Yes, MudBowl is a go -- KO…

Yes, MudBowl is a go -- KO is tomorrow morning at 10:30am at the SAE house (corner of South U & Washtenaw). And yes it involves other houses until SAE gets its chapter back. As usual, all proceeds (donations) go to Motts Childrens Hospital. Come one, come all.

Joey Hewlett

NHS QB now backup RB who earned a scholarship last year. His Dad was a four star QB from Plymouth who played with JH at UM

If he beats OSU

If he beats OSU then he'll be on my fav's of all time ;)

Agreed -- I couldn't care less about this game

I saw more potential in the shit I took this morning than I do in either Sparty or ND

Agreed - Harbaugh #1

Been watching UM Football since 1979.

#1 Harbaugh: the 97 team was great but the greatest I've seen is Harbaugh's Fiesta Bowl Team, Bo & Jim did a number on Tom Osborne in the 2nd half.

#2 Griese: he won the AP and threw chairs at Scorekeepers

#3 Denard: simply amazing, a throwback Bo QB to the early 1970s

#4 Brady: for obvious reasons

#5 Ricky Leach: was the flagbearer for true UM fans during the Rodriguez years

Honorable Mention: Osterban, Chappius, Denny Franklin, Todd Collins, Henne

TechnoBowl

You made me laugh with this comment

Ditto That

Denard is da man!

And Allen Jefferson Too

Don't forget that Allen Jefferson from Detroit DeLasalle was also RB on that team.  This year's RB stable reminds me of back then.

I too think Rodriguez's plan was Denard at RB

I've long thought that Rodriguez planned to move Denard to RB so Gardner could start at QB, making Vincent Smith a change of pace back. Which is why he played Gardner as a true frosh. Gardner woulda been different had Rodriguez been able to develop him into a Pat White type QB. But I won't open the door on what coulda been had UM kept our portion of the deal w/ Rodriguez, rather I am simply ditto'ing this post less the Forcier portion (as I think Forcier sucked)

Fab Five

Fab Five & company beats Trey Burke's team 10 out of 10 times. That front line would crush 2013 and Burke would struggle with a 6'7" Jalen. The rest is gravy.

I do think 89 beats Fab Five & Co but it's close so maybe 6-7 times out of ten. While Rumeal would struggle with Jalen, 89s front line would wear down Fab Five. For those naysayers, fine, older Eazy E out plays younger Eazy E.

I will defer to the old timers who saw Cazzie Teams & 2013 team, there seems to be general consensus that Cazzie Team would win.

Hatfields & McCoys

Hatfields & McCoys was a great TV mini-series and Paxton gave a great performance in it.  Given how strong he was in many different roles, I think he was underrated.  Maybe in time he'll be more appreciated.

I am outraged!!!

Destroying Ferry Field is sacrilegious.  And I am reading correctly that it will be forever lost in order to build a parking lot?  It is shit like this that destroys real value in a community.

I hope pressure is exerted to change this plan before any demo work begins this summer.

Yep, that's what I remember to be a typical JH play.

Harbaugh was a great runner

Yes, this is the correct clip.  And I also want to comment on a post I saw a few weeks ago from someone stating that Harbaugh couldn't run -- not true.  I remember him being nimble in the pocket and doing this sideline to sideline scramble all the time.  Elway was the king of it but JH did it pretty well too.  JH also ran the option and rushed for 12 TDs at UM.  So I'm not claiming him to be Denard but for any youngster who thinks JH was strictly a drop back passer, you sir stand corrected.

RIP. He was a good writer and a hometown Wolverine.

Northville Mustangs

Beat Dearborn at Dearborn.

Northville won the last time it played at Dearborn but that was a long time ago.

Cazzie, Webber, & Rice

Those three for sure.  Rudy T is in my four.  And Burke is the best point guard we've had, although I loved watching Rose.

Those Who Stay

Will Be Champions

Actives vs Alumni

Actives vs Alumni. Charge each Alumni a $100 participant fee to increase the Motts donation by +/- $2500. Motts wins, everybody wins. Go Blue & Phi Alpha.

Fahq em both

I don't give a damn about Sparty or Fuckeyes. But I'm sick of listening to Sparty and their unrealistic view of Spartyz relevance in the Universe so for the first time in my life I'm pulling for OSU.

Coming out party

I've been waiting for this. Buenos suerte, Denard.

Until Harbaugh we were ridiculed

My how times have changed.  When I was growing up we always got knocked for not producing any NFL QBs.  Harbaugh was supposed to change that but as a rookie Ditka made him ride the pine.  It wasn't until Captain Comeback in Indianpolis that Harbaugh became respected.  And shortly thereafter Griese won the NC, quieting the UM QB naysayers.  With that said, IMO without Brady our QB output is a list of serviceable NFLers but no stars.

UNLV

Tark's team was stacked. Additionally, Dukie has many star laden teams (GHill, Laetner, & Hurley) as does UNC. But I hate both those teams for beating Fab 5 & pre-89, respectively.

The Guy Sucks

Beckmann sucks, he got pushed out the door.  Should have happened a long time ago  Another example of a crusty old fart who was to senile to know when to step aside.  Which seems to be very common now a days.

Go ahead and neg me, you old blue hairs.  If we are going to be relevant again, we need to dump this Brandon-ass panzy crap and stop touting to the blue hairs.  That and we need to get a new offensive coordinator who appreciates the option. Fahq man-ball.

Go Blue!

Griese won the title

great topic.  and a real tough question.

Ultimetly Griese is the one who won the title.  Without him we're a team who hasn't won it since 1948.  And griese threw chairs violently at scorekeepers.  So I guess he's my #1.

Henson was a talent.  Wow what could of been.  But what Brady has done in the NFL can't be denied.  I don't care that the question is relative to college QB career.  Brady bumps to #2 on my list due to superbowls.

Up until recently Harbaugh would have been my #3.  Before '97 he was my #1.  But the reality is that he didn't deliver on one of Bo's better chances to win a national championship, and now he behaves like a tool.

Devin, Denard, Demetrius Brown, TC, and Ricky Leach (who I wish would call WTKN more often) receive honorable mention on my list.

Rumeal sucks

I'm old school UM, I was a big Rumeal fan when him & TMills signed with UM... I loved their mohawks at the Anchorage classic (after their Prop 48 frosh year)... Rumeal's D was suspect & his ball handling was too... but he could score and he hit the two OT free throws v Seton Hall so I was a fan of his... until I learned he is a swindler.

What Rumeal did to his Mom, and others, is horrible.  Rumeal sucks.

TMills, in contrast, is awesome.  The Iceman from Romulus is on my Top 10 UM all time basketball player list.  Go Blue!

Fab 5 wins 9 of 10 vs current team

The Bender was solid.

Fab 5 and company beat this year's squad 9 times outta 10 games.

Bring the Fab 5 back.

1988 - 1989

1988 - 1989 is commonly cited as the most succesful modern day UM football & basketball performance.  UM beat USC in the Rosebowl on Jan 2-1989, then UM beat Seton Hall in basketball National Championship on March 16-1989.

This past year was a critical juncture in our return to the top, but in no way is a climax.

I Phone still a no go

I just tried to upload the mgoblog app to my iphone -- still not working.

Specifically the Iphone App Store is not listing mgoblog.  Rather, it lists the UM CBS Interactive app as the only available app.

Please advise (as I am experiencing withdrawl symptoms).

Lets get this guy

Now this is the kinda rb I've been wanting us to pursue!

We need a top shelf RB

I like all the players previously mentioned.

I like Ty Isaac's film, but if its not him them let it be someone else.  I just want a big d*ck swing around running back who is fast as balls and has the moves.

We are Michigan, we are back, and I can't believe that a 5-star rb wouldn't jump at the chance to come in with this next class, take over after Fitz is gone.  I thought it would happen with this current class, it didn't, so its imperative we get a great rb in this next group.

97 D Carried Them

I remember that offense well.  Granted, Griese threw bombs to Tai Streets against Wash St -- but otherwise it was pretty much a field position, grind it out Offense.  Offense line was solid, the skill players descent (ie Howard).

What everybody remembers about 97 was that you couldn't wait for that Defense to take the field, to f*ck the other team up real nice, and to score defensive touchdowns.

Perryy over Hart

Without a doubt.

I don't care what records Hart has.

Sparty is little brother

I don't care what sport it is, Sparty always sux.  The difference is that I root for Sparty when they're not playing us, I always root for OSU to lose.

The Football rivalries translate to all sports.  So in order OSU, then ND, then Sparty. This means that even as rivalries go, the Sparty rivalry is little brother.

Stefon Diggs

To bad we're still not in the hunt for Stefon Diggs.  He had us in his list early on, we had an angle via Countess.  Ditto for Good Counsel's RB Wes Brown, but then he stayed home with Maryland.

I too hope for a strong of out midwest recruiting.  We'll always get our fair share within the Midwest, within Michigan, within Detroit.  Keeping the PSL pipeline for role players who end up making key contributions is crucial for the program's success.  But we also need to keep our presence in California, Louisiana, Florida, etc -- thats where we get the Donovan Warrens, the Leroy Hoards, the Anthony Carters.

Kelly Sucks

I have always thought Crist has potential.  I could see him doing well at Wisc.  Maybe we play him in next year's title game.

But Brian Kelly sucks.  Terrible game coach, and clearly is not managing the ND program either.  I know many people think he's great.  They are wrong.

I love that Dennard f's ND up every year.  Go Blue!

Best Rushing UM Backfield

Didn't see the Tony Boles / Leroy Hoard / Allan Jefferson with Jarod Bunch at fullback backfield listed, I assume bc the 2nd back didn't go over 1k.  Wheatley / Biakabatuka backfield was a great one, but Tim didn't get k his 1k until after Tyrone was gone.

watching posting mudbowl from france

am on vacation with wife in paris, and had been wondering how mudbowl went.  say what you will, but there is no high culture like the sae raiders mudbowl.  thanks for posting.

ND Sux

Whats the problem with Kiffin's statement?  From what I could see it was ND's Superbowl, a team that is still in decline and will be better off when it cans Kelly.

Those Team's Were Stacked

Wow were those Bo Team's that Bunch played on stacked with talent.

Great UM memories.

SAE is open for business, Mudbowl is on

Mudbowl usually starts around 10:30am for noon kickoffs.

I think this game could be a battle

This ia big game for us.  Need a win to continue our climb in the polls.  Go Blue!

Gallon looks good

So far, he's shaping up to be a very dependable receiver, and also seems to have some speed.  I like him.

Angelique's Top 10 RB is junk

I agree -- Ron Johnson is 100% a top 10 RB at UM.  Once I saw that Angelique did not have TWheatley #1, I knew the list was a joke.  Johnson's single game record is one of the oldest on the books, and I wonder if it will ever be broke.

Play Rawls & Hayes Now

Our running game needs to improve.  And we need to win now (this year).

It is true that our O-Line is not opening the holes.  But none of our RBs has established himself as an every down back.  If either Rawls or Hayes can fullfill this role, I support them playing.

Lack of a running game will allow the defense to zero in on Denard, increase his risk of injury, negatively impact our time of possession, and directly impact our win/loss column.

We can worry about next year next year.  Hopefully then we'll be talking about Bri'onte, Garmon, or some other 4-star or better freshman tailback.

Kelly sucks as a coach

I am amazed that people think he's a good coach.  All I hear about is his good record at places like Saginaw Valley, Central, & Cinci.

I for one think the guys sucks, and believe him being named ND coach is the best thing that could have happened to Michigan.  He barely achieved a winning record last year with a very talented roster, and is one the verge of destroying Christ's career (who if he wasn't being asked by Kelly to run would end up being a solid pro qb).  I love that Kelly is ND's coach,. and wonder if ND will have the balls to fire him in three years after he's further pluged that program into the abyss.  F-U Irish!

Those who stay will be champions

Best of luck to these guys.

Wes Brown

That would be great if we can get this kid.  I am all for Brionte, but also would like to have a fallback if Brionte does not Go Blue.  We really need a stud rb in this next class.
