Great pictures...Liked the

Great pictures...Liked the uniforms, liked that dancing......There seemed to be more enthusiam and the crowd seemed to be into it.  Whatever inspires the team!!!  And, that's great that a player had design input!

RR wasn't supported, didn't

RR wasn't supported, didn't get the D-coordinator he wanted for only $10,000 more......And the Hoke hiring was a joke.  Don't know what would lead recruits to believe that this time will be better.....but, your right, you'd think with the money M has been throwing around!

Very good observation, not to

Very good observation, not to mention getting those that the admissions department will take, and be succesful as students at the U.

If M would have coughed up

If M would have coughed up $10k more Casteel (Reference - "3 and out") would have come and RR would still be here, probably winning. Instead of paying $10k more when they should have, they payed millions more for this...uhhhgggg....when will the circus end.

The loss of recruits seems to be less serious of an issue than the right coaches....Arizona managed to land a couple of 2 stars every year and seems ok.....Which is better than Utah's recruiting....hmmmm

The Arizona O and D lines really got pushes and looked great against Oregon...they were motivated and Tough....Chris Allen is their S&C coach...Worked for Barwis at M as his assistant....enough said......

Screens

YES!!!.....Perhaps even as a check off after the RB peels off of his block - I think many of the screen passes from years past were check offs.  Where did this go?

Missing in M's Offensive Attack.....

So…Regarding M’s offence in attacking various D’s…...I'd like to hear someone ask Nussmeier at a press conference about the QB reads in his offence....not just the 1,2,3 progressions, but the checkoff guy (does he exist). I noticed with the Borges O that, not only were receivers not coming back or remaining viable after things fell apart, but there never seemed to be a RB or TE with a blocking assignment peeling off of the block for a quick outlet pass. Even though all they had to do was to turn toward the QB. I'm seeing the same thing with the Nussmeier O - When the QB get's in trouble does the strong side RB or TE have any checkoff assignment.... I never see it, but it is needed with a weak O-Line. I remember Brian Griese was always checking off to a peeling off RB or TE when the long pass wasn't there and pressure came. We really need this as part of the O game plan and I just don't see it any more....why? It looks like the QB's only emergency out is to eat it or throw it away. It's surprising that Borges didn't implement this since in the West Coast O typically after the quarterback makes three reads and if no opportunity is available after three reads, the QB will then check off to a back or tight end. Not that our QB's can make three reads prior to pressure, but should check off as soon as pressure is felt. Ok, rambling enough, but why isn't Nussmeier implementing this?  Or, aren’t the players executing?

Saving Hoke

Hoke is a nice guy, is good at recruiting, and represents M's culture well.

- He can't be allowed to make any game decisions, and must stay off of the fricken football field...wtf

- The O-coordinator must make all clock mgmt. decisions and coordinate with the special teams coach and D-coordinator

- Mattison much be in charge of all major game decisions / orchestration where over-all coordination is required.

- Someone other that Hoke / possibly a combination of Mattison Nusmeier must be in charge of all assistant hiring / firing - Hoke has no balls in this area and doesn't understand anything resembling anything beyond basic high school football coaching so is incapable of making these decisions - I watch Clarkston high fb, the coaching across the board is far superior than what I see at the M games!!!

- Ferringo must be fired!!! The special teams are serviceable, but not "special" - ten man punt coverage only two on the returner.... - wtf....not being able to pooch punt, get inside the 15, etc etc...wtf, wtf, wtf

- Funk must be fired so obvious - wtf!!!

- Wellman must go - Need someone to make them tough and motivated - It's hard to watch the O-line not be able to push inferior D-lineman

- THIS ALL NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!!! Save the season, save the recruits!

- Need someone on the sidelines to get in players face - not clap and pat their butts!

I'm all for keeping Hoke, said the above.....Nice guy, represents the program well, good recruiter, good for the culture....Establishes a good comfortable family atmosphere for the kids and their families.

All coaches from SDSU being fired - Coincidence - I think not!!!

44 - 24 Utes

44 - 24 Utes - And Hoke will be clapping.....I really hope that M will show us their potential, and think that M should win the battles at the lines.  But, based on what I've seen this year (see below), and M's problems with stopping the type of spread that Utah runs I'm not at all optimistic.

M Questions / Issues:

- Overall orchastration of the team - clock mgmt, game decisions, O, D, Spec. teams working together.

- Will the D get sucked into the run-option-read as they frequently do?

- Can the O-line get a team push when needed - some lineman win battles, but still lack that team push?

- Can the O-line form a pocket w/o gaps to provide more time?

- Can Gardner not get "rattled" and make poor decisions?

- Will M put Morris in when / if Morris get's rattled for a series of downs as I believe they should have in teh 2nd Q last Sat.

I really hope to see that all of these many lingering issues are resolved, but not optimistic.

Tough O-Line

Perhaps the O-Line could be sent to Barwis (voluntary of course) to add strength, toughen them up, and motivate them too!!! Couldn't hurt to try and may have great results!  I've seen them get pushed around at times, and not be able to get a push.  Not that Aaron Wellman is necessarily bad at S&C......but couldn't hurt to try something else at least for the O-Line.

Salvage the Weekend!!!

GO LIONS!!!

Oppps Mattison

Been too long since Fball season forgot that it's Mattison, not Madison...uhhhgggg

Madison in Charge

I think that it's great that Madison took charge and fired his D line coach!!!  The D line coach was behind the times and didn't know how to deal with spread offences so the D line was out of sync with the rest of the D.  Masison finally stepped up, took charge, and made the neccessary change to prevent further embarassment.  What was the X D line coaches name again?......Joke, or something like that?

6 Points

6 Points until it didn't matter......Borges should watch K State receivers and how 2 always curl back.

"Bo like passion"

Seemed as if they didn't care......Where is the passion? They need a "Bo type" or "Barwis type" to get them fired up with that "killer instinct"! Along with changing the OC, O Line Coach, perhaps others, and getting a good QB coach of course!....... And, I still question S&C coach given O and D line play and toughness.

Brandon's 2:30 am pickup

Borges just plain didn't care and Hoke was too stupid to do anything about it!  If Hoke cared at all he would have gone up to the press box and choked that fat idiot!  We know that he is too dumb to manage the clock, change plays, or change tempo.

Brandon picked up the fat girl at 2:30 after all of the pretty ones were gone........most of us know that they aren't "keepers"!......chew your arm off and get out of there!......move on!

Even if M hired the best OC in the biz someone who knows what the hell is going on is needed on the side line!  No passion, No drive, No heart!!!  Bo would puke!  Woody would have killed the water boy!!!

GO GREEN

GO WHITE

I'm glad you guys care!!!  Represent our state well!!!

FIRE BORGES SOON

I sure hope that Borges is fired soon ("all I want for Christmas")!!!.......Otherwise, M will not be capable of keeping recruits or recruiting new at skill posistions.  At a pay scale of $2,000 per pound M gets pathetic play calling, abysmal clock management, no counters or contingincies, and no capability to make in game adjustments.......  Don't even have a coach that is willing to play an entire first half.  Perhaps there were 2 1/2 well coached games in the last 3 years which could probably be chalked up to luck.

Little Brother is all Growd up

Little brother is all growd up now......so big brother can either sit back and be proud or try to learn from little brother. Little brother obviously runs great schemes on O and D, has great game plans and play calls, makes sound adjustments, has superior strength and conditioning and even has an obviously quality QB coach......and on and on........ despite far lower rated talent. Perhaps Michigan's AD wants to be competitive and will make some changes, perhaps not. At any rate it was fun rooting for little brother and watching him do good........Furthermore, the season tickets will be much less expensive!

The earth is not flat!!!

I'm so glad that Borges figured out that the field is more than 20 yards wide and quick plays to the outside help compensate for a young undercoached O line.

Same thing

Borges called a decent first half as he has a few other times, mostly in bigger games. He reverted back to the old Borges later in the game, probably ran out of plays and didn't build off of plays that worked with similar yet different plays to confuse the D. It looked from the stands as if he called "same thing" four times and it didn't work once......Can't imagine why he doesn't make it look like "same thing" and do something different....laziness? I hope that this game didn't reduce our chance of getting a really good OC and he bringing the best in the business with him.......Includeing a S&C coach that can improve on toughness.  For $650k/yr, M can get the best!  As far as the 2 pt. conversion goes it was a good decision followed by a crappy play call. They had a mismatch to the right if Gardener would have rolled right......Perhaps a QB coach could have taught him to recognize this and call an audible. I'm very happy that M did good and it was a great game, however I'm worried that it will result in "same thing".

$650,000

For $650.000/yr (3re highest in college football) M should be able to get one of the best O coordinator's in the biz......One who completely run's the show on O......And, works well with other coaches.  Such as, ah ah.....a QB coach.  Then Hoak can be the $4M dollar figure head (perhaps a tad high for this role), set the culture for the program, and recruit recruit, recruit.........all of which he does well.  He is great at what he does......just needs the right people to delegate to.  The New OC should then be able to pick the O assistants he desires, including perhaps the S&C guy since there seems to be an issue with strenght and toughness that there certainly wasn't with Barwis.

D should be great next year!

The D should be great next year despite total incompetance on O costing the best, and possibly the 2nd best recruits in the country.......sad, sad, sad.......Borges needed to be canned immediately after them PSU game simialr to what was done in other programs to save their seasons.  Should have been done after he proved his total incompetance last year actually!

Perhaps Mattison will help the O

Since Hoke doesn't know O and Borges is incompetent, etc, etc, etc.......Perhpas Mattison was asked to consult and have some influence on play calling........nah, just a fantasy, can't happen........ Borges is too stuborn and pig headed to listen and would rather blame the players.

Great D

We have a great D.......Wish the O would let them rest more with a few less 3 and outs!...Perhaps then the D could score more touchdowns since the O certainly isn't well enough coached to handle that role!

Return to AA

Mattison returned to AA because his daughter wanted him to see his grandchild grow up and be with the family.

Dl Coach

Hoke has a token DL coach role because he doesn't know what elst to do, certainly doesn't understand the offense, and Borges "doesn't work well with other coaches"  And he reports to Mattison as the DL coach.

Four Million Dollar Figurehead

Hoke better realize as others have that if you want to be a figure head and recruiter......No matter how good you are at it, you better have the right people under you.  I think that Hoke know's he doesn't have a clue when it comes to O stragegy so he needs to step up and do what he needs to do as others have done if he wants to be a Four Million Dollar Figurehead, recruiter, and.......oh yeh, D Line Coach........It needs to be done now!!!  It's an absolute joke when the basis for play calling is; do the same thing, ya all go long, and run up the middle.......All of which are done in the simplest little league manner with no contingencies, no stragegy, no corrections.  Hoke should realize the Borges can only play Checkers, not Chess!  December 11th 2013 needs to be the deadline!!!

Borges is out as Auburn offensive coordinator

Two seasons of offensive struggles have cost Al Borges his job as Auburn's offensive coordinator.

Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville told Borges last week of his decision to make a change. Borges has already left the Auburn staff and will not coach against Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31. There has been no official announcement from Auburn, but that will come soon. It is uncertain when Tuberville will name a replacement or who will coordinate the offense in the bowl game.

In going 8-4 in the regular season, Auburn scored two or fewer touchdowns in six of eight Southeastern Conference games and finished 101st out of 119 Division I-A teams with an average of 298.3 yards per game.

Four Million Dollar Figurehead

The Four Million Dollar Figurehead needs more that a Pee Wee coach in order to keep his job long term......."You guys go long" and "Same play" just don't get it and we need a QB coach for God's sake!!!

Prediction:
The offense will

Prediction:

The offense will be ill prepared (only have a limited non functional game plan).

There will be no offensive contingencies.

There will be no audibbles no matter what the NW D gives.

There will be no adjustments if/when things go bad.

There will be no RB's pulling off their block for a quick outlet pass if things go wrong.

We will allow the NW D to stack the box both through our formation and due to the fact that we won't take advantage of what the give us on the outside.

Any RunOptionRead will be run wrong by scheme.

We will not play the last minute and a half of the 1st half because Borges has to pee......buy that man some depends so we can play an entire half!

M's clock management will be abysmal.

I feel so sorry for our players it's as if they are sent out to fight against a modern army with only musket's.

Radon Luck

Borges's few good plays.......even some strung together were just based on random luck.

Northwestern seems to have

Northwestern seems to have great game planning, plays, contingencies, and calls audibles based on the D......So from a coaching standpoint they have a distinct advantage.  Michigan Game planning on O is pathetic, M is just plain not prepared:

  • The game planning is terrible
  •
  • There are no contingencies.
  •
  • M does not build off of plays.
  •
  • Michigan is incapable of adjustments during a game (other than OSU 2012 when they did the exact wrong thing.
  •
  • Obvious audible situations to "no brainer" plays are not utilized.
  •
  • The O Line is not in sync with the O.
  •
  • The strength / toughness of the O Line is questionable.

Al needs to go for so many reasons! He obviously doesn't work well with the QB coach (hmmm), or the O line coach.
A QB coach is absolutely required....One who works well with the OC!!! (not possible with Borges). The O Line coach also must be questioned, but given the benefit of the doubt given that it's probably not possible to work well with the OC. The strengh and conditioning program too must be questioned when other teams with walkon's and freshman seem to "blow mout M's highly rated recruits.

Future?

There is no "bright future" as long as Al Borges is OC

Great Game by the Maize and Blue

Great win

Great Offensive Strategy, though out skilled by every team they play

Great Scheme

Great Plays

Great Adjustments

$1.00 popcorn

$1.00 hot chocolate

Go Clarkston High....Good luck in round 3 of the playoffs.

The Solution

1.) Fire Borges now! This must happen or we will lose recruits. It is actually possible to play call around a struggling OL.....(ie;Indiana).  I truly think that this could be a great team with good O play calling and teaching, but not under some cocky jerk who blames the players.  The obvious solution looking at the D formation was to call an audible but our guys, unlike the average HS team don't know this.  What does Borges get paid again?

2.) Fire Funk now! He obviously doesn't know what he is doing. Other teams have freshman and walkon's who can play the OL just fine.

3.) Fire Welman now! How can all of the lines be so week. With both the D and O lines doing so poorly there must be a strength and cond. issue.

4.) Hire a QB coach both Denard and Devin never reached their potential due to not having a QB coach. Borges' not being able to work with other coaches is another reason to can him (what he said regarding having a QB coach)

5.) Fire Borges now! Should have been done after he threw away last year's OSU game through pure stupidity! Didn't even pass the "man on the street test" on the play calling on that one.

Hoke is a good figurehead and recruiter, but that's it, so he needs the best assistants. Other teams hire the best not a bunch of MAC guys (WAC, whatever), that no one else wanted. Michigan can hire the best. If Hoke doesn't step up to these deficiencies than he needs to go. And my god the clock management is abysmal!!! I certainly hope that Hoke isn't responsible for that. Not playing the end of the 1st half and "leaving it in the hands" of the defense" is archaic football crap......Get Borges some diapers if he has to pee and can't wait until the half is over! Oh Yeh, we fired him, right????

You don't run a RunOptionRead into the formation shown

You don't run a RunOptionRead into the formation shown it's suicide......you call an audible to an out receiver.  Nebrask just knew that the M offense isn't taught to do this or they wouldn't have lined up in the D formation they did.......Almost any team in the country would have destoyed their D in the formation shown regardless of the O lines ability.

Borges didn't teach him

Borges obviously didn't teach Gardner how to do it right!  He doesn't know and Hoke is even more clueless when it comes to offense so doesn't even know that Borges doesn't know. They run it out of the wrong formation....They don't create the mismatch...There's nothing to read!  Instead of reading where one guy isn't your looking at a solid wall of bodies.  If it isn't there when they line up Gardner needs to call an audible for a quick outside pass......oh yeah, forgot there is no QB coach to teach him that....hmmmm

It's ridiculous

It's ridiculous that Borges can't run, or teach the RunOptionRead.......My god all he has to do is to look at some old film, or read "Three and Out" for a good discription.  It's crazy that they peform the play where the QB goes to where the RB was going to go and don't do it out of more of a spread to create a mismatch.......Running it into a "loaded" box is nuts!!!  Does Borges want to kill our QB/RB?  The entire point is to create a 2 on one situation and run to where the 1 isn't......or, at least do a pic on the 1.   I've seen many little leage football teams to a much better job and almost every HS team........Hey perhaps there are some OC's availble at a much lower cost than one of the highest paid OC's in college football!!!

WAC the guys from the MAC.....or, visversa

Refined specifics.......

1.) Fire Borges now! This must happen or we will lose recruits. It is actually possible to play call around a struggling OL.....(ie;Indiana) I truly think that this could be a great team with good O play calling and teaching, but not under some cocky jerk who blames the players.

2.) Fire Funk now! He obviously doesn't know what he is doing. Other teams have freshman and walkon's who can play the OL just fine.

Who is the QB Coach again?

1.) Fire Borges now!  This must happen or we will lose recruites.  It actually possible to play call around a struggling OL.....(ie;Indiana)  I truely think that this could be a great team with good O play calling and teaching, but not under some cockey jerk who blames the players.

2.) Fire Funk now!  He obviously doesn't know what he is doing.  Other teams have freshman and walkon's who can play the OL just fine

3.) Fire Welman now!  How can all of the lines be so week.  WIth both the D and O lines doing so poorly there must be a stregth and cond. issue.

4.) Hire a QB coach  both Denard and Devin never reached their potential due to not having a QB coach.  Borges' not being able to work with other coaches is another reason to can him

Hoke is a good figure head and recruiter, but that's it, so he needs the best assistants.  Michigan can hire the best.  If Hoke doesn't step up to these deficiancies than he needs to go.  And my god the clock management is abysmal!!!

Going to watch RichRod

Need to see some good play calling and the RunOptionRead being done correctly out of the spread........If he was allowed to hire Castile, or if he had Madison he'd still be M's coach and we'd be seeing some exciting winning football.

AZ is playing UCLA rignt now on ESPN

It's simple

1.) Fire Borges now!  This must happen or we will lose recruites.

2.) Fire Funk now!  He obviously doesn't know what he is doing.

3.) Fire Welman now!  How can all of the lines be so week.  Other teams develop freshman and walkon's into better lineman than ours.

4.) Hire a QB coach  both Denard and Devin never reached their potential dud to not having a QB coach.  Borges not being able to work with other coaches is another reason to can him

Hoke is a good figure head and recruiter, but that's it so he needs the best assistants.  Michigan can hire the best.  If Hoke doesn't step up to thiese deficiancies than he needs to go.

QB Coach

As a girl who likes to be clean....Obviously!.....I think that the QB Coach, OL line coach, and what about the strengh and conditioning coach given how bad the lines are.  Aren't they all guys from the WAC that don't even belong in a major program?  WAC them OFF!

Who is the QB Coach again?

Oh yes it's Borges......When I watch practices the QB's aren't getting coached at all.  Don't think that's true on other teams.

QB Coach

Who is the QB Coach again?
