Those were just shit calls though.
Steelers are the favored son of the NFL.
Gonna be interesting how that goes since Rooney passed.
|9 hours 25 min ago||Heh.||
I'm sure GrowOld was, like any other sensible Browns fan, getting drunk and celebrating after the Peppers pick.
I know I was.

Nice to see the Three Star Mafia (tm) back in full effect.
I realize that it requires a level of trust but I am willing to give Jim Harbaugh, Tim Drevno, Don Brown, Pep Hamilton etc. my trust that they know what they are doing on talent evaluation. I am doing this as both a donor and season ticket holder so if they are wrong I have something invested in their error. Nonetheless, I am willing to take that risk.
I realize that in taking this approach I am vulnerable to having to reconcile the talent evaluation of varied recruiting services not being in-line with the staff. I also acknowledge that it is possible that a kid might not want to come to Michigan for whatever reason and that's not on the coaches etc. I am still deferring to the coaches here.
I think these things are part of the bargain we make as Michigan fans (or any school, really).
FWIW, I follow recruiting but it's a winding road and I'd wait until next January before worry posts become necessary. Steel in the spine, fella.
As to McDoom, he looked rather wonderful last year from my seats...

It's not like they turned the switch.
Michigan's defense wrecked that team and the offense was solid that day.
It was glorious.

That feels like some Wings fan negativity there. I'd be reticent, based on track record, to vote against Lou Lamoriello figuring out talent over time. That he's got Mark Hunter running shotgun with him leads me to believe they will figure out defense. That said, it's probably only a five or six year window so the clock is ticking.

I don't know if Michigan wants this Saban like coach...

It's Michigan and an elite job, really. Michigan has more or less unlimited money in the scheme of college athletics.
Fire the Money Cannon at will.

Check out some MGo threads on the back end of the Babcock era. Same talent concerns in many ways as this year since 2014 (Holland hasn't exactly been stellar for a while with his signings) and yet he "squeaked" them into the playoffs. People here were happy to see Babcock go and mocked him/celebrated when he went to the Leafs. There seemed a genuine appreciation that under Blashill the young talent would thrive. That lottery team tht Babcock took over certainly wasn't supposed to be in the playoffs this year and maybe not next year. Pre-season projections put the Wings in the playoffs. I find it amusing you don't see Babcock as an elite level coach but I also find it amusing he was more or less run out of town.
Maybe Blashill proves me wrong. Maybe his system works. I doubt it, but maybe.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Blashill...||
He is just not an elite level coach and far from what Wings fans had become used to between Bowman/Babcock eras. It's funny though, much like the backup quarterback in most places, how Blashill was beloved by the Wings' fanbase when he was in GR. Beloved until he actually started coaching, of course.
There are far better candidates available for Michigan.

I'm sure it was difficult for him to walk away particularly after the last few years.
He'll be remembered as a legend at Michigan and beyond.

|5 weeks 2 days ago||I find this an interesting take||
When Blashill was in GR and Babcock in Detroit prevailing board wisdom was Babcock underachieved and Blashill would be an improvement.
In fact, many on the board celebrated Babcock signing with the Leafs mocking him in that move and celebrating Blashill's promotion.
Things sure have changed....

The idea that Miles Bridges might return to MSU is ludicrous. Kid can play at the next level.

They lose six regardless. No offensive line does that.
That said, if these allegations are true, the need for justice far supercedes any on field implications.

One wonders what her long term legal explosure will be, however.
Regardless of "retiring" she doesn't remove her role or responsibility.
