3 weeks 2 days ago	Building	It can't really be denied that later in the Carr years things had trailed off as far as recruiting hits, and overall domination on the field.  After Carr there was need to rebuild a foundation that had started to crumble.  Most notibly it was necessary to start to dominate again.  We could see teams like Alabama, USC, OSU, and other big programs put together 10-12 wins for multiple years in a row and we were stuck below that.  Michigan was not in the top tier and we needed to get there.  We went out and hired Rodriguez who was a big name and had turned WVU into a very good team.  He was the flashy coach that we could pin our hopes on so that we could reach the next level and dominate college football.  Unfortunately it did not work out and after the end of the Carr years the ship started sinking faster.  We missed a bowl game, lost a bunch of games, lost recruiting battles.  Rodriguez was fired.   Where was the hope?  We made an attempt to get to where we wanted to be and things blew up in our faces.  We were not winning games.  We were not recruiting as well as we should have been.  Factions within the fanbase became very evident and very ugly.  There was little to pin hope on.   One of the greatest things about sports is the comeback.  We are reminded every year of the possibility of a resurgence whether it is a game (2004 MSU) or a season.  There are reminders every year that there is always room for hope.  It makes Cleveland Browns fans still fill up the stadium.  This is where we are right now.  We are in the midst of the comeback.  The beginning is where we start to see success.  We find a coach that can unite the factions. It gives us hope.  We find a coach that wins 11 games in his first season.  It puts us on the edge of our seats.   We say that something special is being built because there is that hope that we will come back and be on top of college football once again.  Sure it is possible that we could flame out, but we like to lean on hope and not dispair.  That's not exciting to think about.  Fans like hope.  Hoke seems like the perfect person for the job.  He has the rare combination of coaching ability, persona, and a genuine love for everything Michigan.  Why wouldn't we hope for something special to happen?

6 weeks 6 days ago	Jobs	I graduated in civil, and was not very active in school, so i can't speak to how much following an organization or trade group will help in that respect. However i am getting more interested now because of the amount of technical resources and educational opportunities that they offer. Finding a job through a group may be a possibility, but ultimately you should be looking for groups or organizations that will make you better at what you do, and the rest should follow suit. I would guess that an engineer who is excited about engineering will fare better than an engineer whom simply wants a job.

16 weeks 3 days ago	Football	I decommitted from Michigan Tech when I was offered a spot at Michigan. It may have been a legacy offer, but who really cares. I came to watch home games. The education was a bonus.
16 weeks 4 days ago	Porcupine Mts.	I went backpacking there with my brother.  The last day we were there we camped right at the end.  I woke up in the morning and went to the overlook area and the lake had completely clouded over leaving only the morning sun reflecting off of the fog.

16 weeks 4 days ago	Oh plans	TODAY IS MY LAST DAY AT THIS JOB!!!!!!!  I am packing my apartment because we are moving from Cleveland to Milwaukee.  I've been looking for a new job on and off for a couple of years, but finally dug in and got it done. From Michigan....followed wife to Ohio....leaving for a job in Wisconsin.   From a fan perspective it may seem like a easy move (out of Ohio), but Cleveland surprised us and we will really miss being here.   I know nothing about Milwaukee.

16 weeks 6 days ago	Your problem	If you wanted to post an intellectual rebuttal to how the article ended then don't say "Urban's second year crap."  That tells me that you are upset that an Ohio blog is posting pro-Ohio material.  You could have elaborated what you would have preferred the author to say rather than saying crap.  Don't be surprised if people misinterpret what you said.
16 weeks 6 days ago	Except	Urban's second year seems pretty relevent.  The author is comparing third year Michigan coaches and finding some unwelcome trends from his perspective.  I would expect an OSU site to include their defense against this trend with a similar trend that works in their favor.

I agree with and wholeheartedly support your hatred for state, but they have won things.  Izzo has been to the final four on multiple occasions in my memory.  They have won a title and made it back to the title game.  It is us that hasn't won anything except the share of the Big Ten last year.

I actually like Vitale.  He seems like a guy who genuinely loves basketball and that is all he cares about.  He gets excited about storylines, big plays, and doesn't appear to have any school biases.  Analysts who try to sound smart are a dime a dozen and often are reciting typical talking points with mainstream biases.  Vitale is different in that all he cares about is having fun.  I completely understand why some people don't like him or find him annoying, but you can count me as one of the few who enjoy it when he calls games. Every announcer sucks when Michigan is losing though.
18 weeks 6 days ago	Jordan Morgan	I was thinking to myself the whole game that we were missing Morgan's defense.  I think it has become pretty clear in the last two games that he really is that glue guy.  There were too many breakdowns in the post.
19 weeks 5 days ago	Perhaps	Perhaps more weight needs to be placed on the system that Beilein runs.  If he is known for getting more out of less, then isn't it reasonable to expect that the dropoff won't be as great with a downgrade in talent?  Basketball is a superstar dominated sport, but coaching a system cannot be overlooked.   We may have Dumars chemistry, but having a system coach makes me feel better about not losing it.
