that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

had a buddy who grew up in Hamtramack and he took me to Old Shillelagh a couple of times back in the 80's. Spirited group. Nothing Irish on the west side of the state

Paramus Catholic is a private college prep school. Therefore, they can 'recruit' any student they want from anywhere just like the parochial schools do in Michigan...correct? And if they do, that will surely piss off someone

So you interview Rick Bay and Gordon Gee for this article and suggest that the next AD essentially can't be the present interim AD because he has no experience as a big time collegiate AD...So my contention is that if our record was 9-2, this article would never have seen the light of day. In addition, I wouldn't have had to read quotes from an ex-OSU AD and an ex-OSU president less than 24 hours before a Michigan-OSU game. I remember in the 70's and 80's how people hated Don Canham for his transformation of the Michigan brand. In the end, Michigan won football games and that was all that mattered. Michigan needs a new football coach. That's the bottom line

wrong. Successful CEOs are certainly self-confident but they aren't stupid. Successful CEOs surround themselves with the right people. Successful CEOs don't operate on themselves. You need to give it a break

think about things more objectively. Jim Hackett became CEO of a huge company that was tanking. He was 39 years old at the time. He turned the company around and took it through an incredibly difficult time. He stood up to ridicule, second guessing and random vitriole. He cared about his employees. He convinced Steve Jobs to become his customer. Jim Hackett has lots of experience. He'd be a great AD

I played for this great football coach at Michigan, Bo Schembechler. What I got from him was this drive to compete. If a C.E.O. doesn’t want to win, then you don’t want them in the job. You just can’t have a temperament that says average is O.K. You have to be really driven, and you can be driven in quiet ways. You don’t have to be screaming and yelling. You just want to win really badly, but you don’t want to win at any cost.
Schembechler told a famous story about his father taking this exam to be a fireman. He loses to a guy who cheated and he says to his father, “Why didn’t you tell them?” And he says, “It wasn’t my job to tell them.” Bo then asks, “Why didn’t you cheat?” And he says, “Who wants to win by cheating?” And it shaped his ethos as a coach.
Whenever I get a chance to talk to somebody who’s young about integrity, I tell them you almost have to practice for those moments when your integrity might be tested. To say it another way, people tend to double down and do bad things under the most extreme pressure.
Works for me

I have no problem with this brochure or any brochure that aims to keep the public healthier. What if this was a brochure for prostate cancer or breast cancer? And is depression any different, as a disease entity, than prostate or breast cancer? Ten yerars ago we didn't talk about depression. Now because of the 'Michigan Difference' we're talking about a significant healthcare issue. You might find it interesting that 40,000 people will take their lives this year inthe US...

in any successful boycott is moral outrage. At this point, I can't say I've reached moral outrage. I've reached differing types of outrage but can I say I'm outraged morally? No, not yet. And with this group of student athletes it's unlikely that my outrage will attain that status.
