My point exactly.  That kid

My point exactly.  That kid needs to learn that the world is cruel.  Parents need to step up and do their part.  Your kid shouldn't just feel good about himself.  He needs to do something to earn the right to feel good about himself.  I would also recommend witholding your love until he does something worthy of it.

I hope you made that

I hope you made that sniffling kid cry when he realized he didn't "earn" those trophies.  Losers like that should barred from playing competitive sports.  "Real" 7 and 8 year old athletes would have left those sorry ass trophies on the field.

Let me get this straight.

Let me get this straight.  This is a U4 league (the "U" stands for under in case you don't realize it) which is not unlike Gymboree and you are upset because they are actually babying babies, correct?  I agree, when is this society going to stop treating 3 and 4 year olds like they are babies?  The kids whose parents can't afford soccer should be working in the mills like the other kids their age!

If you believe that, you are

If you believe that, you are ignoring what has happened to higher education over the last 75 years.  In 1935, you could get a working class job without a high school degree, a middle class job with a high school degree and an upper middle class job with any college degree.   All of these jobs paid enough to support your family.  The people who went to Michigan in 1935 did not have to compete with, for the most part, women, minorities or people from the lower socioeconomic classes for admission.  The people who went to Michigan (or any college for that matter) in 1935 were the elite.  It was much much much harder to get in 1995 than it was in 1935.

People have to put other

People have to put other people down to justify their decisions.  Don't listen to the people from State and don't tell them that their school sucks.  You will be happier in the long run.

I have taken my girls since

I have taken my girls since they were infants (<6 months old).  They are now 12 and 16.  Not sure what the issue is.  By the time they were 3, they had more patience at the game than the 8 to 10 year old boys around us.  Start them early if you want them to like going when they are older.

In the late 70s, early 80s In the late 70s, early 80s Northwestern sold some of its home games to Michigan. M played NU at home 79 through 81 and 83 and 84 before dropping off the schedule for 2 years.
