That is kind of the word on…

That is kind of the word on the street that Jason Simpson will probably go where his son goes. He has done a pretty good job at UTM. They have no facilities and no money and have competed pretty well in the OVC.Of course nobody actually knows anything it is all just gossip now. The little town of Martin was jumping with excitement yesterday.

Not a lot of D1 in Martin…

Not a lot of D1 in Martin Tennessee. Everyone knows who recruiters are here to see. He also went to a basketball game and everyone saw him talking to Simpson and his dad.

I sat in Section 13 for the Indiana game a few years ago when it snowed. It was my thirteen year old son, my dad, and me. We traveled over 600 miles to be there, and some jackleg behind us kept asking us to sit down. We were more than a little excited to be there, and I turned around and let him know how far we had driven and reminded him of the fact that it was a close game. Heaven forbid that someone might really be into the game and not just sit on their ass and stare at their phone.

Excellent post, don't get to see the game broken down like this very often. TV angles generally suck for trying to figure out what happens. keep them coming

Immediately after the game I…

Immediately after the game I was like everyone else thinking with my emotions. I was embarrassed and sick and tired of being mediocre. Having slept on it I do realize that it is always better to lose one early than it is to lose one later in the year. That being said it puts a tremendous amount of pressure and makes the margin for error much smaller. I hope we will realize that Patterson needs to roll out more and throw on the run. This is because of his skill set and the skill set of our offensive line. Higdon looked good at times, and the receivers caught the ball consistently. We just couldn't put enough together to keep drives going. I hope things will get fixed and we will move upward from here. Go Blue

I got really hooked

on Sons of Anarchy. Saw the commercials for years and never watched it, then I got a recommendation from a guy I work with. Turns out was one of my favorite shows. Also thought Ozark was very good.

I am also pleased

with the start the Tigers have. It looks like they have just enough veterans to provide some leadership, and some of the young guys are playing well. I realize we haven't reaaly played any good teams but they are sure showing some fight. Several times they have tied or taken the lead after the 7th inning. It is going to still be a painful rebuild but nothing wrong with being encouraged so far, just stay realistic.

This is strange

I live ten minutes from where this kid plays. He got hurt last year and only played one or two games at QB. I guess Harbaugh has seen enough of him in 7 on 7. His Dad is pushing him really hard to a bunch of schools. Dad is a bit overbearing and completely disregards the coaches he currently plays for. Kid already had a huge ego, hate to see him after this. Maybe he will pan out someday.

I agree

that this was incredibly selfless. With what seems like the majority of players focusing on their own stats, it was very nice to see someone think of somebody other than themself. Great story

Awesome

to see these two in the Hall of Fame. As a young boy in Michigan I idolized Alan Trammell. I always thought he played the game the way it should be played. Morris was a great pitcher who dominated the 80's. I still hold out hope for Sweet Lou. Thought he has been screwed by the process. Tram should have been in way before this. If he had done backflips like Ozzie Smith he would already be in, his stats are as good as Ozzie's.

I had similar feelings

after this game. It hit me when I heard my son spitting out similar things that I had been saying. Not anything vulgar but just whining about officiating, playcalling, and such. Football is such an emotional game for me, i watch the games and somehow feel like I have a vested interest because I love it so much. I just want Michigan to be elite again, I want The Game to be what it should be, and these things cause me to lose  my head at times. I need to understand that there are people a lot smarter than me in control of this thing we love called Michigan football. GO BLUE forever and always.

I for one

am ashamed of some of my reactions during the OSU game upon learning more about John O'Korn. He is a class act and a fine young man. Plays on the football field are fleeting in the grand scheme of life. He has things in perspective which is very rare for someone his age. Good luck to this young man in whatever he chooses for his life.

Tennessee has positives

This job has positives, but it also has huge negatives. When they were at their best in the 90's Fulmer had free regin in recruiting the surrounding states. He could go into Georgia, Louisiana, etc. and get the best players. But then Miles was hired at LSU and Richt was hired at Georgia and essentially closed their borders. The problem is that the fanbase has not altered their perception of the program(sound familiar) as being elite. It is still a good job and a good program, just not sure if it can be relevant nationally on a consistent basis. Why does no one ever mention Venables from Clemson as a head coaching candidate?

perspective

I think deep down we all knew that we would finish this year with three or four losses. I suspect we all mistook what we wanted to see for what we were actually seeing. We have no choice but to ride this thing out to the end of the season and look ahead to next year. I know! I know! We are all tired of looking to next season, tired of losing to rivals, and basically tired of watching other teams win the Big Ten. I truly think next year can be awesome. We lost basically an entire football team last year, and next year we bring almost an entire team back. Winning is a process and I think we are on the right path. GO BLUE

Confession

I must admit with shame that I picked Louisville to win. There have been too many times that I have picked my bracket with Maize and blue glasses and it has bit me in the butt. I will no longer doubt this team. I could give a crap less about my bracket as long as Michigan keeps winning. I made the comment to my dad this weekend that there are two outcomes that could make me give up my bracket:

1. Michigan win

2. Kentucky loss

Almost got both wishes. GO BLUE!!!

up there with the best

Probably the best finish I have seen since the NC State/Houston game. Well played game by two very good teams. It was nice to see two teams with upperclassmen play in the biggest game. Congrats to Villanova. Can you imagine what it must feel like to hit the game winner in a NC game?

Bottom line

is they held the rally to help recruiting, not to get to the bottom of a serious problem. Just because their coaches are united does not mean there is not a problem. I live in Tennessee and hate every freaking thing about this program. The idiots do not realize that no one outside of the borders of Tennessee give two craps about their program. Sing Rocky Top all you want, this is not going away because you held a press conference. Now the only thing most people know about Tennessee is this, you play with fire you get burned.

camera angle

Worst freaking camera angle I have ever seen. I almost had to turn the game off because I could not watch it. The game sucked anyway but the camera angle made it suck even more. Who gives a damn about the speed of the game, we want to see the game.

We will never forget you Charles

One of the first guys I remember with swag. Usually had the type of game that matched his persona and confidence. Great big game player, some players disappear in the big game but not him. Outstanding NFL career, and we will definitely miss him.

yeah great man

everyone forgets that almost every program he worked at ended up on probation. Guess he perfected his craft at Notre Dame.

I just don't want

to see us turn into the SEC bull crap of oversigning. We have been railing against that for years. I'm not saying that is what this is, because obviously I haven't been in on any of the conversations. I will say it does not look good to the untrained eye. College coaches may be aware of what they are thinking and doing, but for the most part these kids and their parents are clueless. I want the best players possible, but there is still something to be said for your word. Again I'm not accusing anyone of any wrongdoing because I do not know the particulars. I just want us to do things the right way with integrity.

Bear in mind I was a child

Grease 2

I think

it will be incredibly tough for him to win the Heisman with Fournette, McAffery, and Watson all return and will get all the hype. He would have  to have a season like no one has ever seen before.

realistically

i din't give mich of a chance for us to win, but that;s why the games are played. Great win

Awesome

to see him come back to get his degree. Realized he screwed up and didn't wallow in self pity. Good luck and hope he does well.

I think

it is hard to put us that high without knowing who our QB is for sure. I personally would like to start off a little lower in the rankings, but it shows the respect Harbaugh has regained for us.

In the end

I think we all put too much stock in the overall rankings of recruiting classes. How many of those 4 stars end up being busts, and how many of the three stars end up being really good. I know this gives us all something to talk about right now, but I am much more concerned with the rankings at the end of the season than i am the recruiting rankings. All these rankings mean are that these guys are predicted to be good players, it doesn't mean much beyond that.

very insightful and thoughtful article.

Most of us never get to go through this process, so I've always been curious about how it all works. All visitis are not the same I am sure of that.

the problem is

that most parents don't do the research. They hear someone say the words concussion and football in the same sentence and they go berserk. I will never downplay the seriousness of the concussion issue, but i am also not going to believe every "expert" claiming he is the end/all on the topic.

A great defense

also takes away the pressure to score 30 every game to win. It seems that the spread offense is taking away teams ability to be physical on defense. Did anyone else think that there was very little defense played in several of the bowl games? I get tired of 42-39 scores in all of the games. Someone please get a stop.

I personally think that Hugh Freeze

is a complete slime ball. Ole Miss comes out of nowhere and all of the sudden start battling the SEC's best for recruits. That crap doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't happen without some BS going on. Ole Miss has very little tradition outside of Archie and Eli, so I just don't buy that he is not dirty.

I think

that more has to go right to complete an offensive play than a defensive play. Not to diminish that a defense has to play together as an unit, I just think sometimes it is harder for an offense to accomplish their goal. Good defense is as much a tough hard-nosed mentality as it is technique.

I think the SEC

is going to do just that. They have whined about these camps all year. Wonder what the bowl season would look like if the games were played in cold-weather environment. Would the SEC fare as well? I would like to see that one time in my life, where the SEC played in a bowl game in which it wasn't basically a home game.

He changed

his work so many times, became a very diverse performer. Will go down as one of the greats. Was also a really strange dude, but he will be missed.

With all the crap

the satellite camps drudged up, I would also be very surprised if the NCAA allows this as well. I think it is a great idea on many fronts, just hope it is allowed to happen. Harbaugh continues to be an innovative thinker.

I also think

we need as many receivers as we can get. We do not need to end up with a bare cupboard when Chesson and Darboh graduate. We are stocked up on QB's so we also need to be with WR's.

The only gut

i trust is that of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. I believe in cold, hard, facts and don't trust speculation.

I think

we all looked uo to Woodson in some way. He was a larger than life player who always seemed to make the big play. I am glad that he grew up and focused on the things he needed to; it paid off with a certain Hall of Fame induction.

I think

Dabo is a very good coach and an even better person. He has done a tremendous job at Clemson. It is an awesome gameday atmosphere. Has anyone ever seen their pregame walk out. It gives me chill bumps every time.

i will be

happy if any of these predictions come true. Reach for the stars boys, Harbaugh can take us there

isn't it interesting how this always seems to happen

Someone does somthing innovative that takes the league by storm, and then the defensive coordinators spend the offseason breaking down film....and it's gone. I love the cat and mouse aspect of football, don't think any other sport captures it like football.

I am tired

of everyone blowing the concussion thing out of proportion. Everything being done now, which is good, is in response to how poorly things were handled in the past. I don't know if it was handled poorly in the past on purpose, or because of a genuine lack of education on the subject. I feel for all of the older guys who develop CTE, I really do, but so much knowledge has been gained on the subject. I feel like there is a witch hunt going on against football and I am tired of it.

Texas

will never go to the Big 10. The Big 10 would not allo them to keep their perdsoanl TV network and that is a hell of a lot of money.

I agree completely

the college years, or college age years, are of the most influential in a person's life. It's when you really find out who you are and where you want to be. I think picking a college is among the most important decisions a person has to make. That being said I hope Nauta picks Michigan.

I will be very surprised

if he goes anywhere but georgia. Hopeful, but does not seem realistic to expect he will sign with us.

I absolutely hate

preseason polls. While i understand the purpose of them, I do not like them. Just like I hate the first couple of playoff polls that are released I think they are released too early, there is still too much football to be played. Think of how much anticipation there would be if the only playoff poll released is the final one. Just gives talking heads something to do in my opinion.
