That defense of "it's not what you think....just let us kind of in" had way too much of a "just the tip" vibe to it. Don't do it. It won't end well.

Please write a book. It can be a book about anything. While not intended to be a tallest midget statement, you are one hell of a writer for a computer engineer. The last two days have been golden.
|2 weeks 18 hours ago||The real question...||
The real question isn't "where are these four stars that haven't seen the field?" As this board has pointed out, 4 stars disappear at every school. The real question is why all of these four stars haven't seen the field while the four stars we have seen look nothing like their peer recruits that went to other schools.
I really think that the strength and conditioning has been abysmal. Whether that's Wellman's fault of a crappy program or Uncle Hoke's fault for creating a culture of satisfaction, who knows. All I know is that I watch other schools playing with far greater speed and "omg shirtless" type muscle than michigan has been putting out there. Given that the 2012s at Alabama/osu looked the same on the Rivals videos as the 2012s at Michigan, there were obvious deficiencies floating around schembechler hall.
|3 weeks 17 hours ago||Sorry guys....||
To be fair, if this type of thing happened at any other college, we'd be crying foul and wondering how this isn't compensating a recruit. I'm sure UM did its homework and it's not against NCAA regulations, but this is worth more and has a greater direct impact on a recruit that some Lebron "procured" headphones.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||The scowl....||
Aside from Pete Carroll harnessing 30 5-stars per year on his rosters, find me one great college football coach that doesn't look like an asshole / is an asshole. We had a jolly clapping seal and that didn't turn out so well.

The article was posted 20 mins ago.....Damn sportswriters being 2 days behind and me not having Twitter. Be nice. I tried.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Stanford....||
Stanford and Michigan are kind of apples and oranges here. I think the Michigan product is big enough and Harbaugh is sweet enough to put a run it at some top quality guys, but Stanford is Stanford. I know a lot of our grad programs are up there, but these kids are going for undergrad, which is in a class of its own, maybe shared by Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.

I love it. You ask a question and a computer engineer at the ready. I've never emailed Brian though. It seems like an intimidating wizard of oz type experience.
|6 weeks 14 hours ago||Twitter updates||
Any way the site can have a small space on the Harbaugh banner just devoted to his latest tweet? Like some sort of auto-update linked to Twitter. That'd be a nice touch.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||Yost....||
I agree in a way. There's nothing wrong with someone having immense pride in their University. But I think if you talk about the history of it, players start to think theyre great before they do anything great (except for having Mike Farrell love them). Cool, you go to the college with the most all time wins. That means nothing for 2015 except that we have the potential to be embarrassed on national tv more often.
Eitther way, Yost was speaking over 100 years ago when there was no professional football and the only people who went to college were rich white kids who were going to be very successful by default since an absurdly low amount of people went to any college, let alone Michigan.
Now you have a much different socioeconomic group of kids playing with this monstrous NFL carrot hanging out there. The carrot is less apt to motivate players if they have these false visions of themselves being the next Gerald Ford b/c their cool Uncle Hoke has been reading them bedtime stories about him.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||Until....||
Until we kick the "This is Michigan" shit that Hoke started, which has yielded a ton of entitlement and players focusing more on using their degrees after college as opposed to getting better at football, we're going to struggle. By all means, use that degree, but don't view it as a fall back if / when football doesnt work out.
I bet Sparty / OSU has way more of the Cuban baseball player "I sure a shit better hit my way off of the island" mentality, which gives them some tough grinders that turn into football manbeasts after 2-3 years.
Hopefully Harbaugh can infuse that Stanford mentality of "you might as well kick ass while you're here even if you are going to go work in biz dev at facebook in 2 years."
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Hogan....||
And if we get Kevin Hogan (it just makes too much sense for it not to happen), we jump to #4 immediately. Given how people in sports and non-sports work harder when playing for a new person (See: 2011), coupled with the recruiting talent that is somewhere hidden deep below the bowels of the M00N game, we could have a really solid year if we can find / mold a decent QB...and if the strength and conditioning coach isnt another blowhard that somehow keeps lean 18 year old linebackers hovering at the same weight for 3 years while talking more about navy seals leadership than crushing bros on the football field.
|7 weeks 15 hours ago||Errrrrr.....||
He belongs there more than any coach. Not only is he a top of the line coach, but his team is the only one in the country that played both of these teams this year.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Nice||
I like the super star young Harbaugh mold coach. As long as he doesnt get poached for a head job, he could be a great long term replacement should Harbaugh get the ship sailing straight and decides to chase a super bowl in a few years.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Good point....||
I sense that Hoke recruited heavily on the "This is Michigan" / "Michigan Man" / "Leaders and Best" stuff that if spun the wrong way, then coupled with the awe shucks clapping uncle seal mentality, can breed some really soft self-entitled players. I think Notre Dame has fought this for the last 20 years, especially before Kelly got there.
It'll be interesting to see how the types of kids drawn to Hoke will deal with this new regime.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Ah come on....||
Creating conjecture about vague crap that a kid and his dad take to the media isn't really rumor mongering crap that makes a "fan base look bad." If these 18-22 year olds don't want people people creating conjecture about them, they should either a) not go to the media after discussions with their coach, or b) go play at Dartmouth. Nobody will bother them there.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Pretty obvious....||
Considering that the kid acknowledged that he "had trouble" handling going from starter to mop-up time, then left for "personal" issues, I'd bet a large sum of money that he flipped the shit out after getting benched (probably first time in his life), then Hoke suspended him for the whole year, and now Harbaugh told him if hes going to come back after flipping out on his previous coaches, he's going to have to X,Y,Z.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Denard and Mike Martin???||
Poor examples. One was a track star from Florida and the other was a heavyweight state champion wrestler.
The reality is that aside from Mike Martin, Denard, Frank Clark, Lewan and Devin Funchess, we haven't had anyone in the last 5-6 years who looked like they belonged on the same field as the top programs in the country in combination of size and speed at their positions.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Fire Harbaugh||
|10 weeks 2 days ago||Ehhhhhh||
This is far too similar to the "my boy works at Willow Run and just saw Jim Harbaugh" rumor that one of buddies told me in 2011. Jesus I hope it's true though.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||Haha yes...||
I think I can afford Kate Upton.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||You sir....||
|10 weeks 4 days ago||We can be sure of....||
We can only be sure of 1 of 3 things:
1) Harbaugh is positively interested. Given that he loves his alma mater and seems like a really solid, principled dude (see family trips to Africa to build homes), he would not be damagingly delaying Michigan's process by stringing them along, unless....
2) Harbaugh is a dick. Given that he knows that every Michigan fan is yearning for him, making every single other coach an initially disappointing fallback option to the base, he'd be a real dick to not definitely communicate that he is not interested. If he has and we are not aware of that, then....
3) Hackett is a train wreck. Given that we all want Harbaugh as our coach more than Kate Upton as our wife, it would be a major disservice to the future coach if Hacket did not publicly communicate that we are not looking at Harbaugh. The longer we have to digest that before the new coach is brought in, the better that will be for everybody.
I presume that everyone is competent and principled, so #1 seems by far the most likely.
|11 weeks 9 hours ago||Next Bo...||
We need to stop the Bo crap. He's a guy in history who forged where the program/university is, but that needs to be dropped when applying to the modern day. When we start looking for that, we get annoyed when someone doesn't run a style of offense that has been deemed nearly obsolete in the college game (save that NFL team in Alabama) or speaks with a slightly unfamiliar twang.
Personally, I'd rather see the team win football games with a coach in a clown suit who speaks in fart noises than the embarrassment that this program has been lately.
|11 weeks 12 hours ago||Totally agree.||
It's probably down by 5-10%. But if that same exact quality team played off campus, was called the "Ann Arbor Argonauts," and was comprised of 60% JC students and Meijer employees, they'd be pressing for 10,000 fans, let alone 100,000.
|11 weeks 12 hours ago||His point...||
Double Post. Sorry ladies / gents.
|11 weeks 12 hours ago||His point...||
I think he messed up his point by mentioning Denard. There are extremely few players that may increase viewership by 10-20% such as Denard. His point would have been better made by saying that nobody watches NCAA football because the that Arizona punter that joined the plaintiffs. Outside of the 5-10 Denards in the country every year, viewership is based on a base level of competence + the university thing.
