| 10 weeks 2 hours ago | Dining Hall v. Training Table |
I agree, Michigan's dining halls are probably below average when it comes to schools. However, don't forget that football players get training table, which is significantly better than the dining hall. Not sure how UM's training table compares to other schools...unfortunately, I was never allowed to partake. |

| 45 weeks 6 days ago | Dawson |
Ace has told us not to worry about David Dawson. So I won't. Or I'll try not to. I will say this however. Despite having no knowledge whatsoever about offensive lineman skills, potential, etc., David Dawson has quickly become the offensive line recruit I am most excited about. This is likely due to the fact that there has been more out there about Dawson, (and exciting tidbits like the coach using Dawson as an example to the others over and over to teach technique at the one camp, which seems like a real indication of skill, as opposed to a review, somehow). Magnusson or Kalis may be better, but we just haven't heard as much about them. That said, it's sunk in, and I'm now convinced David Dawson is awesome and the best ever. So please don't break my heard Mr. David Dawson. That is all. |
| 48 weeks 6 days ago | Tom and Silas |
I actually was fortunate enough to row with both Tom, and his pair partner, Silas, at different times in my career. They're both great guys, and deserve everything they get. Best of luck to them this summer - I'll be rooting hard. Go Blue, Go Card, Go U.S. |

| 2 years 27 weeks ago | Whoa |
With Devin's back already seriously injured, we can't risk him playing. We also wouldn't want to risk him losing his (ahem) medical redshirt. But that's insifignificant compared to our concern for Devin's health. His back is very, very, injured. But Tate (or anyone else, Avery?) can have as much back-up time as they want.

| 2 years 27 weeks ago | Hemingway's Catch and Run for the Touchdown |
It was third (fourth?) and short, Denard rolls left, has TONS of space for an easy first down, and chose to gun it to Hemingway. Then Hemingway, waited, waited, juked and went for the touchdown. So it all worked out. But as Denard was throwing it, I was incredulous. We had a guaranteed first down, and probably another easy ten yards if Denard just ran. But he chose to make a relatively difficult throw across his body. And this wasn't a case of going for the home run. It wasn't like the first play of the game where no one was between Roundtree and the endzone. There were three Illinois defenders around Hemingway to make the tackle. When Denard chose to throw, he gave up a guaranteed 15 yards and a first down for a chance at completing a 25 yard pass. Even though we got the touchdown, I really wish he'd run for the first down in these cases. |

| 2 years 28 weeks ago | On Taking Other Votes Into Account |
I agree with you. Other people's votes shouldn't matter. I also rarely vote, saving my votes for the best (and worst) comments. However, I do take votes into account when I feel that somebody has made a valid point and is getting negged unfairly. In that case, I almost always give the post an upvote (even though if there had been no negative votes, I would not have voted). |

Who gets everything wrong. Just today, Bethlehem Shoals of Free Darko fisked him for his comments on John Wall. http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/11/04/the-works-john-wall-dances-and-a-fool... Good read, except thinking about Cowherd's asshattery gets me furious. |

| 2 years 29 weeks ago | I don't get the hate |
They added an interesting and competitive team to their schedule. That's a good thing. I don't know why everybody wants to hate on State for this, especially while D'Antonio is currently demonstrating his patented "Zero Tolerance Policy" as a means of effectively molding young men into upstanding individuals. I'm all for hating on State. But for scheduling Boise State? Relax people. |

I recall something about Mouton battling an injury in this game. Maybe this explains some of Brian's ire? |
| 2 years 32 weeks ago | Haloscan |
I feel like people claiming "first" happened a ton during the old Haloscan days. This was when I just lurked, and long before I ever registered. Back when people besides "The Knowledge" got handle-jacked. Oh, the good ole days. Sigh. |
| 2 years 33 weeks ago | While I would hate to denigrate any form of the Bake, |
I must respectfully disagree. When I attended UMich (02-06), West Quad was on the Blue menu while South Quad was on the Maize menu. At South Quad, the Chicken Broccoli Bake was the only entree requiring rice, and the sauce was cooked with the rice. This resulted in rice that had enough time to properly soak up the greasy goodness. The Blue Menu on the other hand served the Bake with another entree which required rice. Therefore, West Quad cooked the Chicken Broccoli Bake sauce separately from the rice. This resulted in a runnier sauce and the rice did not have time to properly soak it up. Further, it always seemed less greasy than South Quad's. Shall we settle the matter with pistols at dawn? |

| 2 years 34 weeks ago | Devin Wants |
Soo, Devin shouldn't be redshirted if he doesn't want to? The internets have been up in arms about how Tate needs to shut up, learn to be a teammate, and do whatever Rodriguez wants him to do in order to be team player. But we shouldn't redshirt a freshman (or sophomore) qb just because he doesn't want to? It seems like a double standard to me. (I know you didn't say anything about Tate. I was just using this as a point of comparison.) |

| 2 years 37 weeks ago | Defense |
I suppose I could envision a scenario where Michigan beats UConn 55-34 and wins big. I'm not saying it will happen, but I could envision it. However, I CANNOT envision a single scenario where our defense holds UConn to 6 points. Not a single one. I am going to assume this writer is a fool. |

| 2 years 37 weeks ago | He discusses it exactly as Rodriguez released it |
But the actual chart at the top of the post does not list Adam Patterson at all. Instead, the 3 deep at Nose Tackle lists Mike Martin, Will Campbell, and Richard Ash.
That's all I was saying. |
| 2 years 37 weeks ago | Depth Chart |
Has Will Campbell directly behind Mike Martin, and does not list Adam Patterson. Based on the rest of your preview, I assume this is a mistake. Unless you're predicting a shift from the depth chart released Monday? |
| 2 years 38 weeks ago | I still think you're missing it |
I think he's summarizing the pain of the past more than anything. Where the last three years have left him. He's not writing off the season, or Rich Rod. As I read it (and interpret everything through my own biases), I see it as a lot of pain, and lowered expectation that anything good might happen. But that will make all the victories (literal, metaphorical, tiny, whatever) all the sweeter. And yes, I'm a little distraught that he doesn't think Rich Rod will make it. My feeble brain refuses to comprehend such a possibility. Go Blue. Please win this week. |

| 2 years 40 weeks ago | Next VY |
But would you keep him off the field so that his four years are improved by the redshirt year? I mean obviously a lot depends on Tate/Denard. If they are terrible, Devin will play; if they are incredible, no need to burn the redshirt. But still, just because a guy is great, that doesn't mean you don't redshirt. Especially a qb who can always use some extra polish. I think we are all forgetting with our lack of depth the last couple of years that the standard for most teams is to redshirt freshmen - especially qbs and offensive linemen. |

It takes a different type of shape to push from lower down. You have to stretch your hamstring, hip flexors, quads, etc. to get down into that lower position, then you have to restrengthen your muscles to push from positions that they aren't used to being in.
Just a thought. |

| 2 years 43 weeks ago | Sorry |
It really had nothing to do with your comment. It was in reference to a joke that is only funny because of how bad it is. The punch line of the joke is an asian man jumping out and yelling "supplies!" when he means "surprise!". Despite how bad the joke is, the punchline has always cracked me up for some reason. When ever I hear the word surprise, I usually have to suppress an urge to reply with jazz hands and "supplies!". Sorry for the thread-jack.

| 2 years 46 weeks ago | My chickenbroccolibake |
My chickenbroccolibake lives on in my heart exactly as it did in the South Quad Kitchens from 2002-2006. My attempts to make it myself just didn't have the same greasy goodness (and I even had the recipe sent to me by the SQuad dining hall manager). |
| 2 years 46 weeks ago | Simple Conjecture |
At least 100%. Possibly higher. |
| 2 years 48 weeks ago | This may surprise some of you, |
This may surprise some of you, but I agree. I loved that stuff so much that the woman who used to run South Quad would send me an email for the days when it wasn't on the menu, but they were going to throw in a single pan. She also gave me the recipe. I made it, but it wasn't nearly as good as at SQuad. I think because I didn't put in 2 lbs. of butter. |
| 2 years 48 weeks ago | Nowhere |
Nowhere does it state any reason that joining the Big Ten hurt Penn State. It simply notes that Penn State has not won a national championship since joining the Big Ten, the incredible aura of being an "independent" in a quaint uniform, and bemoans how far they've fallen from the days when the NYT was taken with an independent who was good at football. I get it, if ND joins a conference, instead of being an awesome independent that is awesome at football, they could end up like Penn State. Believe me, ND wishes it could perform like Penn State on the field. |
| 2 years 49 weeks ago | Non-Football Sports |
Don't need divisions, as they play more than 11 games a season. They can just play everybody. I've kind of assumed that these divisions would only apply to football. |
| 2 years 51 weeks ago | I agree with you |
which makes their continued employment all the more questionable. |
| 2 years 51 weeks ago | Two Things |
Thing the first, I really hope there is no legal motivation for not firing these guys. Ie, somehow canning these guys [who should be canned] would somehow imply a "wilful failure to monitor" or whatever. Thing the second, while compliance may have been "machine-like in its precision", they really failed at raising hell. If you send an email for something you need to receive, and it doesn't come, you need to get up in that person's face. If they are still turds, you need to raise hell with their boss, and so on and so on. You can't keep sending emails into the void. You've gotta get all Walter Sobchek on the mess. |

Weapon of Choice - large IPA or Belgian Tripel The Lloyd - full-flavored Red Rye (I don't know why, but when I think Lloyd I think rye - rye beer, rye whiskey, even rye bread). Chris Perry Carry - a smooth lager that finishes strong. A beer that you could call on an excessive number of times during the Michigan State game to carry you through. |

| 3 years 6 weeks ago | Stanford Women |
I went to Stanford Law after Michigan undergrad. I occasionally played pick-up against the Stanford Women's team (Appel, Hones, and Pohlen are still on the team now). They were good, but comparable to maybe the top tier of players playing pick-up on a college campus. Obviously UConn is a little bit better, but I'd still have to say a men's squad would beat them rather easily. |
