Logos- don't let graphics guys make all your marketing decisions

Graphics folks are great at what they do but go for graphics, not usefulness. Think about how you are going to use the graphics, not just how cool they look. You will usually need 2 or maybe 3 designs that communicate the same thought. Advertising lends itself to rectangular images, business cards work well with a round logo"stamp", etc. How about tee-shirts? A simple 1-color representation makes them a cheaper proposition than 4-color process. And I personally suggest you avoid too much fine-line detail, which makes it harder to view in smaller formats. So in summary, make sure your marketing plan drives your logo creation (not vice-versa).

Thoughts & prayers...

I am also not a tweeter, but your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Why all the hate on Costas?

Love Tirico, he will be great. But why all the vitriol for Costas? He replaced a legend in McKay for olympic coverage and stood the test of time. I get that he plays up the emotion of events (particularly covering his passion, baseball), but provides good analysis of a broad range of sports. Even if he isn't your favorite sportscaster, I don't get the level of hate he is receiving here.

Who's got it better?

My 7 year old and I have adopted this saying- it's a great reminder to have "an attitude of gratitude".

It is very memorable and personal to people. My son and I ran into a group of player's dads who were having a fun night on the town here in Cleveland last fall. No hesitation when I asked this question- a bellowing "Nooooooo-body" from the whole group. One of the guys played at (? CMU) for Jack, and he remembered this saying from his college days.

Happy holidays & Go Blue!

27-16 Meeechigan

Out of towners don't mind the late starts. These noon games make me leave home at 6:30, but I still wouldn't rather spend the day any other way.

Hoke will be treated well, and Mo was NOT "begrudgingly" canned

We treated Moeller like crap based on one incident despite a pretty darned good record. Replacing a legend and unreasonable expectations cannot be easy. And FWIW, the legend was furious about the way Michigan tossed Mo aside. Thank goodness he has been so gracious and that enough time hes passed that we can treat him with well-deserved respect.

Hoke was a good soldier, always supporting Michigan and saying the right thing even in the face of disappointing results and being fired.

I am hoping this is another example

of sarcasm that isn't communicated well in witing. Otherwise you are being an ass. Al wasn't the solution today, but he wasn't all the problems either.

Don't throw baby out with that bathwater...

Borges was certainly disappointing in his insistance on manball (which has not worked all year), but 4 turnovers?? When did we become Nebraska on the road? Can't blame that on him. There is plenty of accountability to be spread around, so let's not heap it all on Al. Time to regroup, prepare and gameplan for a bowl game. Win that for the Seniors.

Error 502- bad gateway when I tried the link

I assume just a glitch on their end & I'll have to retry...  Go Blue!

THANKS for online Punt- Counterpunt

I grew up reading punt-counterpunt in my coveted newspaper program while waiting for the game to start & was soooo glad to see this recurring column come back to life online. Every year I know I can find a compelling reason why this year's win would be important. Living in Cleveland I can't bear 9 months of undefeated bragging. The cheaters don't deserve the credit for an undefeated year without the pressure of actually chasing a title. Hoping and praying for a 27-24 win while thinking of brunettes!

27- 19 Meeeeechigan beats Urban's Liars

Though I give credit to the reader who was brave enough to pick OSU. This won't be an easy one, but my heart couldn't bear to predict that the philistines will win.

Historical gametime was not noon, it was 1pm

Almost all games were 1pm kickoff when I waqs a kid, with the exceptions being noon for tOSU so that they could do a doubleheader with USC/UCLA as a "late" game, and bowl games. I drive from Cleveland for 3-4 games a year- noon games make it hell early to leave and 3:30 keeps me away until late night. Either way it's an all-day committment... and well worth it- GO BLUE!

Meeechigan 23 - Lil' Bro 9

Sparty yields 259 rushing yards

Meeeechigan 45, Illini 16

Illini coach reminds me of ancient words of wisdom: "Never slap a man who chews tobacco".

The You Suck chant... sucks.

This isn't some bawdy by creative long-lived tradition like the fans in Yost provide (even though to many that is debatable/controversial). The addition of you suck to a song of such long tradition cheapens it and us. It is not reflective of the greatness of UM, the Big Ten, or college football. It so lacks class that it would be much more at home as a tradition of the Philistines in Columbus. And while you are at the task of classing things up, stop any chants of "overrated" (a clever choice just before the Kordell Stewart hail Mary pass, ye of the student section!), and fergodssakes stop booing opposing team's bands!

RIP, Golden Flash

So sorry for your loss. As a Kent State alum & lifelong wolverine I wish your family well.

Troy was a cheater

It still irks me that he was able to get away with $100 handshakes. I think the Downtown Athletic Club should stipulate that those in violation of NCAA rules are disqualified from Heisman consideration.

KSU & Stricklin

Stricklin is an excellent coach and recruiter. I'm totally torn as a KSU alum and lifelong wolverine. I'd hate to lose him from my alma mater, but if I have to I'd rather it be to Michigan than to anyone else. In the meantime, on to the CWS- Go Flashes!!

Pharaoh Brown

Actually, I think this is excellent news of Brown being initially slotted for TE. Having the benefit of being ablr to track him since his HS is right up the street from me, I think this might take better advantage of his athleticism than DE. He has decent hands which are better used catching the ball rathering than punching (the technique, not the Sparty way of doing things), swimming and tackling. And as is pointed out in the article, this is just preliminary- if he contributes better elsewhere, he'll surely be moved there.
