I thought that myself when I read that article that talked about a Data Scientist(tm)

Who reported this? Why on earth can't someone play football and major in CE?
|3 weeks 3 days ago||It does seem a bit odd that||
It does seem a bit odd that this was being reported as a done deal when the only apparent source was hearsay from a recruit. Something isn't adding up... either the inital reports were way premature, or these new reports are premature (or a smokescreen).

If he does in fact stay at Stanford, it's safe to assume that they simply matched or beat our offer at the eleventh hour. Despite the fact that Stanford doesn't have much of fan base, they have some well-heeled donors that care enough about that program to write a blank check to keep someone they want. Congrats to the man on his new raise.

... but I'm sure even the most die-hard buckeye fans would agree the jackass at the receiving end of Lewan's fist deserved a beatdown.

that the "victim" had a BULL HORN and was USING IT to talk shit when the said incident occured. That is a pretty important factor in this. I have zero sympathy for the asshole. None.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Good God man,||
Step away from the bottle. RR looks good now based on the shit storm we're in and a couple signature wins he's had at Arizona. He wasn't fired because he wasn't a Michigan Man. He was fired because we were getting destroyed in Big Ten play.
This revisionist history is getting out of hand. It's easy to look back now and declare that we should have let it ride another year or two. But based on the facts at the time (particularly after the Miss State disaster where his players flat out quit on him), he had to go. He was owned by the rest of the Big Ten in his best years.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||Nope.||
Not gonna do it. But how about you going on a hunger strike until both Dave Brandon and/or Hoke are canned. That would get some serious media attention while showing that you still support the players.

The wit is strong with this one...
|18 weeks 6 days ago||You're quite the jester here after a win.||
But you're conspicuously absent for weeks following a loss. Funny how that works.
|34 weeks 2 days ago||Ha!||
Sure... A generic "Florida problem." Not at all related to leadership. (Is Muschamp really the type of man to clean up that culture - that's a serious question. I don't think so)
Urban Meyer wins a lot of games. That is his top priority. Priority #2, whatever that is, is way off in the distance.

I get in about 30-40 days on the mountain each year and I love me some powder, but I don't think I'll ever get a dedicated powder ski. All mountains come in a variety of widths, so pick something on the wider side with the front rocker set back a bit and you should have something that will do well in powder, but won't have you cursing the bumps.

makes me love college hoops and hate it at the same time. The very thought of what next year's team could accomplish had all three returned... yet a team like Wisconsin suffers no early attrition.

Violation of Team Rules falls under the jurisdiction of the coach. It's pretty black and white. The Winston case provides a better parallel.
|52 weeks 17 hours ago||Christ, man.||
Way to extapolate that to some crazy extreme to support a position that you can't support with practical points. You'd make a great politician.
|52 weeks 17 hours ago||You're crazy||
What time, resource, or expertise does Hoke have to conduct a fair and balanced investigation completely separate from law enforcement and the University's investigation. For cases like this - across the NCAA - there has always been one and only standard: the ruling of the legal system. When has any coach punished someone who local law enforcement decided to not even indict (when no "team rule" was clearly broken in the process)? This university investigation is completely new, and has introduced a new wrinkle into this precendent.
|52 weeks 18 hours ago||stop with the ifs and buts||
It's not helping the discussion. We don't know what would have happened had he been healthy. For all we know, the injury provided a convenient means to buy some time to let the process wrap up while not throwing a kid under the bus or violating the law in the interim.
|52 weeks 18 hours ago||Cmong, man||
First, we don't know if he lied. He may have actually been injured. But that's beside the point. Even if he did have full knowledge of the situation, I'd argue that it's Hoke's duty to protect Gibbons' reputation until such time as the University's findings are officially official. Period. Saying he "violated team rules" when he is simply under investigation by the University is also a lie, and would serve to indict Gibbons in the court of public opion.
As for your second point, I totally disagree. Keep in mind that, under the new guidelines, the University is required to investigate EVERYTHING, regardless of whether they have the cooperation of the victim. Unlike with criminal charges, there is no threshold for evidence to proceed. Any complaint, even by 3rd parties, will warrant an investigation. Hence, I feel that the accused should be afforded even more confidentiality than a criminal case until formal rulings are handed down. It's simply too easy for anyone with a grudge to open an investigation.
Under the circumstances, I don't have a huge beef with how Hoke handled this. He was in a no-win situation that is very easy to second-guess after the fact.
One thing is for sure... Pandora's box has officially been opened. Other schools will follow.

They did an incredible job improving from what was, literally, a running joke at the beginning of the season. They deserve a lot of credit for this.

This might be the most pathetic post I've read in a while, and that's saying something. Either you're a troll, or the functional equivalent.
If Peppers is NFL-caliber, he's going to the NFL regardless of whether he plays at Bama, UM, or Southwest Mississippi Methodist Community College. Last year's #1 pick in the draft came from Central Michigan. Correlation doesn't mean causation. Bama's track record of putting players in the NFL has more to do with the concentration of talent there than a material gap in coaching. And just as reminder, our defensive coordinator has a little bit of experience with success in the league. UM is a very good fit for Peppers.
And none of the factors you mentioned is any different now than it was when he committed. If Peppers was to de-commit for anything you mentioned, he WOULD deserve blame.
If you can truly see no value in choosing to attend UM over Bama or OSU, then you really need to cash in what chips you have left. You add no value here. Find another team.

|1 year 18 weeks ago||Haunted house||
Shame to see it go, if for no other reason than the fact that the morgue was ONLY used for the haunted house. In the early '90s, when I was in Army ROTC, I was accidentally locked in down there after working the haunted house all night.
Being locked in a haunted house, that is located in the basement of a 19th century building, that used to be a morgue, for about 45 minutes, all alone.... pretty freaky experience.
