun when Holtz was around. Great write up Ace, but wasn't Messner a defensive lineman?
My first game as a student, so I suppose it's an appropriate place for my first post despite lurking for years. Hot day. I remember Beurlein seeming huge. Messner was always a favorite. He was so infectious with his enthusiasm. Great memories.
