Ono’s Tweet—plus omission of Manuel’s name in Jim’s—says everything.  Between that and all the NIL handwringing Warde might be dead man walking.

I hope Gemon and Tom Mars sue Tuck for $95MM

As someone who knew Bobby…

As someone who knew Bobby pretty well at UofM, would love to see him part of the program—either as HC or part of staff.  He has infectious personality and was beloved throughout his run in pro ball.

Echo all the same sentiments…

Echo all the same sentiments: gritty win, a lot of lessons to be applied moving forward—especially for defense around misdirection and handling QBs that can pass and run.

If I’m Harbaugh or Gattis today I’m planning out how to spend the bye week transitioning McCarthy to start soon.  If we are playing by “What are you doing to beat Ohio St today?” mantra you have to know Cade can’t do it unless the entire team plays nearly perfectly around him.  And I think the D would benefit by playing more against JJ as #1 because they would have to account for the RPO threat in almost every snap.

Hoping Devin can get spot on the coaching staff in next year or two.

Welcome to the internet…

Welcome to the internet…

While I understand the concern/frustration around the non-existent passing attack, I’m choosing to subscribe to glass half-full perspective.  We dominated one MAC and one PAC-12 team by simply running the ball down their throats and playing solid defense.  If only to boost morale and establish a mindset, that has value.  Now if it stops working and we can’t adjust down the line, then everyone’s concerns become valid.

Let’s also not lose sight of fact that Harbaugh: (a) went for it on 4th and Goal at 1; and (b) called fake punt on our own side of the field.  He showed some commitment and balls there. I also wondered about the decision to let Moody attempt a long FG, but I think that was also to send a signal of confidence.  Not nominating anyone for coach of the year, but look at the performance—and coaching—all in balance.

I loved Coach Beilein and…

I loved Coach Beilein and his staffs at UM, but cannot say enough about Juwan and his staff thus far.  I might be even more impressed than Dan Dakich.

Frustrated as I am I don’t…

Frustrated as I am I don’t think it’s fair to lay this all on Gattis.  The problems on team at this point seem to be apparent on both sides of the ball in terms of lack of discipline, attention to detail, etc.

If we can’t get a sure-fire big name to replace Harbaugh, what about elevating Gattis to HC? He’s young, energetic, has shown to be good recruiter, and has apprenticed under Saban, Franklin, and Harbaugh.  Remember Dabo was WR coach under Bowden at Clemson, who was ousted after perpetual disappointment.

Enough with Harbaugh Era. …

Enough with Harbaugh Era.  At a minimum I expected that we would be a disciplined team that would maximize our talent.  Ceiling is clear, time for change.

I’d advocate for elevating Gattis to HC or looking for big name outside the program.  While Offense still is not perfect, my gut tells me Gattis could be dynamic HC.  I’d rather take the risk than continue to be disappointed annually.

As KC Native and Chiefs fan…

As KC Native and Chiefs fan surprised and ecstatic to see Danna’s success.  He’s consistently been getting talked up by coaches and analysts who follow team.  Saw 48% of D snaps yesterday and would expect even more next week.

Also Taco Charlton was finally on active roster for Chiefs and got some run after Frank Clark left due to illness.  27% of defense snaps and first sack with the champs.  Hopefully he is trending upward as well as he fits Spags scheme.

Eisley rumor really…

Retaining Sanderson big win.  Eisley rumor really interesting.  Detroit roots, NBA pedigree.  Could be fantastic lead for backcourt development.

Well, let’s hope that:

1…

Well, let’s hope that:

1. Everybody comes back (save of course Matthews) with bitter taste

2. A go-to shooter emerges—either Poole finally matures, or Nunez, Wilson, Bajema show consistent range.

3. Year 2 jump for Dejulius, Castleton, Johns provides depth.

Since the rise of our defense has brought about regression in offense do we adjust prioritization?

He’s a take for me. …

He’s a take for me.  Produced under Gattis, injury insurance for Tarik Black, potential RS oppty for another WR.

A self-reported U of C alum…

A self-reported U of C alum and the best you can do with that superior education is troll UM message boards?  And I thought we were the losers...

I share everyone’s…

I share everyone’s heartbreak and disappointment—mistakes were made, lessons to be learned.  I described it to my wife as “soulcrushing” given the hope I carried into the game. We openly mock how our rivals obsess about us, but their recent record indicates they have had the last laugh. Expect Harbaugh to look hard at that—especially with respect to The Game.

I also think yesterday’s game opens a broader question for UM Leadership and the fanbase: what do we want to be in today’s NCAA: the Leaders or Best?  Between our admission standards and our unwillingness to participate in the underbelly of recruiting (aka bag men), can we realistically compete year in and out with the SEC and tOSU for football championships?  Similar for Beilein and basketball.

I’m incredibly proud of what Michigan stands for in terms of the quality of student athletes we accept and develop, but it begs the question across all our programs: do we change our moral compass or our expectations for success?

I hate James Franklin with…

I hate James Franklin with every ounce of my being.  He has surpassed Meyer and Dantonio in that regard—which should tell you a lot.  But at this point to call him lucky or try to disrespect what they have done is merely an exercise in trying to make ourselves feel better.  This is not a zero sum game—Franklin and Harbaugh can be good.

We just need some signature wins to convince the general public we’re elite again.  In last 18 mos we have been bridesmaid but never a bride.  If we can finish strong against the gauntlet this year the narrative starts to change.  We just need to show consistent killer instinct and relentless focus.

Excited for Giles--and the…

Excited for Giles--and the athleticism he and Eric Gray will bring.

Here's hoping Jim and Pep are watching Andy Reid at work in NFL.  While they may not have his top-end speed, Tyreek Hill has a similar frame and elusive style that are game breaking.  Chris Evans has similar skills, but lacks the low center of gravity that helps successfully break more arm tackles.

Harbaughs UniteSo rule Harbaughs Unite

So rule precludes NCAA Satellite Camps. What if Jim works through his NFL connections to host prep camps in the vein of promoting better fundamentals--beginning with the Ravens?

Would have never expected Would have never expected this is a million years--thought we would adjust much better at half. Outcoached to be sure, but athleticism gap is even more pronounced--especially at LB, DL, and RB. Still can't believe with all the blue chips we have at OL and RB we still can't run effectively.

In the end, it hurts but does not ruin progress in year one. Now need to close in on top athletes in 2016.

I liked him from the get-go

I liked him from the get-go and have grown to like him more-and-more with every passing article or interview with high school coach or  recruit I read.   But, of course my ultimate opinion will also be measured in wins and losses.

In the meantime, a couple related thoughts:

1. I think we all underappreciated Lloyd Carr, myself included.  Is there anything wrong with being the next Lloyd?  I don't think so.  But I think he will be the best of Lloyd with a more aggressive philosophy.

2. He is clearly not going to win the Nobel Prize anytime soon and he's not the most polished public speaker.  But his genuiness comes off and humble; it's quite refreshing compared to most of the egomaniac coaches in NCAA athletics and I think will ingratiate him with fans, press, and recruits.

3. I'm not going to go there with the compare-and-contrasts to the Vest as I agree they are different scenarios and track records.  But let's not underestimate that the programs he was head coach of were not successful before he arrived, successful while he was there, and Ball St. became unsuccessful once again when he left (SDSU is an incomplete).  That could either be (1) an interesting coincidence; or (2) indicative of what he can do.

CBS College Sports

What a depressing set and cast of characters.  RichRod--understandably--couldn't look less excited to be there.  He is kind of hard to hear with his commentary.

Back to the ESPNU coverage...

The Funk

I thought Darrell Funk went out to meet with Pat Flavin?

Very Nice Jake Ryan

Glad to hear that about Jake Ryan, I had not previously seen anything about him impressing in bowl practices, let alone during the regular season.

I'm betting on Richard Ash and Josh Furman to be the other top impact RS players for next year.  I could see quite a few contributing.

Brady Stopped in Columbus

To kick Tressel in the balls before screaming in his pained face "GO BLUE!"

Great Addition

Perfect hire, a Michigan Man who can also teach the art of oversigning from his days at 'Bama.

Pls Kill the Use of GERG2

Nothing good will come of it, plus it's an insult to Mr. Mattison.

I don't have a better nickname suggestion just yet for Greg, but we need to find one that does justice to his prowess.

In Greg's Backyard

It's a short scenic drive for Mattison from Baltimore.  Maybe Ray-Ray can drop him at Blake's place.

Siamese Twins?

Or simply separated at birth?

No, It Doesn't

But neither does 90% of the other conjecture on the boards.  I am simply curious to hear other opinions.

If you don't care then why waste your keystrokes?

Trgs

I think it could be Trgovac too; he has been busy with the playoffs, which might be the reason for the delay. The fact that he and Hoke both have expertise with DL could only be a good thing based on our recent performance (The Hulk excluded).  Besides, I hear Brady is going to be pretty busy anyway.

I am anti Randy Shannon as we all know as soon as he sniffs another HC opportunity he is gone and then we're starting all over again.

If not Trgovac, I would probably prefer Heater or Austin over Bedford.  Or how about a package that includes all three with round-robin scheme calling responsibilities?

And Justice for All

Just Tweet him and ask

Channel 4 News Exclusive

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Arnett

Like Magnus and others have started, I don't want Arnett.  He seems like too much of a prima donna.

Expectations Simplfied

This year, low.  Next year, high.

Da Remix

We should do a remix to "I Am a Real American" for Hokeamania, "I Am a Real Michigan Man."  It should feature a freestyle from none other than Coner himself.

The Answer is Yes--And Also No If he starts defeating our rivals and winning championships, then yes. Anything short of that is a no, RR or Michigan Man.
The Answer is Yes--And Also No If he starts defeating our rivals and winning championships, then yes. Anything short of that is a no, RR or Michigan Man.
My Biggest Concerns for the Game Are as follows: 1. Running out of beer 2. Running out of seven-layer dip 3. GERG has a bad hair day--and forgot to pack a hat 4. Pam Ward is somehow involved with the telecast, even if it's just as key grip 5. We lose the game
Jump to Conclusions

Before we start hailing Dave Brandon as either messiah or clown, how about we wait to see how the outcome plays out.  While I understand the frustration of both factions, it's rare to have this much success in life (turnaround Dominos as CEO, very aggressive already as UM AD) by being a complete idiot.  Besides, he is a Michigan Man.

I'm Not Worried

Harbaugh will flip him back Blue

BTW...

...I was being sarcastic about English as DC

Ron English

I'll take Ron English's defenses back any day.  With that, let's go ahead and throw his name in the ring as the next DC.

Wrap It Up I love Cam and his potential at LB, but he needs to seriously work on his tackling (which, of course, could be said about everyone on our D except Martin and Demens). He too consistently went for the big hit as opposed to actually wrapping up the tackle, leading to unnecessary big plays.
Reese Dismukes...

...Has the white man equivalent of dreads.  Reese, come on down...
