I don't care any more, even if he goes Buckeye, as long as he doesn't become the next Barry Sanders.
But seriously, isn't amazing the impact Borges is having on the program even 8 months from his departure? If his head has not been up his ass and had the offense performed well last year, he still has a job and guys like Harris are still Blue.
This is an absolutely crucial year for this program. If Hoke tanks this year then we stare at another 4-5 years of horrid transition.

You're very wrong. It's no different than any other activity where most people can appreciate it to some degree because they've tried. Even most girls at a b ball or football game have thrown the ball around or shot some hoop. The fans are mainly comprised of the tens of thousands of other players who can appreciate the play they see at a high level, and learn from the best.

Meet the future. Ever since I played Everquest in '99 I knew I'd be looking at the future of competition. Our "real" sports won't be going away soon, but the fact that these online games are far more accessible to the world (no need to leave the house to play), and that they just keep getting so much better leaves little doubt this is where the future lies.
I remember the line in The Matrix where Joey Pants said something like "If it's between this hell-hole you call reality, and the Matrix, I'll choose the Matrix." Foreboding. There are already thousands of people, especially in South Korea and China who spend the better part of their lives plugged into games like DOTA and World of Warcraft, and as life just gets harder and harder, and as virtual experiences get better and better, I can't help but think this artificial life will be the fate of many future generations.
But honestly, if you have kids, do everything in your power to keep them away from massive multi-player online games. They are insanely addicitive and engrossing, and in many cases, more satisfying than reality because they are more black and white with winning/losing as opposed to the greyness that is our day-to-day reality. If they'd been around when I was in middle-school and/or high school, I highly doubt I'd have this Michigan degree.

Given how we've performed vs Ohio the last decade I'd say go for it. But wearing it back in the 90's when we owned them was a bit more dangerous.

We call those guys at the gym "EDUBS".
"Hey look EDUBS is here!"
Reserved only for those guys with clownishly small calves relative to their massive arms. I wouldn't characterize Caris as quite EDUBS just yet as I still see a decent arm/calf ratio.

2014? Every new human brought into this world has a brain comprised entirely of moldable ignorance and nothing else. Doubt that will change any time soon. Toss in need, limited resources and egocentrism and our species is a collective mess with no end in sight.
Hopefully a thousand years from now, if man makes it that far without either destroying the planet or itself, people will look back at just how pathetically primitive man was around the 21st century in mitigating the fallacies of human nature. All of these nuclear weapons and incredible scientific and technological breakthroughs, but not the first concept about how to grapple with the egocentrism and ignorance behind all evil and ruin.
Eff Penn State, eff Ohio and then eff humans in that order.

I sized the two up next to each other and went with Borges as the worst simply because Gerg had more outs.
1. RichRod was forcing the Gerginator to run a scheme he wasn't comfortable with.
2. RichRod's quickfire offense lends itself to unbalanced field time for his defenses.
3. Gerg was saddled with Obi Eze, and the Michigan's DB equivalent of IowaRBHatingGod.
4. Gerg had one less year to form the D as his own.
5. Borges' offense in his third year achieved historic lows despite occasional sparks of life vs ND and Ohio. At least RR and Gerg were trendign positive in year 3.
Worst ever - Borges
2nd worst ever - Gergs
Bronze medal - Ron English - On whom I put over 50% of the blame (Carr the other 50%) leaading to the current 6 years dip in Michigan football. English single-handedly made Armanti Edwards and Dennis Dixon look like all-world spread gods, assuredly impacting AD Martin into having RIchRod be his choice once the first/second options fell through.
We're still recovering. But as bad as it's been, at least we've never hired the sleazebags and cheaters Columbus hires.

I'll never eat Papa John's again. It's home to the most narcissistic, self-loving douche CEO of all time, who puts his cosmetically knifed face front and square in all ad campaigns and goes out of his way to show himself throwing touchdowns and performing other athletic feats. Easily in my top 5 most annoying people in the United States.

Brazil this World Cup reminds me of us at the end of Carr. The two most storied programs in their respective sports kicked in the gut and told the old way and entitlement doesn't get it done any more. Brazil has a long climb ahead.

You have to be kidding yourself to think Lebron's occasional presence on the sidelines and in locker rooms with recruits won't have a big impact... The problem is Urbz is recruiting so well right now it'll be hard to discern the impact regardless.

You do realize this doesn't help Michigan right? Lebron is a Buckeye fan and returning to Ohio means it's more likely the close proximity may facilitate his impact on their MBB and even football recruiting... Not cool.

Ever think perhaps Brandon's philosophy is focused more on helping Hoke recruit than making you happy? Gameday spectacles and Beyonce probably impress 16 year old recruits more than the MMB. And if said recruits come to Michigan, perhaps Michigan starts winning again, and if Michigan starts winning again and becomes a regular Top 6 team again, everyone will be happy, even you though you'd hate to admit it.
The rest of college football, especially down South, has seen a massive explosion in commercialization over the last 15 years, and you blame Brandon for maneuvers to try and keep up with the Joneses because how dare he try to change with the times? You're probably that old guy driving his banged up Ford Edsel shaking his fist at those Fusion and Prius drivers.
|1 week 5 days ago||Yep I lived the "yesman"||
Yep I lived the "yesman" experience first hand. Crushed a colleague in sales for years, but where I'd challenge my managers and at times be sent to the real life equivalent of corporate Bolivia, my yesman colleague got the promotion that should have been mine for out performing him for years. Corporate Bolivia and MGoBlog Bolivia... man guess it's time I look in the mirror.
As to Brandon, the one dynamic few seem to address here is the possibility that in Brandon's mind, winning is by far the most important way to "appease the fanbase" and to that effect, his focus has been more on doing things around the game time experience that would enchant recruits more than Michigan fans.
Johnny Bacon talked about how Michigan fans go to games to get away from Beyonce and commercialization and to hear the band and take a load off, but can the same be said of the recruits that are being courted on the sidelines? I'd guess a 16 year old recruit would be a little more impressed by Beyonce than by the band, and most definitely would be more impressed by winning.
Personally, I'm a band and hotdogs guy and Beyonce gives me a great deal of gas and occasionally hives, but the lack of recruit-centric consideration associated with Brandon's actions appears vacant to me.

The 7, and near 4 wins (could have easily lost to Akron, NW, UCONN) were mostly due to the worst O line in the history of MIchigan football by two magnitudes. I mean, if the second worst ever was a 4 on the 10 scale, this was a 1.4.
When a unit is that horrible, there is a very large probability of vast improvement simply based on just how historically bad the unit Hoke presented last year was.
If this year's O line is even just one magnitude better than last year's Hoke's a goner. If it comes back to just average as is minimally expected, no chance this is a 7 win season. More likely 9, with 8 really the unlikely floor.

Narduzzi may only be available after this year and could potentially be the best coaching candidate Michigan has access to in years. He's just been that important for MSU. We'll see how it goes this year but if MSU crushes again this year and UM falters, he'd be a near no-brainer to pursue.
Would be very Bo/Woodyish too to pluck him from a close rival.
