The problem is the lens that…

The problem is the lens that people are looking at Harbaugh through. It’s really simple: he doesn’t think he did what they accused him of and so he’s not going to admit to it just to make it go away. Some people are that rigid on truth, yes.

Listening to the Cover 3…

Listening to the Cover 3 Podcast and Bud Elliott sounds pretty convinced that the way he's building his team is for the short term.

What that is, right there, is an antiquated way of building a team. Sanders has been very clear about what his approach is, and it's just different. It definitely makes sense why folks who believe in the traditional approach would call it "short term" but they are missing what is actually happening (and where recruiting is going).

You can't make that list…

You can't make that list calling things "lucky" without then saying that USC was "lucky" to win in Boulder.  Not that USC was great, mind you, but Colorado should have won that game.

Deion is old school like Jim…

Deion is old school like Jim was.

In more ways than one. In particular, the cacophony saying that Harbaugh was a gimmick and that it wouldn't resonate with today's players. How did that work out?

Yep, this.  He absolutely…

Yep, this.  He absolutely wasn't wrong about his "take your shots now" and time will show that to be true. The multitudes in here laughing and saying what he does is a gimmick and that what he's doing doesn't work quite frankly don't know what they are talking about. When it does work there is going to be a lot of crow to eat.  And it'll be fun to watch!

That’s correct. Only comes…

That’s correct. Only comes into play if Philadelphia wins in regulation.

If Washington wins,…

If Washington wins, unfortunately nothing else matters for anyone. The silver lining is that Philadelphia has to win in regulation or they’re done. If Washington gets one point, Philadelphia is eliminated and then it’ll come down to what the Wings and Penguins do. If Washington gets no points, Washington is eliminated and then it’ll come down to what the Wings and Penguins do.

Pittsburgh would win that…

Pittsburgh would with 32 regulation wins. They would also in four-way tie at 89 points.

He's a better prospect than…

He's a better prospect than those stats suggest and I would bank that Naurato knows best on this one. Stein was a member of the 2021 US WJC team that won gold  (this was the team with York, Beniers, and Brisson). He didn't play in the tournament, but being on that team means something. Most likely a bridge goalie for the prospects coming in, but someone who will be able to make an impact.

Yes indeed!

Yes indeed!

I wasn’t. I was simply…

I wasn’t. I was simply pointing out a factual inconsistency. I guarantee you the person I was responding to had no idea that SLC is in a desert. Because… pretty much no one does.

No, and not sound alarmist,…

No, and not to sound alarmist, because I sure recognize it sounds that way, it will be. More financially, than anything (which I think we are saying the same thing about). Vegas is going to have the same problem. It’s not just that it’s a desert, but a function of how western water rights work. Which then raises the “to where” question. I do think you’re right about being cost prohibitive, but that’s ultimately the point. That WILL be a financial catastrophe when the moment finally comes and everyone needs to get out.

I recognize the /s there,…

I recognize the /s there, but this (ie water) truly is going to be a catastrophe for people living in that area. Quite literally, they are going to be screwed.

”The Coyotes AHL affiliate…

The Coyotes AHL affiliate was also nicknamed the Roadrunners.  That fun Coyotes/Roadrunners link will likely go away.”

The Roadrunners came first, so I don’t know that I would come to that conclusion.

“Much more sense than having…

Much more sense than having an NHL team in a desert.”

Hate to break it to you that Salt Lake City too is located in a desert.

It wasn’t what he knew, but…

It wasn’t what he knew, but rather what he did. Can’t have that, no matter how BS the investigation is/was.

I thought it was pretty…

I thought it was pretty clear that this was a COVID-related ADA accommodation?

Yeah, there’s zero mystery…

Yeah, there’s zero mystery there with respect to Michigan. It IS interesting that he never got a look anywhere else, through.

Sorry… to clarify: the part…

Sorry… to clarify: the part I was specifically wondering about was the backing into spots annoyance. That seemed to be the particular ire raising aspect and I have literally no idea why (beyond what you said about taking up sidewalk).

Ha! As someone who lives in…

Ha! As someone who lives in a spring break destination (and whose roads are finally back to being blissfully normal) this made me laugh out loud!

Indeed. This. And what…

Indeed. This. And what chocks my guff is the people who think it’s their job to force the merge a mile before the merge point (without realizing that they, themselves, are just backing traffic up further).

It’s less safe to ride a…

It’s less safe to ride a bike on the sidewalk.

people driving massive…

people driving massive pickup trucks (that's bad enough on its face) that back into spaces, though?  nope nope nope.

I would actually love to know the reason why on this one. Fascinating!

In fairness, I don’t think…

In fairness, I don’t think Ohio State is THAT well regarded for its fruit agriculture program, so I’m not sure I can reach that conclusion.

The Wings own the tie…

The Wings own the tie breaker with the Islanders but have split so far with the Pens, Caps and Sabers.

That doesn’t come into play until the fourth tiebreaker. When it comes to the first tiebreaker the Wings are (currently) in the weakest spot of all of the teams in the mix, unfortunately - only 28 “RW” wins. If it gets to the second tiebreaker (“ROW”), they are in the best spot of all of those teams, though.

More importantly there are…

More importantly there are three games with teams they are competing with for that last spot (Buffalo, Washington, and Pittsburgh). Those are absolute must win games because of the four point swing in each of those - and perhaps as importantly, really need to be regulation wins.

It’s really six teams, as…

It’s really six teams, as Buffalo has an outside chance still (albeit it slim). Wings still have the best chance because even though they lost they simply lost the game in hand (and to the best team remaining on their schedule). That said, the four Metropolitan teams legitimately have the best chance, as those four are playing for two paths (division 3 seed or wild card), whereas the Wings have just one path (wild card).

This. Absolutely nothing…

This. Absolutely nothing like the every day room experience on a hockey team. The room experience in other sport remotely compares, either. I’ve tried hard to explain this to my wife, as to why that is, but really never can get it quite right.

This view ignores the fact…

This view ignores the fact that the S&C coach runs the team, and is the day to day face to the players, for more than half of the calendar year.

Like his credits from Yale…

Like his credits from Yale will transfer. Right…

The problem is when non…

The problem is when non-revenue men's sports have to get cut in order to make up the scholarship numbers.

They don’t have to do that. They choose to address it that way.

and (2) where the top two…

and (2) where the top two teams are SUING to bolt out

Wrong sport…

Why?

Why?

Pressing charges (or not)…

Pressing charges (or not) isn’t up to Ohtani.

the criticism is clearly…

the criticism is clearly reaching his ears and he's not happy about it.

I am confident it’s exactly the opposite: he doesn’t care what you or I or anyone else outside of the university thinks. If you want some excellent insight into Warde I highly recommend Greg Harden’s book.

What? Harbaugh gives genuine…

What? Harbaugh gives genuine, authentic straight answers. There are some fairly obvious reasons why a lot of people don’t get what he means, and that’s ok - everyone has their own understanding journey. But to imply that Harbaugh doesn’t give straight answers is outlandish.

Imagine the mood over there…

Imagine the mood over there if we bounce Texas and they lose to Oregon.

And them losing to Oregon is entirely likely given Oregon’s toughness and OSU’s well… lack thereof. And it’s in Eugene. Dan Lanning will have that team READY for that game.

Hey now… that’s only about…

Hey now… that’s only about half the capacity of an actual honest to goodness NHL arena…

Not a single bracket on ESPN…

Not a single bracket on ESPN’s platform made it out of the first round perfect.

I’m going to share something…

I’m going to share something familiar. My wife has never done a bracket before and doesn’t know a thing about college basketball. I have done a bracket every year for 30+ years and know a decent amount. You don’t need me to tell you how we differ in the bracket standings. For all of the great research that exists out there, why has no one figured out why this happens over and over and over again?

They gave a stat on him in…

They gave a stat on him in the postgame that he took 355 shots this season and only EIGHT of those were from two!

Brian: Anyone who's an…
  • Brian: Anyone who's an administrator at a college is expendable; teachers are not.

It depends on what your goals for the institution are, but if you want things beyond the classroom walls (not just sports, to be very clear) then this is the type of belief that results in a lot of the current complaints being made about Warde. And honestly most all colleges don’t focus nearly enough on teaching (as opposed to “researcher first and, oh, maybe they can teach?”).

I'm honestly shocked at how…

I'm honestly shocked at how little non-fiction there is in this thread. To be clear, there is zero judgment of that; just surprised.

Yes, correct, but it's the…

Yes, correct, but it's the one thing that hasn't changed. For as much as people think Urban ran a run and gun system on offense they completely miss the fact that Urban ran a run-first system based on... toughness.

Here’s something that I wish…

Here’s something that I wish more people knew: the degree of annoyance and difficulty of the procedure is ALL about the doctor’s preferences for the prep and you have a choice to do it the way that doctor wants to, or find another doctor who doesn’t do it that way. I’ve had three or four now and only the first was anything more than a minor annoyance. Why? Because that first doctor insisted on the “jug of fun” prep while all the others didn’t. Downed the two little bottles of prep, consumed just clear liquids, done.

Just like the coaches that…

Just like there are zero consequences for the coaches that recruit them when they leave.

The huge problem for ESPN…

The huge problem for ESPN and the ACC on this is that FSU is a Florida public institution. And Florida public institutions have very specific obligations when it comes to what’s known as “sunshine law”. Prediction: this by argument by ESPN/ACC will actually end up being the undoing of the whole GoR, as it aplies to FSU, and ESPN/ACC were baited into it by FSU.

I don’t think that would…

I don’t think that would circumvent Sunshine, as Sunshine doesn’t only pertain to documents. Sunshine is waaaaaaaay more expansive than FOIA.
