Game. Blouses.

Game. Blouses.

I was wondering the same…

I was wondering the same thing, I thought I saw him last week also but couldn't confirm anything on the interwebs.

Kind of wish we still had him for a handful of minutes a game when foul trouble hits... Which seems to be often lately

And the narrative is they'll…

And the narrative is they'll likely be the new #1 with UK falling... annoying.

I for one only have the…

I for one only have the utmost respekt for the world renowned university in East Lansing. A completely upstanding institution of higher learning with an athletic department worthy of the highest praise. Additionally, their medical department operates with the highest level of integrity known to man, a shining beacon to all of their peers.

Win or lose, their American football team plays hard, no quit in them.

The loss to Illinois was a fluke and I hope my team brings their all this weekend in order to defeat this collection of some of the best athletes in all of the sport of football.

Surprisingly little…

Surprisingly little criticism of Harbaugh? Where? Mars?

All I've heard so far in this 3-1 season is that Harbaugh is either

A.) On the hottest of seats and coaching for his life, or

B.) He should have been fired already and banned from coaching forever because he is the literal worst.

do please let me know because i haven't seen any takes lower than the level of "scalding"

This isn't a new take or…

This isn't a new take or anything but I really wish we would throw the ball downfield to our weapons the way USC is tonight. Nico could make these types of plays if we would just give him a shot. Fingers crossed we were just holding back in the first two games

Refreshing to read a…

Refreshing to read a reasonable take on the situation, and I agree with all of these points.

We scored 41 points in the opener with a new offense against a likely bowl caliber team.

Yes the defense needs to improve but it was the first game, no team is playing at their absolute best in the first game.

If we played like this in October it would be way more concerning, but I'm just going to enjoy the win.

Now if our offense was only able to score 7 points against a team like, say, Tulsa... that would be more of a cause for concern.

No. Off the top of my head…

No. Off the top of my head in the past 2 days MSU was just literally unable to move the ball against Tulsa (mad respekt to that MSU D though) and Minnesota needed a gift turnover to beat an FCS team.

I think the top of the top are separating themselves, but overall a G5 can beat a P5 on any given day.

Not to mention programs like UCF that could probably beat the lower half of the B1G

I'll second 99% Invisible.

I'll second 99% Invisible.

Touches on the design of little things you probably don't notice and their impact on society. Sometimes gets a little heavy on art & architecture (naturally) but covers topics all over the map from the design of sports uniforms to how to get an emoji approved for universal use.

Super informative podcast with enough of a library to keep a new listener engaged for a LONG time

Whew, really wish I was…

Whew, really wish I was still living in AA to snag one of these, best in a long time

These replays are ruining…

These replays are ruining basketball. Come on guys. The defender knocked it out of his hand. I don't care if 3 microns of Moretti's right pinkie touched it .0001 seconds after it was hit, that should be Tech ball. Unless we want to go back and replay every single loose ball possession, which is some damn insanity.

Well, we're going to lead…

Well, we're going to lead the nation in Court-Storms-Against. So that's cool.

Also going to be hilarious when all 35 fans in attendance make their way to the floor, they'll be able to fit inside the midcourt logo.

dude i think you're watching…

dude i think you're watching last years game or something, they're lucky we're not up 16

Feels about right

Way less, and this is the time of year I usually start itching for any college football content. The new site just lacks something, I can't put my finger on it but it's just not as interesting as it used to be.

I used to come here multiple times a day, now it's maybe once or twice a week.

Less old, but still had the

Less old, but still had the same experience in the late 2000's.

I'm going to guess we were on the same scholarship, the house still works the "meal job" pipeline.

Meal job was great, got lunch and dinner 6 days a week, and the chefs would be sure to hook us up with enough food to last the weekend on friday/saturday afternoons. If you find the right sorority, the girls are not too bad. Some even really nice! Went to a fair share of date parties as well.

The minimum wage we made was enough for drinking money and late night specials from Cottage Inn on the weekends. Good times.

This is spot on, the first

This is spot on, the first time I can vividly remember piped in music was for the first UTL game against Notre Dame, and then it was ONLY Seven Nation Army. Which was cool that one time, but not to be repeated over and over. So that was what 5 or 6 years ago?

A big part of the cool factor of college sports is how ORGANIC it is. Mr. Brightside during the Cinci game = Cool. It was different and the fans got into it. Then they tried to force it again against Air Force and no one gave a shit.

I also like all kinds of music but I don't go to Michigan Stadium wanting to hear some shitty song clip every commercial break. I can do that at home for way cheaper, AND have control over what song I want to hear.

Also +1 for flannel and kombucha

Ehhhh kind of but I disagree.

Ehhhh kind of but I disagree. Brand Jordan is a subsidiary of Nike Inc. that operates as its own entity, in the same way Taylormade or Reebok are subsidiaries of the adidas group.

Its not like it's just some department at Nike.

I'm not going to get into the

I'm not going to get into the whole adidas vs. Jordan debate but those of you who say this isn't a big deal are on crack.
This is a huge deal.
You guys are acting like Jordan is Russell athletic, but that is not the case. The fact of the matter is that adidas is quickly becoming a more influential brand in youth and street culture. Like it or not, this is a fact.
It's not a fad either. If you've been paying attention this has been coming for a while now.

And if you think Nike is not concerned, talk to the thousands of people they laid off this summer

Liberty takes down Baylor.
I

Liberty takes down Baylor.

I hope Baylor has to relive this every day for the next 50 years.

Karma baby.

Really good to hear positive

Really good to hear positive news about the secondary. I know it's coachspeak but encouraging nonetheless as we haven't heard too much about them yet. Especially from a depth perspective

Except they aren't at all. UA

Except they aren't at all. UA stock is in the tank, they're losing market share rapidly to both adidas and Nike, and their footwear offerings are lackluster to say the least.

UA got lucky from a marketing standpoint riding the success of Steph, Speith, Brady, Cam & Bryce Harper in 2014/2015, but once that flash was gone, they came screaming back to earth.

Like it or not, and I know most people here don't, adidas is killing it right now.

The cowbells. Dear God the

The cowbells. Dear God the cowbells.

In the parking lot. The concourses. The bathrooms. *shudders*

I also sat near the band, and will agree it was about the only positive from that day

I heard from a pretty

I heard from a pretty reliable source he was spotted on campus with Manti Te'o's ex-girlfriend last week... seems like some controversy brewing

Your avatar is like, really

Your avatar is like, really cool dude.

And I'm being serious. Just wanted to let you know.

You wanna talk annoying PA

You wanna talk annoying PA sounds? I was at the Indiana game in 2011 (the one when both teams decided defense was optional) and swear I heard "First Down HOOOOOOOSIERS!!!" something like almost 50 times.

I hear it in my sleep to this day. It's haunting.

Living in Portland, I always

Living in Portland, I always get a lot of shit about wearing my Michigan gear. (which, why really? Why do they care?) But this week, everyone has been pretty quiet. Seems like they feel fortunate to have gotten this far and are worried.

Can't figure out how to edit

Can't figure out how to edit my earlier post (mostly a lurker on here), but our official Alumni Club watch party will be held at Cartlab PDX, 1831 SW River Dr, Portland, OR 97201. Hope to see some of you there!

Alumni Board member checking in here (which will likely give away my mysterious identity, but oh well.) Our default bar for football is the Thirsty Lion downtown, but stay tuned to our Club Facebook page for updates. We're in the process of exploring all options, and may head elsewhere this weekend!

www.facebook.com/pdxwolverines will have all of our official events listed, and we reply to messages multiple times daily!

For sure Muppet worthy

For sure Muppet worthy win.
Let's be real here, Wisco has a very solid defense, but we absolutely showed them up today.
Should not have been this close of a game, but we looked very solid outside of field goals.
I'll give Allen credit for flipping the field more than once today.

Special teams deserves almost

Special teams deserves almost all of this bang

I think a lot of people here

I think a lot of people here are with you but don't want to get negged away by the hive mind.

You're totally right, and the reason everyone on here keeps making these claims about "Nike is better" "Nike is far higher quality" "Nike makes better designs" is that that's what Nike wants you to think. It's all about perceived value.

They're brilliant marketers, far better than adidas or UA, (though if you follow the industry they are losing ground as of late).

But you're right, the product is all the same, same materials, even from some of the same factories, except for some patent protected innovations like Nike Air, adidas Boost, etc.

I'm not saying you can't like one over the other, for whatever reasons are important to you, but to make a blanket claim that one is "higher quality" is silly.

Classic Wisconsin flop

Classic Wisconsin flop

total meltdown.  But, I

total meltdown.

But, I really hate how fouling down the stretch can completely change a game like this.

I can't think of any other sport where breaking the rules repeatedly can give your team an actual competitive advantage. Really bothers me.

Probably something like

Probably something like this.

Yes.
I've come to the

Yes.

I've come to the realization that in this universe, it is inexplicably MSU's year. In every parallel universe, they have 3+ losses but in ours, every comceivable outcome will go their way.

Even the Nebraska game, which they lost on an admittedly bad call will not matter in the grand scheme of things. They will beat Penn St. They will beat Iowa, both in probably excruciatingly awful and/or fortunate fashion. They'll get the 4th spot in the Playoffs. Book it.

I hope that I'm wrong, but at this point it's easier to just realize everything is going to go their way and go about my business. Go Blue, Beat OSU.

Disagree here, Rudock was

Disagree here, Rudock was never billed as a home run threat. He's a cautious guy who limits mistakes and keeps TO's to a minimum. You think that the INT's didn't kill us? A pick 6 from the 50 yard line as we're driving to tie the game killed us. A pick in the red zone in the first half killed us.

Overthrows for incompletions don't directly lead to points for the other team. Plain and simple, if we didn't turn the ball over we win that game.

Ha I can't stand them either.

Ha I can't stand them either. But to be fair, they are characters playing roles and I feel that Galloway is just genuinely terrible.

Ugh Galloway. He is really

Ugh Galloway. He is really close (if not at the top) of ESPN "personalities" that I can't stand. Lou Holtz was at least entertaining in a cartoon character type of way.

So excited for this game. Win

So excited for this game. Win or lose, I just want to see a competitive team out there. I won't be crushed if we can't pull it out, I'm just super optimistic for a new style of football and more toughness out of this team. Let's goooooooo!

Yea I'm with you there,

Yea I'm with you there, outlook would be more positive. But I don't know, I feel like any of our receiving corps can step up and have AT LEAST as good of a season as he had last year. While Funchess' potential was high, his results were underwhelming and frustrating to say the least. I don't think at the end of the year it will necessarily be that big of a downgrade from his last year's performance.

What factual errors were

What factual errors were there in Three and Out? Honest question, I don't remember hearing about anything like that.

Sounds like he's got a great

Sounds like he's got a great mindset going into the season. I'm impressed and excited to see what he can do. The players know they have to work to get Michigan back where it should, and it sounds like they're buying in so far. No distractions, just work

I seriously don't get the

I seriously don't get the hate.

Cmon guys. It's a black jersey with red numbers. It's not like the zubaz nonsense from the NCAA tourney a couple years back.

Also to those freaking out about the "fishnet" pattern, i've seen these and the UM version in person, and you literally cannot tell if you're more than 5 feet away from it. It's a functional fabric weave designed to NOT tear and stretch like the stuff adidas used to have. Seriously, its way better. And unless you're lining up across from them on the field, you won't be able to tell it's there.

But that's apples and oranges

But that's apples and oranges though, since the Foamposites and Retro J's are exclusive, that's what makes them cool and desirable. A better comparison would be a Lebron or KD vs. a Hyperdunk, I'm pretty sure I know what they'd rather have.

That being said, the exclusivity of the Jordan brand is gonna be pretty cool and give us some good exposure.

And I'll also say Nike is a heck of a lot better at marketing their athletes/universities, hence why they sell a lot more.

We'll see when the crop of young guys come up though, I think UA and adidas have both done a good job signing young up and coming talent.

This is the case and how

This is the case and how these contracts work. Again, it will be easier to analyze this once the details come out. Nike does sell better here in the US, that's a given.

But to your point of the kids wanting KD's and Kobe's and such, that's becuase of the name attached to it. Kids want the Lebron's because they're Lebron's, not Nike's. This is part of the reason why adidas chose to let go of the NBA contract. People don't buy Kevin Durant jerseys because they love adidas, they do it because they love Kevin Durant.

Similarly, (outside of the <.05% of the fan base that posts on here) people don't buy Michigan apparel because they love Nike or adidas, they do it because they love Michigan. These deals are far more valuable to the apparel companies than the schools, you'd be naiive to think otherwise.

Now I'm not saying I don't expect to see a spike in apparel sales, I totally do and I think the fanbase as a whole is ready to move on from the DB/RR/Hoke era, and the Nike contract ushers in a fresh start. Will it make up for the money we left on the table with adidas? I HIGHLY doubt that, but it remains to be seen.

The thing that scares me is that it's a 12 year deal. That's a long time. A lot can change in 12 years. 12 years ago Under Armour was just gaining momentum, and still was only making baselayer/compression gear. Look where they are now. Just something to think about.

Are you really trying to say

Are you really trying to say that fans will go to more games when the team is in a bad stretch just because there's a swoosh on the uniforms? Like I get some of the arguments on here but come on now, that's a massive stretch.

Agreed, I'm going with blue.

Agreed, I'm going with blue. White is minimally acceptable, and only on the road.
