GEN Pritchard, CO of the unit that captured Davis, lived in my hometown (Allegan). The soldier who first laid hands on Davis is buried just down the road in Martin. There was a story about him in the local paper a few weeks ago: http://www.allegannews.com/allegan-news-news/civil-war-soldier-andrew-bee-honored-after-150-years

There was a line on The Drew Carey Show where Drew, after noticing a similar fold in his new pants, said "I don't know whether to take them back or buy five more pair."

I don't think they'll stop caring until the final gun. They need to RUTS us as badly as possible to have a chance of making the CFP.

Michigan literally left 15 points on the field just on special teams. The block in the back and the roughing penalty have already been discussed (although when I'm king, diving and rolling around like you've taken a sniper's bullet through the knee will result in an offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalty), but if Chesson finishes his block on Kerridge's fake punt, then the big guy rumbles into the end zone.

2200? When did they recalibrate the SAT? Usedta be 800v800m for 1600 was the max...
EDIT: did the legwork - 'verbal' is now 'critical reading' and an 800-point-max writing section was added in 2005.

Six sacks and three turnovers helped a lot. Also two punts downed inside the one, which is rare enought that I thought they were highlight-worthy.

Update: embed fixed (obviously). For some reason it took me several attempts to get YouTube to show the 'use old embed code' checkbox.

What do you mean, 'tonight?' I started late in the first half of the ND game and basically haven't stopped since.
I had a bunch of my YouTube subscribers ask when I was going to get around to doing that game, and I finally had time late last weekend. I should have understood that the intersection of the sets 'parkinggod YouTube subscribers' and 'regular MGoBlog readers' is probably pretty small.

I would really put the general line at I-70. There are a lot more towns like Martinsville south of Indy than there are north of it.
I had a friendly argument along these lines with an Alabama fan in the days leading up to the 2000 Sugar Bowl - I made the argument above; he claimed the South ended at Tennessee.
We had a good laugh when I pointed out that both sides were trying to inflict Kentucky on the other.

Not only is Kentucky *definitely* in The South, I've always figured that if you take one step south off the IU campus, you're also in The South.

Lewis' run directly saved four points, and I don't think he made a mistake elsewhere in the play to break it loose for a big gain. I would have guessed +2 at least.

I think I've figured out the best way to watch the Tour de France as a mildly interested fan:
1. DVR the morning live coverage,
2. Watch the first five minutes as all the talking heads make their predictions.
3. Watch all but the last 15 minutes of the stage in high-speed mode (20x in my case). Drop back to normal speed every so often to see if the race situation has changed (also back up to watch any crashes you noticed while on high speed).
4. Watch the last part of the stage at normal speed. Marvel at the predictions the talking heads got wrong.
I'm almost always through in well under an hour. If there's a stage where there are brutal climbs, I'll watch more of those because I enjoy seeing the riders suffer.

In my experience, M gear had free run on MSU's campus in the early '80s. It wasn't until Perles got some traction that that started to change, particularly the '87 Rose Bowl season.
|1 year 35 weeks ago||I... am not alone?||
I, too, am a lifelong Michigan fan who went to MSU. One of my first sports memories is (sadly) of Mike Lantry missing the FG against Ohio in '73 that would have sent Michigan to the Rose Bowl. Given my incomplete understanding of the rule book as an 8-year-old, I thought Ohio 'cheated' by not giving him another kick since he'd missed on third down and there was still time on the clock. But I digress.
I live in NE Indiana now, and when the conversation turns to Big Ten sports, my friends (most of whom went to Purdue, IU, or the local combined satellite campus if they went to college at all) all ask why I'm a Michigan fan if I went to State. I reply that they're asking the wrong question - it should be "Why did you go to State if you grew up a Michigan fan?"
The answer is money. At the time (if memory serves), State offered me a National Merit Scholarship; Michigan didn't. Since that represented full tuition with enough left over to cover about half of what it cost to live in the dorm, that was the primary factor in my decision, especially since I had no college fund to speak of.
I'd also convinced myself that because State had placed second in the ACM Collegiate Programming Contest two years before, and had won it two years before that, that meant their CS department was better than Michigan's. Whether that was actually correct, I have no idea, but I was happy with the education I got there.
So kudos to you, Mr. Hayes, for having the guts to tell your story and the skills to tell it well.
