Less old, but still had the same experience in the late 2000's. I'm going to guess we were on the same scholarship, the house still works the "meal job" pipeline. Meal job was great, got lunch and dinner 6 days a week, and the chefs would be sure to hook us up with enough food to last the weekend on friday/saturday afternoons. If you find the right sorority, the girls are not too bad. Some even really nice! Went to a fair share of date parties as well. The minimum wage we made was enough for drinking money and late night specials from Cottage Inn on the weekends. Good times. |
30 weeks 3 hours ago | This is spot on, the first |
This is spot on, the first time I can vividly remember piped in music was for the first UTL game against Notre Dame, and then it was ONLY Seven Nation Army. Which was cool that one time, but not to be repeated over and over. So that was what 5 or 6 years ago? A big part of the cool factor of college sports is how ORGANIC it is. Mr. Brightside during the Cinci game = Cool. It was different and the fans got into it. Then they tried to force it again against Air Force and no one gave a shit. I also like all kinds of music but I don't go to Michigan Stadium wanting to hear some shitty song clip every commercial break. I can do that at home for way cheaper, AND have control over what song I want to hear. Also +1 for flannel and kombucha |

Ehhhh kind of but I disagree. Brand Jordan is a subsidiary of Nike Inc. that operates as its own entity, in the same way Taylormade or Reebok are subsidiaries of the adidas group. Its not like it's just some department at Nike. |

I'm not going to get into the whole adidas vs. Jordan debate but those of you who say this isn't a big deal are on crack. And if you think Nike is not concerned, talk to the thousands of people they laid off this summer |

Liberty takes down Baylor. I hope Baylor has to relive this every day for the next 50 years. Karma baby. |

Really good to hear positive news about the secondary. I know it's coachspeak but encouraging nonetheless as we haven't heard too much about them yet. Especially from a depth perspective |
33 weeks 6 days ago | Except they aren't at all. UA |
Except they aren't at all. UA stock is in the tank, they're losing market share rapidly to both adidas and Nike, and their footwear offerings are lackluster to say the least. UA got lucky from a marketing standpoint riding the success of Steph, Speith, Brady, Cam & Bryce Harper in 2014/2015, but once that flash was gone, they came screaming back to earth. Like it or not, and I know most people here don't, adidas is killing it right now. |

The cowbells. Dear God the cowbells.
In the parking lot. The concourses. The bathrooms. *shudders*
I also sat near the band, and will agree it was about the only positive from that day |

I heard from a pretty reliable source he was spotted on campus with Manti Te'o's ex-girlfriend last week... seems like some controversy brewing |

Your avatar is like, really cool dude. And I'm being serious. Just wanted to let you know. |

You wanna talk annoying PA sounds? I was at the Indiana game in 2011 (the one when both teams decided defense was optional) and swear I heard "First Down HOOOOOOOSIERS!!!" something like almost 50 times. I hear it in my sleep to this day. It's haunting. |

Living in Portland, I always get a lot of shit about wearing my Michigan gear. (which, why really? Why do they care?) But this week, everyone has been pretty quiet. Seems like they feel fortunate to have gotten this far and are worried. |

Can't figure out how to edit my earlier post (mostly a lurker on here), but our official Alumni Club watch party will be held at Cartlab PDX, 1831 SW River Dr, Portland, OR 97201. Hope to see some of you there! |

Alumni Board member checking in here (which will likely give away my mysterious identity, but oh well.) Our default bar for football is the Thirsty Lion downtown, but stay tuned to our Club Facebook page for updates. We're in the process of exploring all options, and may head elsewhere this weekend! www.facebook.com/pdxwolverines will have all of our official events listed, and we reply to messages multiple times daily! |

1 year 36 weeks ago | I think a lot of people here |
I think a lot of people here are with you but don't want to get negged away by the hive mind. You're totally right, and the reason everyone on here keeps making these claims about "Nike is better" "Nike is far higher quality" "Nike makes better designs" is that that's what Nike wants you to think. It's all about perceived value. They're brilliant marketers, far better than adidas or UA, (though if you follow the industry they are losing ground as of late). But you're right, the product is all the same, same materials, even from some of the same factories, except for some patent protected innovations like Nike Air, adidas Boost, etc. I'm not saying you can't like one over the other, for whatever reasons are important to you, but to make a blanket claim that one is "higher quality" is silly. |

total meltdown.
But, I really hate how fouling down the stretch can completely change a game like this. I can't think of any other sport where breaking the rules repeatedly can give your team an actual competitive advantage. Really bothers me. |

2 years 21 weeks ago | Yes. I've come to the |
Yes. I've come to the realization that in this universe, it is inexplicably MSU's year. In every parallel universe, they have 3+ losses but in ours, every comceivable outcome will go their way. Even the Nebraska game, which they lost on an admittedly bad call will not matter in the grand scheme of things. They will beat Penn St. They will beat Iowa, both in probably excruciatingly awful and/or fortunate fashion. They'll get the 4th spot in the Playoffs. Book it. I hope that I'm wrong, but at this point it's easier to just realize everything is going to go their way and go about my business. Go Blue, Beat OSU. |
2 years 32 weeks ago | Enough of this already. For |
Enough of this already. For every "bad" adidas uniform you post here I could post 5 equally bad UA or NIke ones as well. It's not 1970 anymore, a pant stripe isn't flashy or interesting. And guess what? You're a MICHIGAN fan having a conversation about adidas and Louisville and Miami on a MICHIGAN message board so I'd say that's a win for all 3 of them. /inb4 probable delete |
2 years 32 weeks ago | Disagree here, Rudock was |
Disagree here, Rudock was never billed as a home run threat. He's a cautious guy who limits mistakes and keeps TO's to a minimum. You think that the INT's didn't kill us? A pick 6 from the 50 yard line as we're driving to tie the game killed us. A pick in the red zone in the first half killed us. Overthrows for incompletions don't directly lead to points for the other team. Plain and simple, if we didn't turn the ball over we win that game. |

Ha I can't stand them either. But to be fair, they are characters playing roles and I feel that Galloway is just genuinely terrible. |

Ugh Galloway. He is really close (if not at the top) of ESPN "personalities" that I can't stand. Lou Holtz was at least entertaining in a cartoon character type of way. |
2 years 32 weeks ago | So excited for this game. Win |
So excited for this game. Win or lose, I just want to see a competitive team out there. I won't be crushed if we can't pull it out, I'm just super optimistic for a new style of football and more toughness out of this team. Let's goooooooo! |
2 years 32 weeks ago | Yea I'm with you there, |
Yea I'm with you there, outlook would be more positive. But I don't know, I feel like any of our receiving corps can step up and have AT LEAST as good of a season as he had last year. While Funchess' potential was high, his results were underwhelming and frustrating to say the least. I don't think at the end of the year it will necessarily be that big of a downgrade from his last year's performance. |
