Honestly, about half of these are perfectly applicable to ANY professional job interview. The half that aren't seem pretty reasonable job-specific encouragements for successful interviewing.

That Panthers-Islanders series was one of the best first round series I've seen in a long time.

Minnesota got screwed big time on what would have been the tying goal. That was in when the puck rolled on edge (the beauty of a DVR and slow motion replay). Inexcusable for the NHL to miss that.

It's hard to believe that the Caps have only won FIVE playoff series during Ovechkin's entire career. That just doesn't seem possible.

You have literally no idea what you're talking about. Living here, I can assure you that I hate this team with the heat of a thousand suns, but you're just flat out wrong. Even in their terrible stretch before their most recent run since Vinik bought the team and hired Yzerman their attendance was fine. Do games get a lot of out of town fans? Yep, sure that can be the case, but it's because those fans will pay handsomely for those tickets. It's easy to make fun of, but I don't blame them.

Seriously, take the "hockey doesn't work in the south" drivel and get a clue. Tampa Bay is one of the highest drawing teams in the NHL. This is a fantastic hockey market.

|1 week 4 days ago||Having played this position||
Having played this position at a decently high level, this is spot on. Shots that are long, or slow, or worse, long and slow, are the absolute worst. Goaltending in hockey is completely a muscle memory/reaction position (the fundamentals and positioning are so that you're in the right place and body position so that your reactions are correct and you're in the right spot for them). Whenever you actually have to think about a shot that's when it's most likely to go wrong. That said, I don't think the average person would have made this save either. The thing not mentioned anywhere (including the coverage during the game) is that this would have been icing, but for the tip at center. It's certainly no excuse, because he should have been paying better attention, but I'm willing to bet that's where he lost his focus, rather than as it approached the net. All of that said, it's a complete non-issue if he had just done the one thing they drill into your head since you first start playing the position: keep your stick on the ice!

Most likely Tampa Bay drops like a rock right out of the playoffs, so really just need to outpace Boston and it's fine.

Can't wait until they either get it or don't so that these threads will stop. Any other consistent grouping of threads every couple of days with the same title the mods would delete. This one? Nope. Exact same content, from initial post to subsequent comments, every single time.

I'm somewhat surprised at this point that the NFL doesn't just get it over with and acknowledge the issue. The longer they wait, the more players and former players have potential liability claims. After they do, they can hide behind an assumption of risk shield for all the players that come next (and plausibly can with most current and former players - since, well, repeated head trauma is pretty obviously a bad thing).

No one in Tampa Bay expects him to stay if the Detroit job opens up and what you said is precisely what he did here: take an embarrassingly mismanaged team full of albatross contracts and build an empire (with the added disadvantage that they had virtually no talent in the pipeline).
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Your part about the week to||
Your part about the week to week preparation versus the ability to use the bowl practice is precisely what I was getting at in my immediately prior post (that you responded to), but I didn't say it very well. Week to week, when implementing a game plan, isn't when you have the ability to focus on bigger, structural aspects, but bowl/spring are.

You don't think it's possible that they improved their ability to read the holes, plays, and cut back lanes in four weeks of practice? Really?
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Thanks for the great||
Thanks for the great response. What you described is what I was feeling, but wasn't articulating. There was a noticeable difference, but it's more likely the result of reading the plays and holes better. Not a physical skill difference, but a difference nonetheless.

|4 weeks 4 days ago||Interesting. I don't||
Interesting. I don't necessarily see it that way about the bowl game. If it were just Smith, then ok, but it seemed like everyone that played showed substantially better patience and vision. My guess would be it was a major focus in bowl pracrice. If that's the case then even though it's the same players for the most part it really could be much improved. It just seems that we saw so much improvement in virtually every other position over prior years that it really is possible that this group could take a major leap with the improved coaching that they now have over the prior staff (just a bit later than some of the other groups).
