“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

hiring Narduzzi for HC if Hoke is let go?

|37 weeks 3 days ago||BO used to get fired||
up and throw stuff. Nothing wrong with that. They make fun of Kelly because he is a rival head coach and it does look funny. Nobody laughs at results though.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||Not overly impressed with DB||
Dominoes was an awful restaurant until he left. It made me leery of him when he got the AD job. I'm sure others know more about him than I do. But after watching BH and staff I am not sure DB has the answers to fix this mess.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||Totally agree||
Touissant should be benched for not picking up blocks and Lewan for crappy behavior and poor play last week vs MSU. No accountability makes things worse.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||We are in a serious funk (no pun intended)||
Like oklahoma before stoops, and USC before carrol, Texas before brown. Large programs that lose their way. The only real solution is to get a top notch coach.
RR couldn't get it done on either side of the ball against the better teams, and this years team is very similar. Denard was an explosive player, but we couldn't throw or rush with any consistency.
Hoke's teams look the same as RR. Not very physical on the line of scrimmage and unable to run the ball. We are better at defense under Hoke, but still struggle at key times to make plays. We haven't had a legitimate pass rush in forever, even our blitzes don't get to the QB in time.
I also think it has nothing to do with style of play (west coast, spread etc...) Saban plays an extremely boring style of play, but they dominate. His defense is lights out and the offense is tough to stop because they have a good running game with an opportunistic passing attack.
Teams take on the personality of their coaches. Brady seems to willing to accept mediocrity and that is where we are finding ourselves. I have not seen a practice so I cannot make a comment on what is happening there. However, whatever they are doing is not working.
This makes me believe that BH is in over his head and is not the guy. The question is, do you give him another year in which will stabilize the recruiting for a 4 year stint, or do you cut your losses and move on? Also, who is out there that would be the answer?
|38 weeks 2 days ago||Soft||
I agree with the above posters mentioning how soft the team is. Firing coordinators won't fix this. It is a reflexion of the head coach. I like Hoke, but I don't know if he can turn this area around. Playing physically has nothing to do with scheme or talent, it is a mindset, an attitude. The best teams in football are the best teams at the line of scrimmage. All the skill guys in the world cannot make up for poor line play.
I don't seek BH firing anyone this year, and next year will be a blowup year one way or another.
|38 weeks 2 days ago||I am not yet sold on the||
lack of talent argument. They are not playing like a talented group. That may be more on the coaches not putting them in a position to succeed.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Yes.||
We need to Rebound well on the defensive end so they cannot set up the press. If we do that and not get caught into playing at their pace we will be fine.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Man the Ref's need to clean things up.||
In MSU game they were literally grabbing the ballhandlers arms as they drove by. Also, the picks are more like O Linemen engaging rather than a pick. It sure makes for some ugly basketball when the ref's ignore these things and others.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||How many OSU games||
has desmond been in the booth for? Griese would be a better comparison, but as you know, he is very steady and impartial as you will get as an announcer.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Have to disagree with you on this.||
I wouldn't say that Bellomy was unprepared as much as I would say he was not capable of being better at this point in his career. This opens up another issue, on why DG wasn't considered an option in the Neb. game, especially after Bellomy's early struggles.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||I like the idea||
If I remember correctly, UCLA was penalized a timeout for the uniform infraction and USC ignored one of their timeouts in the first half. Is that rule still in place?
|1 year 40 weeks ago||I don't think he was unprepared||
I think that Denard struggles in a more robust passing attack. That forces the play calling. We must rush Denard as often as possible, because he is like Barry Sanders. He will get stuffed 12 times but the next one is a TD. That is the good and bad of DR.
|1 year 40 weeks ago||The jury is still out on Borges||
Denards skill set forces us to play the style we do. We are not a proficient passing team, we turn the ball over way too much when we throw the ball. MSU's defense is to pressure the run with 8 and 9 man fronts. Our offense (this year) plays right into that. That is why this game was destined to be close. Teams that are able to force us to pass will give us trouble.
I hope Shane Morris is truly as good as his rating. If he is, then we will be very good in two years. That is when we will see how good Borges really is or isn't .
|1 year 42 weeks ago||Goodwin came back in the game||
Goodwin came back in the Tex./ WVU game to make a TD catch. He had the ahem "wind" knocked out of him. He dropped the ball and landed funny like Golston.
|1 year 42 weeks ago||I remember that.||
I think Dantonio was the D coach for Reynolds at the time. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
|1 year 44 weeks ago||I agree for the most part. However,||
In this game the referees just stopped a NE drive and aided a Ravens drive. Momentum has now changed.
|1 year 44 weeks ago||No.||
I said that Denard's impact on the field is like his. Nice reach though.
|1 year 44 weeks ago||They seem to be making up||
calls as they go. This game has been poorly officiated. The ref's seem to be intimidated by the home team or something.
|1 year 44 weeks ago||I hate to say this:||
But I believe that Denard is our Michael Vick. He is a great person and he has some explosive plays at times. However, he is very poor in the pocket and struggles to correctly read the defense. This makes it nearly impossible to gameplan. If the OC thinks that he will get nothing out of the passing game what is he to do? Teams load the box and force DR to throw. It takes away the rest of the run game. Denard will have moments of greatness, but we will never be a consistent threat against the better teams while he is our QB.
|1 year 44 weeks ago||My thoughts about Michigan are||
a bit more optimistic after watching a few weekends of football. MSU plays a hardnose style of play, but can be beaten by a team that stands up to them physically and shuts their running game down. Denard should be good enough for a gamebreaking play to push us over the top. They were outplayed quite a bit at home against BSU and ND thumped them at home as well.
ND is playing with an unproven QB that is weak in passing (been there ...). If we shut down the run and force him to throw we should be in good shape. He will target his TE a lot in this game. We know all of our weaknesses, but we still have enough strengths to win these two games.
|1 year 45 weeks ago||Also, BIG leadership needs to get||
involved. Delaney and co. need to step to the plate and get the playing field even. They either don't think it is a problem or don't care, which is demonstrated by there silence. Someone needs to bring up the oversigning and grey shirt problems or it will never change.
|1 year 45 weeks ago||Three areas stick out to me.||
First, I think as many, that teams need to do a better job with better coaching staffs. Secondly, the bowl schedule setup for the big teams puts us at many disadvantages. Our teams seem to always be lower seeded (our #4 team vs SEC #3 team etc..). And last of all, I think all BIG teams need to drop ND off their schedules, they need us, we don't need them.
|1 year 46 weeks ago||Everything will look better||
We will not be physically overmatched like against Bama. However, there will be some missed assignments, poor angles and technique problems. The key to the rest of the season is if DR can develop a comfort level in the passing game and a better feel of when to scramble.
On a side note, I live in South Carolina and need to know, what is the best way to pick up the game on radio? I am not familiar with sirius or other pay services.
Thanks and Go Blue,
|1 year 46 weeks ago||The best way to shut||
them up is to beat them this year.
|1 year 46 weeks ago||No.||
This Alabama team is tough and very good on the line of scrimmage. Their offense is very limited and their defense has yet to play a good team that passes the ball effectively. I think that the Miami teams we played in the 80's, the FSU team of early 90's and several OSU teams were better. I think the reason this question is asked is how they dominated us. That was because they were better, and that we have serious issues all across the board on offense and defense.
I love Denard and what he does for this team, but he struggles greatly in the passing game. Whether it is reading the D or just knowing when to scramble. He seems to lack the necessary intuition on when to leave or move within the pocket. Our running game is very average due to the lack of a dominating Oline and or great RB. Our Dline is 2 years away, our LB's are 1 year away and our DB's are 2 years away. JMHO
We just have to weather another year or so before we are back to where we want to be. I love how BH is recruiting and addressing the team issues.
|3 years 42 weeks ago||As far as the OP goes||
I think the problem goes back a bit further with Donovan Mcnabb running all over us. I think UGA is having the same problems and trend as we speak. It seems that teams struggle on Defense and OL when they don't hit in practices. I cannot remember the exact moment when Lloyd went this route, but it seems as if our "D" began struggling without the hitting. UGA like us went this route to avoid injuries, and for the first time in quite a while seem to really struggle on defense with tackling etc. JMO.
