|1 week 2 days ago||Ehhhhhh||
This is far too similar to the "my boy works at Willow Run and just saw Jim Harbaugh" rumor that one of buddies told me in 2011. Jesus I hope it's true though.
|1 week 4 days ago||Haha yes...||
I think I can afford Kate Upton.
|1 week 4 days ago||You sir....||
|1 week 4 days ago||We can be sure of....||
We can only be sure of 1 of 3 things:
1) Harbaugh is positively interested. Given that he loves his alma mater and seems like a really solid, principled dude (see family trips to Africa to build homes), he would not be damagingly delaying Michigan's process by stringing them along, unless....
2) Harbaugh is a dick. Given that he knows that every Michigan fan is yearning for him, making every single other coach an initially disappointing fallback option to the base, he'd be a real dick to not definitely communicate that he is not interested. If he has and we are not aware of that, then....
3) Hackett is a train wreck. Given that we all want Harbaugh as our coach more than Kate Upton as our wife, it would be a major disservice to the future coach if Hacket did not publicly communicate that we are not looking at Harbaugh. The longer we have to digest that before the new coach is brought in, the better that will be for everybody.
I presume that everyone is competent and principled, so #1 seems by far the most likely.
|2 weeks 9 hours ago||Next Bo...||
We need to stop the Bo crap. He's a guy in history who forged where the program/university is, but that needs to be dropped when applying to the modern day. When we start looking for that, we get annoyed when someone doesn't run a style of offense that has been deemed nearly obsolete in the college game (save that NFL team in Alabama) or speaks with a slightly unfamiliar twang.
Personally, I'd rather see the team win football games with a coach in a clown suit who speaks in fart noises than the embarrassment that this program has been lately.
|2 weeks 11 hours ago||Totally agree.||
It's probably down by 5-10%. But if that same exact quality team played off campus, was called the "Ann Arbor Argonauts," and was comprised of 60% JC students and Meijer employees, they'd be pressing for 10,000 fans, let alone 100,000.
|2 weeks 11 hours ago||His point...||
Double Post. Sorry ladies / gents.
|2 weeks 11 hours ago||His point...||
I think he messed up his point by mentioning Denard. There are extremely few players that may increase viewership by 10-20% such as Denard. His point would have been better made by saying that nobody watches NCAA football because the that Arizona punter that joined the plaintiffs. Outside of the 5-10 Denards in the country every year, viewership is based on a base level of competence + the university thing.
|2 weeks 12 hours ago||Agreed||
If we're watching for good football and skilled players, we'd just watch the NFL. While football prevents players from taking other jobs like random frat bro can (I'm in favor of stipends), the big draw/money in college football isn't due to the talent levels. For talent purposes, we're basically watching the minor leagues of the NFL....which wouldn't have very high viewership.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Damn||
I just moved to Chicago.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Talk about living in the past....||
Man we really need to get a respectable team so every other fanbase stops mocking our backwards looking ways.
|3 weeks 11 hours ago||Cowherd||
This is better info from Cowherd. He says that it'll happen this weekend. I don't think he needed to give the time frame if he was completely full of crap.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Stop||
We let kids in at the clearinghouse minimum. This "we're at a disadvantage because we have higher standards" crap is flat out false. We are at a disadvantage because of a massive blue collar population shift south and have an alumni base that demands things other than hiring the best coach possible (has to run a certain scheme, has to be like a coach from 30-40 years ago, has to give blowjobs to the memories of guys who played 100 years ago, has to inflate kids' egos with " this is Michigan," causing them to be a bunch of entitled pussies who have 1/4 of the hunger of our rivals).
|8 weeks 12 hours ago||Excellent...||
I'm pleased that President Schlissel made it as clear as possible that this Michigan Man thing is a bunch of horseshit. We follow it like Bible when the idol of this athletic department had zero Michigan ties when he arrived on campus. That seemed to work out alright.
|8 weeks 13 hours ago||Assbag....||
One thing that has perturbed me about this football coach / football program is that they think it's all about them. "All that matters is the development of these kids as men." They think it's still 1920s football or modern day non-revenue sports where it actually is 90% about the players. Sorry bros, but that ship has sailed a long time ago. When they're eating training table meals, lifitng / hanging out / practicing in palaces, playing in front of millions of people, and functioning as some version of a demi-god, it is no longer just about the players.
If they wanted to play football where it was just about them and the 100 guys they're playing with, they should have gone to the patriot league. Enjoy the lack of world renown doctor attending to your every need, study facilities, and other perks, and enjoy the 10 hour busrides to games where 2,000 people will watch. These guys can't have the luxuries afforded professionals and expect that nobody will ever expect to give any input.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||Wowzers....||
I guess pointing to Kalis as an example of player development is the equivalent of pointing to Hoke's track record as an example of program development.
Perhaps with the next coaching search, we can prioritize competence and intelligence above who wants to be here and who loves the university. I want to coach michigan and I love the university, but I am nowhere fit to run an organization like this program.
|9 weeks 17 hours ago||This is a good touch....||
First off, I hate soccer. God I hate soccer. Nevertheless, I think summaries dropped in once or twice over the course of a season for the less publicized sports would be a great thing going forward. It uses this great platform to give some of the less recognized scholar athletes some name recognition amongst the alumni base and allows us flyover fans to keep up on the other sports that we generally wouldn't take the time to follow.
I also think a great addition would be a spotlight on some graduating seniors at the end of each fall/winter/spring season highlighting what some of these people are doing after college. We get all wrapped up in who's playing on what practice squad or D league team, but it'd be great to hear about some of these students in the less visible sports going off to McKinsey, Google, Harvard med, etc.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||Annoying||
God this guy is getting annoying. Just watching us play this 1990s brand of football in the modern era where even "pro style" has changed is beyond nauseating. This slow tempo slow play development crap is a thing of the past (unless you have God's gift of an offensive line).
Can't wait until we rush 43 times for 27 yards against Sparty, only to have Hoke say "we didnt execute."
|10 weeks 1 day ago||All sports....||
They need to cut prices for all sports. When I was applying to grad schools, I noticed that at UT, students paid somewhere between $70-100 for their IDs to get them into ALL sports. For just Michigan football, basketball, and hockey, this would cost a student around $1,000.
The first time I knew that this AD was out of touch was when I was sitting around the law quad and thought it'd be fun to go catch a sunday Big 10 baseball game (despite Michigan playing a brand of baseball that would pale in comparison to good southern California high school baseball). I walk over there and realize that despite the stadium being 1/4 full, I was getting charged twice as much for admission than I would had I been going to a top notch, College World Series caliber Stanford game.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Shitty and stubborn...||
The fact that peppers plays so little is sign #300 that these coaches are too stubborn, incompetent, and / or ignorant to coach this team. You have the best athlete in the country last year already built for college and he's getting such little PT on one of the crappiest teams in the country. Why any top recruit would ever come to play for these assbags is beyond me.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||Weird...||
This all seems pretty weird to me. I understand every reason to hate Dave Brandon, but why are people calling for his head more than Hoke's? Do people already count Hoke as dead, so they're using this as a platform to get Brandon canned? I don't see why this Shane thing has any impact on Brandon.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Phew...||
Turns out they both have Michigan ties. I was worried there for a second that we might branch out a little bit.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Precious timeouts....||
Wouldn't want to "waste" a precious time out early-ish in a half. Hoke never does things like that.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||What I meant....||
Do you think that players view Saban, Urbz, D'Antonio/Narduzzi, Bielichick, Harbaugh, etc. as father figures? Maybe some do in the kick-your-ass father kind of way, but not in the kiss your cheek and give you a noogy kind of way. I know that there are general studies out on "How to Train a Millenial," but that applies more to high school prep school baseball and tennis than big time college football.
I'm just searching for a solution to why we continue to disgustingly under achieve (the youth thing has run it's course) and this would seem to fit pretty well.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||Problem....||
I seriously think that this quote is a maaaajor problem with this underachieving program:
"Coach, last night Bryan Mone said when he first started working with you he was scared of you and now he says you’re like a father figure."
|14 weeks 5 days ago||Caption....||
Hoke: I can't believe theyre still letting me do this.
Mattison: Why is Brady's nose so pink?
|15 weeks 1 day ago||Football...||
This is the closest thing to competitive football that we have going at the moment. GOOOOO BLUE!!!!
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Family / Togetherness / as one....||
I don't read other schools' message boards, but do players at other schools talk this much about "family......togetherness...etc." It's starting to get nauseating and I just keep picturing all of these players chumming it up in Schembechler Hall with their cool uncles on everyone else's dimes.
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Cool||
General rule to live by: be veeeery skeptical of anything / anyone who thinks that Cornell and Color-of-Shit University are better than Michigan.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||The Nussmeier insurance policy.....||
He will be head coach, will bring in a bunch of young asshole stud assistants from his time in Alabama, and we'll be fine.
