Beat OSU! Buckeyes blow a 4-0 ninth inning lead over Iowa. Game is at about 9 tonight!

Couldn't they get just as much attention playing in the Meadowlands? Or, are they worried that the extra seats would all be empty?
|1 day 23 hours ago||According to Baseball||
According to Baseball America, Michigan is one of the last four in, as is OSU. It would behoove Michigan to win at least one game this weekend.

Good thing I looked at all the posts, as I was going to post: God saves and Espo scores on the rebound.

Game 1 of the weekend goes to Michigan, 1-0, over the Illini.
|1 week 8 hours ago||FWIW, Baseball America not||
FWIW, Baseball America not only still has Michigan in the field of 64, it's still giving Michigan a two seed in a regional. Obviously, it would behoove Michigan to win at least two at Illinois this weekend and to at least make a run in the B1G Tourney, but all is not lost. (I'd rather have a five game losing streak over the last two weeks than a five game losing streak over the next two weeks.)

Baseball America updated its projected field of 64 a little while ago. Michigan is a two seed in Nashville along with one seed Vanderbilt, three seed Virginia, and four seed Kent State. Interestingly, last year's NCAA final was Virginia beating Vandy. Four B1G teams are in the field: Michigan, Minnesota (3), Sparty(2) and Maryland (3). The Terps are among the last four in.

Actually Baseball America does project the field of 64 and the regionals and two weeks ago, Michigan was hosting a regional in Ann Arbor. I didn't check last week. They usually post the field of 64 on Wednesday.

Bakich certainly has a good track record. He took a Maryland program that was on the verge of being dropped and turned it into a respectable program. The Terp team that almost beat Virginia in the Super Regionals in 2014 was basically composed of all of his recruits.

One thing not noted already is that 10 days ago, Stripling was headed to Triple-A. I'm pretty sure he hadn't pitched a ton of innings coming into the game, and Roberts was probably hoping to get six innings out of him. He went longer in deference to the no-no, but at the first sign of trouble, he was coming out.

One difference here is that Mullin doesn't have the option of staying and playing at Columbia. Also I think Beilein, while criticizing the rule that permits this, isn't about to be the only coach in America who fails to take advantage of the rule.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||FWIW, I know a former Florida||
FWIW, I know a former Florida football player who's still an active alum. We haven't discussed this, but I do know that the Gator nation is getting frustrated being a relatively clean program in the SEC.

Vandy and Wichita State in. Uggh.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||I'm not happy with Beilein's||
I'm not happy with Beilein's coaching this year, but he gets a little bit of pass when you consider his best player and best leader were essentially out all year. That said, if I were Warde Manuel, I'd be exploring options. I'm also a little concerned about who might be next. There's no Jim Harbaugh waiting in the wings to save his alma mater (unless he wants to coach two sports). It would be great to get a Brad Stevens, but what's the odds he'd take the job????

I haven't been watching, but I'm curious if they used the 1-3-1 with Robinson out front that worked well against Iowa.

Irvin and Walton are supposed to be the guys who step forward when games are on the line. They do step forward, but usually that means a brick is being laid.

I noticed he'd had a god awful first half. Figured he would not do the same this half.

Part of the problem is the back-to-back schedule. If the goal is to beat N'western, the guys like Dakich shouldn't see the court, at least much. However, if the goal is, for example, to beat Indiana tomorrow, you've got to rest your best players a little or they'll be of little use in the next game.

I think a win of N'western and Indiana would get us in although perhaps that would be a play-in bid.

We'd really be singing Rudy's praises if Johnny Orr had been able to recruit anyone to support him. Heck, Michigan used Bird Carter, all 6-1 of him, at pivot in order to let Rudy play his natural position of forward.
BTW, not to diminish Rudy's stature, but I've always questioned how rebounding stats were compiled back in the day. I covered the game for the Daily in which he broke Buntin's record, and decided to count every time Rudy touched the ball after a missed shot. I had fewer touches than the number of rebounds with which he was credited.

I follow college football pretty closely and write about baseball. This was the first I heard about these "rumors". As I read the story, I thought about all the players over the years that arguably did a lot less, but wound up kicked off their teams or at least suspended. At the risk of adding 2+2 and getting five, this story makes it easy to disbelieve his version of the HGH "rumors".

Betancourt was a regular on the PGA tour from 2009-12, but has played on the tour only sporadically the past couple of years. He has one career win and six top 10 finishes. He's from the Bay area, so it's possible he and Harbaugh know each other from his time at Stanford and with the 49ers.
