What if your state has legalized pot and/or doesn't register firearms?

"Should we compensate student research assistants because they are the baseline for a billion dollar industry? Are the med students at Michigan who invent a new pharmaceutical drug that makes billions entitled to the profits? (Hint: the answer is no, the university gets everything... Because, like athletes, the students are given the opportunity to use facilities and learn from outstanding personnel)."

Anyone else find it interesting that the last time the Triple Crown was won, only FIVE horses ran in the Belmont?
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Surprised this wasn't posted||
Surprised this wasn't posted sooner (like when the games were actually on), considering the Ohio game was live on national TV.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Oh he definitely has legal||
Oh he definitely has legal standing on the capacity consideration. There isn't any question about that. The reason, that no one I've seen comment on anywhere, why the offer price from Ballmer was SO much over fair market value is that it makes it hard to argue during any guardianship/conservatorship procedure g that the sale wasn't in the financial best interest of Sterling. That still may not be enough, though, as there are other ways they could have structured a deal that would have had much smaller tax ramifications. Anyone arguing that there aren't legitimate legal issues here is way, way off base.

I agree all of this except the last sentence. There really isn't anything novel about this case (at least in the T/E sense). It's more likely to be in (what exists of) guardianship/conservatorship texts, or family law texts.

I think that would be about a worst case scenario (for income tax, anyway). Any adjustments to basis wouldn't be public record, so it could be quite a bit less than that. But yeah, still huge, no matter what!

Wow. One heck of a tax hit coming with that one.

I've actually done this, and I get your point that tastes change, but honestly those shows were terrible. Seriously, if you have Netflix, go back and watch the original episodes of any of the "classic" TV shows of the 70s-90s. Seriously not good at all. Although, to be fair, we could be talking about completely different eras of "classic", because pre-70s "classics" have held up pretty well.

Probably blurred out his address. That's what would be there on a formal letter...

He's very likely to lose the interim tag. If he's not promoted to GM I would be shocked.

|14 weeks 1 day ago||That's kind of the point,||
That's kind of the point, though. Right now, the people who only watch a handful of channels (that'd be me; I might watch 6 cable channels) are subsidizing the ones who watch many channels. Every bit of research shows, though, that the average consumer is more like me. The idea that the cost will go up for the average individual is ludicrous. The cost for the average person will go down (because even if the channel cost goes up, they will be paying for less channels), but the average overall cost could go up (for the reason that you identified).

I thought Stalock played really well. His team imploded around him after the second Kings goal. He could perhaps be blamed for the second goal that started the implosion, but it's a head scratcher as to why that wasn't blown dead.

Come on. There is plenty of reason to criticize Fleury, but the way he closed out this series isn't one of them.

Yep. Sure am.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||His reaction was most likely||
His reaction was most likely to your "figuring how out little to pay, just like other employers" comment. You do realize that many employers, at least those who employ professionals and who actually understand why play as little as possible is a horrible economic strategy, don't operate that way, right?

So only the pro-union side is allowed to advocate for their position? Is that really how that works? If so, that sounds less than fair.

This. That era is long gone. That VW vote in TN was HUGE in terms of that movement ever picking up steam. VW didn't remotely oppose it and it still lost big.
|17 weeks 3 days ago||Um, yeah, definitely watched||
Um, yeah, definitely watched the entire game. Shots were like 16-7 Pittsburgh after the first and they totally dominated zone time. First 5-7 minutes were all Columbus, but after that it was all Pittsburgh.

To be really fair, game three was only close on the scoreboard. Pittsburgh absolutely dominated that game. Bobrovsky standing on this head is the only thing that kept Columbus in that game.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Tough loss, but the game one||
Tough loss, but the game one win still has the odds pretty significantly in Detroit's favor. The game one winner wins the series almost 2/3 of the time, and even higher when the game one winner is the road team. Just need to keep battling.
