|1 day 9 hours ago||so||
So there i was, running for my life. The setting: jungle. The weather: tropical. The folks behind me: young, angry, and carrying spears. But I was determined: there was a football game to be watched, goddammit, and I was going to watch it.
I cut through the remainder of the trees and soon was out in the clearing, leaving my trusted burros behind. I ran up and over the hill and soon saw my salvation in the clearing: a two seater prop with my lazy pilot out fishing. "Jock, start the engine!" I cried. "Get 'er up!" He finally got moving, and soon the bird was humming: I just had to get onboard.
Soon the arrows were flying, coming from all directions. I must say, still to this day I don't know how they all missed. I approached the river, taking (cliche, sure) a rope swing from the bank into to the midst of the current; it reminded me of my youth spent at the lake, although the stakes were a little higher this time. The plane was finally moving, ramping up for takeoff from the water, and all I had to do was climb on, all while the arrows and (you won't believe this) poisoned darts from a blowgun flew past me. I'm still here because they all didn't find their mark.
Soon we were up in the air, and I could relax. Well, except for the snake in the backseat. You know how I hate snakes!
We got back just in time for the game: the season opener of the 1981 season against Wisconsin. We were #1, and no way could we lose to those pesky Badgers. We lost, 21-14. Oh well, it just goes to show: no matter how much fans put into it, sometimes the old ball team still loses the game.
See this old clip for some highlights from my adventure: here.

is really boring.
maybe we can have a special board for fiduciary matters as well, or advice on filing tax returns in the tri-state area.

hasn't Weis taken enough from ND? Now he wants his kid to get an education there? Yikes, I would never show my face on that campus if my last name was Weis.

more seriously, great job!

you go with "game manager" if you have the better team, and in most games this year, UM will. Thus, go with the lower variance guy. Might cost you in the biggest game (OSU) but in the rest it will seem like a great decision.

because he is probably not a drug cheat (US program, esp. in swimming, is really good at monitoring its atheletes these days).
while no evidence against Bolt, if you look at the ridiculous success of Jamaica, and some interesting physical traits (e.g., notice the ever-increasing gap in Bolt's teeth? a sign of testerone usage and the head growth it entails), I think drug cheating is likely.

great (and long) writeup, as always. don't know how you do it!
that said, I've never understood your love/hate with Harbaugh. To me, it always seemed like he was more authentic than 99% of the others out there - what more can you ask for?

well, this was before Albums, but, on one night, Beethoven premiered:
The Fifth Symphony
The Sixth Symphony
The Fourth Piano Concerto (played by Beethoven himself)
And even threw in a solo piano improvisation to boot.
Honestly, that dwarfs pretty much all of musical history in terms of one amazing release.

"If I Don't Six" by Elwood Reid.
Just a great read about football, adjusting to college, and even a bit of philosophy.

calling someone something feminine (e.g., "little girl") as a pejorative is stupid, plain and simple.

the wolverines band together to fight off the Reds. Come on people!
ok, so it's not too great.
I think a different question worth answering is: which movie would you be willing to watch many times? For me, it's The Fugitive.

what is better than a story of Wolverines who band together to fight off the Reds?
If not that, then: "Saving Ryan's Privates" ... or something like that.

this is an obvious move.
they are hoping they can fire someone who is easy to replace (university president) with someone they view as very hard to replace (football coach). smart move - but will it work?
people says "heads will roll" but what if the right head doesn't?
