I've got relatives in Livonia so I stay at the Marriott there -- it's way cheaper than anything in A2 or remotely close to A2. Then it takes 20 minutes to drive down and I park in one of the lots on Main Street and walk the 15+ minutes to the stadium. On the way out of town, you're already close to the expressway so traffic isn't much of an issue. Besides if you want to walk around campus and the town after the game, you can moot the traffic issue that way. The Livonia Marriott is a standard Marriott, but it does have a nice restaurant and it's attached to a small mall that's got a couple more restaurants and an M Den if you need some last minute paraphernalia.

For those not familiar with the area, RFD Washington is about a half block from the Gallery Place Metro.

One of my favorite experiences at an MLB ballpark involves Moby Benedict -- sort of. It was 1972 and I decided to go to Wrigley Field by myself -- my then wife was working on a Saturday afternoon. Since I was alone, getting bleacher seats didn't seem like a wise idea -- going to the bathroom or getting something to eat meant potentially losing your seat. Thus, I bought a reserved seat that turned out to be in the first row behind the first base bullpen. I was early, and the area around my seats was filled with kids who were yelling, "Are you going to play today" at former Michigan infielder Ted Sizemore. I decide to shout out, "Hey, Teddy, what do you think of Moby Benedict?" Sizemore looked into the stands; pointed at me; I nodded, and Sizemore came over and talked with me about Michigan and Michigan baseball for about 20 minutes.

I'll throw another name out: Florida. I know a Florida alum who has ties to the athletic department. He indicated that they feel that they're at a disadvantage in the SEC because of, well should we say, shady practices and have quietly explored options. Florida's academic reputation is on the rise. A nice little dig at the SEC would be to bring in Florida and Vandy. The latter is N'western in football, but a legit basketball contender.

I'm told that the campus is about a mile from the Metro and it may not be something you want to walk to at Midnight. Also Metro on the weekends is prone to very long waits.

I recognize that most of us never saw a Michigan game before Bo's arrival, but so far the only game mentioned pre-Bo is the Snow Bowl game. If I remember correctly, Michigan won a few National Championships before Bo; won some Rose Bowls along the way; had a Heisman Trophy winner named Harmon; and a quarterback named Friedman who would have won at least one Heisman if the award existed when he played. I've gotta believe there were at least a couple of games that warrant inclusion -- recency bias be damned.

As for baseball, Richard's been mostly an innings eater -- not that that's terrible in the big picture of things. He's been very effective this year at Triple-A, but his weakness -- an inability to miss bats -- showed. While he's demonstrating great control, he's striking out less than five batters per nine innings.

Because coming out of high school, Henson had decided to play football first. Otherwise, he would have gone in the first round of the baseball draft. The Yankees took a flyer on Henson in the third, mostly because they had the money and could afford to throw it a part-time player on the chance, he would decide to play baseball. They never had a chance the first time around to get him to skip football. Only after he was established as a football player, did Steinbrenner throw the 18 million dollar contract at Henson. He still had great potential, but after adjusting for inflation, that's one of the biggest contracts given to a minor league player.

When I got the link, it was for an autographed copy, rather than two copies, as I had ordered. While I'd love to get Brian's autograph, I actually need the second copy. In any event, I did fill out the form, but if there's a way to make sure I get two copies, that would be great.

B1G went 5-0 on Friday and three of those wins the B1G team was the lower seeded team. Before the tournament began, one of Baseball America's writers noted the B1G was better than people thought AND his pick for the best chance of a 3 or 4 seed advancing to the Supers was Michigan. BEAT the Cardinals and Remember the Burke Block!

Baseball America calls Bradley the worst 2 seed in the tourney. Jim Shonerd of BA when asked which lower seeded team has the best chance of getting to the Super Regionals picked Michigan. He noted Bradley simply isn't very good and that while Louisville is very good, he loves Adcock, the Michigan hitting and thinks Michigan could emerge.

Regional sites have been announced. Closest are Nashville, Louisville, and Springfield, Missouri. Illinois is also hosting, but I'm guessing they don't put two teams from the same conference in the same regional.
