the criticism is clearly…

the criticism is clearly reaching his ears and he's not happy about it.

I am confident it’s exactly the opposite: he doesn’t care what you or I or anyone else outside of the university thinks. If you want some excellent insight into Warde I highly recommend Greg Harden’s book.

What? Harbaugh gives genuine…

What? Harbaugh gives genuine, authentic straight answers. There are some fairly obvious reasons why a lot of people don’t get what he means, and that’s ok - everyone has their own understanding journey. But to imply that Harbaugh doesn’t give straight answers is outlandish.

Imagine the mood over there…

Imagine the mood over there if we bounce Texas and they lose to Oregon.

And them losing to Oregon is entirely likely given Oregon’s toughness and OSU’s well… lack thereof. And it’s in Eugene. Dan Lanning will have that team READY for that game.

Hey now… that’s only about…

Hey now… that’s only about half the capacity of an actual honest to goodness NHL arena…

Not a single bracket on ESPN…

Not a single bracket on ESPN’s platform made it out of the first round perfect.

I’m going to share something…

I’m going to share something familiar. My wife has never done a bracket before and doesn’t know a thing about college basketball. I have done a bracket every year for 30+ years and know a decent amount. You don’t need me to tell you how we differ in the bracket standings. For all of the great research that exists out there, why has no one figured out why this happens over and over and over again?

They gave a stat on him in…

They gave a stat on him in the postgame that he took 355 shots this season and only EIGHT of those were from two!

  • Brian: Anyone who's an administrator at a college is expendable; teachers are not.

It depends on what your goals for the institution are, but if you want things beyond the classroom walls (not just sports, to be very clear) then this is the type of belief that results in a lot of the current complaints being made about Warde. And honestly most all colleges don’t focus nearly enough on teaching (as opposed to “researcher first and, oh, maybe they can teach?”).

I'm honestly shocked at how…

I'm honestly shocked at how little non-fiction there is in this thread. To be clear, there is zero judgment of that; just surprised.

Yes, correct, but it's the…

Yes, correct, but it's the one thing that hasn't changed. For as much as people think Urban ran a run and gun system on offense they completely miss the fact that Urban ran a run-first system based on... toughness.

Here’s something that I wish…

Here’s something that I wish more people knew: the degree of annoyance and difficulty of the procedure is ALL about the doctor’s preferences for the prep and you have a choice to do it the way that doctor wants to, or find another doctor who doesn’t do it that way. I’ve had three or four now and only the first was anything more than a minor annoyance. Why? Because that first doctor insisted on the “jug of fun” prep while all the others didn’t. Downed the two little bottles of prep, consumed just clear liquids, done.

Just like the coaches that…

Just like there are zero consequences for the coaches that recruit them when they leave.

The huge problem for ESPN…

The huge problem for ESPN and the ACC on this is that FSU is a Florida public institution. And Florida public institutions have very specific obligations when it comes to what’s known as “sunshine law”. Prediction: this by argument by ESPN/ACC will actually end up being the undoing of the whole GoR, as it aplies to FSU, and ESPN/ACC were baited into it by FSU.

I don’t think that would…

I don’t think that would circumvent Sunshine, as Sunshine doesn’t only pertain to documents. Sunshine is waaaaaaaay more expansive than FOIA.

This is an excellent point!

This is an excellent point!

I anticipate they will run…

I anticipate they - ESPN and the ACC - will run into a serious issue on this claim because of Florida's "sunshine law" requirements.

Unfortunately "college…

Unfortunately "college football" already thinks they know why. And that they believe that will continue to work in Michigan's favor.

Yes.

I understand your point of view.

I don't love someone…

I don't love someone reneging on an offer they'd accepted, but the insider reporting was substantially correct.

Honestly, if someone reneges on an offer they'd accepted it's not someone I want anyway.

Yep. And only Michigan fans…

Yep. And only Michigan fans realize that in the majority of the games this season JJ seldom played much more than half of the game. That’s not the case for the QBs with the the “more impressive” stats.

Come on now, if Fisch goes,…

Come on now, if Fisch goes, he’s the first call.

We had this question more or…

We had this question more or less as soon as the Chiefs got the ball, too. They said on the broadcast (but not until the sequence you described was unfolding) that it would have continued into the next OT, just like the end of a quarter.

Very likely a heck of a lot…

Very likely a heck of a lot more reliable than a Washington reporter reporting on a former Arizona coach interviewing at UCLA, in all reality.

If this doesn’t make people…

If this doesn’t make people understand how fundamentally important relationships are in recruiting nothing ever will.

As with anything, follow the…

As with anything, follow the money.

Just wanted to echo on the…

Just wanted to echo on the Antigua quarter zips.  FANTASTIC.

The point of my post about…

The point of my post about language wasn't about Harbaugh, but rather about some here talk about the ASD community in an offensive and derogatory manner.  It's not ok.

You're seriously going to…

You're seriously going to argue FOR continuing to use offensive and derogatory language? That's the angle you're going for?

That's not really correct -…

That's not really correct - it wasn't a diagnosis until 1980, and so on that basis it could have been a diagnosis applied to "kids" with birth dates going as far back as 1963.  Now, of course, as a diagnosis it had an acceptance curve, and so most kids in that 1963-1985(ish) period weren't commonly diagnosed, but the point is that they could have been.

People on the autistic…

People on the autistic spectrum are more capable than society realizes.

Quite often more capable than most members of society, if we are being real.

Yes, seriously. It's highly…

Yes, seriously. It's highly likely (whether he wants to admit it, or even actually knows) and the way that people talk about this topic is honestly incredibly offensive (and revealing). It needs to stop.

No one is SoCal cares about…

No one is SoCal cares about the Chargers, either. So there’s that.

Yeah. The Chargers…

Yeah. The Chargers themselves literally told us they do.

It’s your right to disagree,…

It’s your right to disagree, but to many it absolutely does. And just as rightfully so.

Harbaugh’s moves are really…

Harbaugh’s moves are really making me not like him.

This. My exact reaction is “F that guy”. And people wondered why the whole “Harbaugh burns bridges wherever he leaves” thing was a thing. How he is doing all of this is why that’s a thing. People blamed Jed York et al, but the reality is that it happened when he left Stanford, when he left SF, and now here. At some point you have to just accept that the root problem is the common denominator.

Exactly! And I find it…

Exactly! And I find it completely unlikely that he won’t do just that.

Yes, this. I’m just ready…

Yes, this. I’m just ready for the time when these posts end and we all just can look forward.

It - superb hidden talent…

It - superb hidden talent identification - is a consistent theme with Harbaugh teams at Stanford and Michigan, without having many/any of the same people involved, which strongly suggests it’s systemic.

I don't expect any surprises…

I don't expect any surprises either, but I also don't think portal activity right now is an indicator.  The reason being that school has started everywhere now and so enrollment at a destination school for the spring semester wouldn't be possible at this point. Perhaps one of the biggest "favors" of the length of the Harbaugh process is that little nugget.

This kid (relatively…

This kid (relatively speaking) has gone from playing ball at a community college in Kansas to being head coach at the winningest program in college football, fresh off their most recent national championship, in under 20 years.  Wild.

In large part because of all of the things that Jim Harbaugh is great at, perhaps the greatest is his ability to spot hidden potential.

And that’s the important…

And that’s the important part of that quote everyone forgets. It wasn’t about being born on third.

I believe this is the…

I believe this is the correct take. He isn’t a score settler (but he definitely is someone who forms strong judgments), and most relevantly he isn’t someone who plays “politics” and that’s an essential to stay (for long) in corporate/academic structures. Those folks rise fast but don’t stay long, where ever they go.

My assumption is - the…

My assumption is - the position has already been posted.

If it was, it isn’t currently.

So… only two “experts” got…

So… only two “experts” got it right.

I'd rather us be the best…

I'd rather us be the best pro-style school, especially with wisconsin going away from that scheme.

This right here. It’s also a talent advantage - less teams to utilize the unique attributes of a large number of athletes that spread/speed in space teams won’t/don’t.

My view as well. One of the…

My view as well. One of the hardest things to do is what comes next after you achieve your goals. He did that at Michigan, but after that comes a void that needs to be filled. He chose the easy route to fill that void.

Do you really thing Harbaugh…

Do you really think Harbaugh does email?

He is the all time leader in…

He is the all time leader in the SEC in passing yards

That says more about passing in the SEC than it does about Will Rogers.
