GRII is not going to be an out of this worls superstar. He pretty much is what he is right now. He lacks explosive penetrating skills ... his dribble drive and ability to create is what is killing him. Awareness is just not there either. Honestly, he just appears to play very lazy unless their is an dunk to go up and grab.
Next year, GRII will not be the 'go to guy' even if stauskas and mcgary leave. It will be Lavert with Walton 2nd. This guy doesnt watch our games, only reads talking head opinions and regurgitates them.
Lavert is the one who is going to be a star, and i believe walton will eventually get close to it also. Remember, Lavert is still a very young sophomore. He will take another exponential jump going into next year. his basketball IQ is unbelieveable.
My opinion of Irvin is still up in the air. I really think he can make the stauskas jump, but need to see more toughness and penetrating skills out of him.

Not sure what makes up ORating, but how in the hell is 41.7% and 34.7% translate to a good ORating?
Basically, if your highest volume shooter is shooting the above, you better have a seriously great defense and great rebounding team, or your under .500
|3 days 4 hours ago||Gary Harris is a high volume,||
Gary Harris is a high volume, low efficient player. No way does he deserve POY. IMO, he should not even be mentioned. One person above nailed it on the head... The guy is hitting 41.7% from the field and 34.7% from 3's. How in the hell does that get you player of the year unless your Dikembe Mutumbo defensively?
If Gary Harris got player of the year, it is a complete travesty. Payne is way more important to that team than Gary Harris.
* ADD * and i would pay to punch Valentine between those split teeth. Wannabee trash talking thug. There, my anger is out for the day. Back to work :)

It IS hers to control. IMO, the fans dissing her are either not parents themselves, or are 5 years old and should be playing with their dump truck instead of posting on her.
Look, #1, no one on here knows the ENTIRE story. There obviously is data she knows that no one on here knows. Maybe he got into trouble when at MSU, maybe he has a 'bad' friend(s) there, maybe like above stated, athletes there dont have to play school.
Bottom line, SHE is watching out for her son and attempting to make a good, solid choice for his future.
If Malik wanted to go to UM, OSU or FSU, she would sign. There is obviously a BIG negative reason why she does not want him to go to MSU.
IMO, good for her for doing what she is doing. If Malik was old enough, he could make a bad choice on his own. Thank goodness for the law that makes mature, caring people stop you from making bad choices until your old enough to fail on your own.

What coaching staff gets credit for our tackles?
Pretty much recruited by one coaching staff, 75% coached up by the other coaching staff.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Behind the offensive line we||
Behind the offensive line we will have, Deveon Smith is by far the better option. Green needs to improve tremendously. For how big he is, and the trunks of his legs, he goes down like Justin Fargas.
He needs to lay the wood, not go down on first contact.
Deveon Smith probably is what he is. Definitely a lower ceiling type guy, but the kid leaves it on the field. He definitely can break tackles and truck a few defenders. He has pretty good accelleration but just lacks the top end speed.
FWIW, i never cared much for Green's high school footage. Never saw why he was a 5*.
And no, Green did not steal by grandmas milk - nothing against him. Just laying it on the table.
What i personally am excited to see is Drake Johnson, if back healthy. Talk had him as the clear #2 RB and possible #1 RB before his injury. Hope he is back healthy. I would really like to see what he can do.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Too bad. Losing out on Damon||
Too bad. Losing out on Damon Webb was worse, but i did think McDowell was the #2 recruit based purely on potential. Cannot deny the kids frame - with proper technique and a lot of work, this kid could be dynomite.
Since he is going elsewhere, lets just hope he continues to play too upright, and gets crushed by our tackles who use proper leverage.
I definitely like Lawrence Marshall 'right now' as a prospect - but man, McDowell's ceiling is just so, so high.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||You are correct in what you||
You are correct in what you have said IMO. GRIII definitley should come back. No way he sticks with the tools he possesses right now. Matter of fact, im not seeing the improvement from him like i thought i wouild.
McGary and Stauskas definitely have the tools to stick in the league.
FWIW, i actually though Hardaway would be a better pro than a college player. He is doing pretty well for himself right now. Burke is doing well, with his only severe weakness being 2 pt shooting. He really needs to pick that up. WIth young talent getting more experience around him in Utah, and with a high draft pick they will get, he should get even more help.

The game is AT MSU.
Knowing the above, who would you think should blow who out?
Bielien is finding a way to win with less incoming talented players on the floor YET AGAIN.

And who do you believe is better?
Drake may be, but unfortunately we never got a chance to see what the coahces were raving about. Derrick Green? Hell no. Smith? Possibly. Ends there.
So arguably Smith, maybe Drake. Thats it.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||What game were you watching?||
What game were you watching? You say Jones was unable to "....make them miss, or run them over......"
Jones had one of the best jukes i have seen in an all-star game, and then it took about 8 guys to tackle him, as he showed excellent strength and determination in gaining about 3/4 extra yards.
Also, practice reports were fairly glowing, so it was not simply an 8/9 touch evaluation.
IMO, the coaches should go after Jones/Malik, and if they miss, move on. Jones would possibly be the best RB we have immediately when he steps on campus.

Jones very well may become the best RB on Michigan's roster day 1. I am really high on him.

Some of these services are losing subscribers and are throwing crap out there to make some bank. Its embarrassing. Hope 247 does not go here.
He is going to OSU. Nothing to see here. I mean, seriously, just read the headline of the scout article - is that professional? I would be embarrassed to write that garbage.
Webb and Trieu (sp?) are good and need to go elsewhere.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||No he didn't. DId you even||
No he didn't. DId you even watch the game. Never in a game or on film did i see anything that told me Derrick Green is a 5* RB. Smith was and is the better back.
|12 weeks 2 days ago||Taylor did not get first team||
Taylor did not get first team simply because of how horrible the OL unit was and the fact our offense could not run the ball a lick.
But to say he was worse than last year - not even close to the truth. He was at minimum the same level, and i believe moderately better. I believe he is better than Jake Long.
Now, Ryan Shazier is one of the most overhyped, overrated buckeye LB i have seen in quite some time. I just don't get this. The kid has some wheels, but he commonly overpursues, puts himself out of position, and just IMO is not a strong 'wrap up' guy. Matter of fact, the Buckeye defense as a whole was pretty bad this year IMO.
As much as a cant stand sparty, i really like Max. Think he is a very, very good LB. Worlds better than Shazier.

Dont know if it was noticed/mentioned, but did anyone take a look at Hardaway's last game? :)
|13 weeks 2 days ago||Blake has been very up and||
Blake has been very up and down. He makes some great plays ala Marlin Jackson/Leon Hall, but then turns around and gets toasted a few plays later.
Many people will have a perception of Blake being elite because of the INT's, and he is solid indeed, but not elite. He could become elite - he has 2 years left. But in no way is he deserving of the #2 jersey right now.
I do have to say that he at the very least met my expectations (probably slightly exceeded) based on the year he had directly coming off the injury he recovered from. I think he very well may reach that 'elite' status next year. We will have to wait and see.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Smith is the perfect RB to||
Smith is the perfect RB to run behind the offensive line we had and will have next year. Green would have been better running behind what we used to have.
I think eventually we will have a 1-2 punch of Harris and Smith - possibly both on the field at the same time. Our OL should be back to normal by that time also.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||One of the WR's we are||
One of the WR's we are bringing in this year is greatly overrated IMO. However, another is criminally underrated. I think one may have a chance to play right away, but with Darboh coming back from injury, there probably is not huge playing time available.
I thought Chesson was VERY good this year. He exceeded every expectation i ever had of him. Great blocker, very hard to bring down. My perception of him was completely opposite - Speed guy that was easy to arm tackle. And Darboh was ahead of him, so IMO we have 2 young studs to go along with Funchess. Throw Butt out there and we have some HUGE targets next year. We are going to need them because our OLine will be pretty bad yet again.
And fergodsakes, PLEASE start Smith at RB next year! He is heads and shoulders better than Green.
|15 weeks 4 days ago||This is indeed a strange OL||
This is indeed a strange OL year. We have arguably the best pair of Tackles Michigan has ever had. We have the worst interior Michigan has ever had. It still tranlates into the worst line Michigan has ever had (your only as good as your weakest link).
I always want to blame our OL woes on youth - and to be honest, it is a huge part of the problem. But then i think, Harbaugh went to Stanford, which had WAY less to work with than what we have here at Michigan, and turned that OL into a jaugernaught (sp?) overnight.
Fitz is a very, very good running back. He, and no one else, can find any holes. Akron and Uconn DL caved in and destroyed our interior line.
One thing that is grossly overlooked is how good Devin Gardner is. Yesterday i looked up Michigan's historical passing records (per game and by season and by career) and Gardner was very high on all the lists (including first in passing yards in a game) and he hasnt even started for an entire season (yet). To take such a beating, have 3 guys in your face every play, and still put up the production he does is absolutely amazing. With even an average line Gardner has half the INT's and about 8 more TD's.
Point blank, without Gardner this year (if Morris or anyone else had to start) this team isnt .500
This interior OL absolutely stinks, and the coaching decisions have been HIGHLY questionable. I still havent forgiven Hoke for his decision last year vs. Nebraska. And he keeps piling on.
Love the guy - but Michigan is bigger than one person.
|18 weeks 2 days ago||Ignore the rankings folks.||
Ignore the rankings folks. Been saying this for a while. Canteen is our top receiver taken last few years. Kids going to be a star.
FWIW, his route running is better than another local who i thought the world of .... Arnett. Arnett was a VERY tough cover. Not sure what is going on with him at MSU, but i think it may have more to do with him than anything else, if you know what i mean.
|24 weeks 6 days ago||Hmmmmm||
some people just do not see the big picture. Some just dont get it. here it is in a nutshell.
1) Our interior OLine is horrible. Point blank. There a year away from being average, assuming natural progression. Hopefully that at minimum happens because we lose by far the 2 best on the Oline next year. However, i did expect this unit to struggle, just not this bad.
2) Gardner is much, much beter than he used to be. He definitely has progressed from where he was in high school. I questioned if he would ever start for us when we recruited him. Im proud of how he progressed to be honest. HOWEVER, he still makes some very mistakes like he did in high school, and i guess i should expect that. He has always had some positive qualities (ice viens, strong runner, great leadership, good arm, long strides) but his decision making at times is extremely questionable and he continues to carry the ball like a loaf of break. Nontheless, i dont blame this game on him one bit for reasons which would explode this paragraph another 3 so i wont start. WIthout him, were toast.
3. Fitz is leaps and bounds MUCH better than anyone else. Derrick Green is extremely overrated, so just admit it to your kool aid eyes now, and save yourself the 'next year' greif for the next 3 years. I will say this though, Harris is definitely the real deal - hopefully next year Drake comes back strong, otherwise Smith is probably our best back. But i feel sooo bad for Fitz running behind this interior line.
4. Someone needs to help me in regards to the D-Line. I have no clue. I expected SOOOO much more from it. I really don't know where to start. I expected the line overall, with the constant substitution and fresh body's of high quality players to absolutely dominate Akrons line, expecially late in the game. I won't even pretend to know why this unit has performed so bad, i honestly do not know. Need help on this one, but nonetheless, its been very underwhelming.
5. Punting. Holy crap, i thought this guy was supposed to be as good a punter as Hagerup. Wile has been horrible.
Horrible game, but soo relieved we won. But in regards to a few things, we wont make it to double digit regular season wins. 8/9 wins is where this team is at.

|26 weeks 2 days ago||I am currently at work, so||
I am currently at work, so cannot allocate resources to creating a list at the moment, but i will eventually compose one. I absolutely disagree with you though, Saginaw definitely has GR beat (with only 1/3 the population also) as far as prospects. Saginaw has produced some big, big time prospects in both basketball and football. Saginaw High and Saginaw Arthur Hill have produced and continue to produce unbelievable talent year in and year out. Saginaw Heritage maybe a recruit once every 10 years - they are not much of a factor.
|26 weeks 2 days ago||IMO, i do consider him an||
IMO, i do consider him an extremely important get.
Of course Michigan is going to have a great class without him, but he would still be a top 5 guy in their class. He is an absolutely stud at CB, WR and RB, and will easily be the top player in the state.
|26 weeks 2 days ago||Are you kidding me? Saginaw||
Are you kidding me? Saginaw indeed is a fertile recruting ground - football and basketball. And within 15 minutes you have Midland and Bay City which chip in decent kid every other year, but Saginaw arguably is the #2 city in our state to pluck athletes out of.
won't even begin to list everyone in football/basketball the last couple decades from here, it would be very lengthy.
But yeah, Saginaw is indeed a stud breeding ground for athletes.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||The thing is Ace, many people||
The thing is Ace, many people either were too young to remember, or not born yet, and vehemently think Braylon is by far the best WR in Michigan football history. Everyone believes the newest, most recent in memory athlete is better than the guy 20, 50 .... years ago.
I don't know how many arguments with fellow Michgian fans i have had attempting to state how much better AC was than Edwards, Howard etc...
The irony of this is, i would argue with anyone that Wheatley was also the best RB ever at Michigan, and a 130 year old man would take my above position, arguing how naive i was that Wheatley was not even close to Willie Heston .... and he would be right.
