Would it change your opinion if we all just acknowledge that 8 Mile was a remake of Purple Rain?

Those things were moving fast on Ebay yesterday. The school quickly pulled them off their own website but someone obviously got a few cases of the product and was selling them for $26 a mug. They'd sold almost 100 mugs at that price.

My three and a half year old came home from daycare one day and exclaimed, "(name of classmate) is a p*$$y boy." That is not a word that is ever used in our house or really in any conversation that my wife or I have. EVER. My wife and I were simultaneously shocked that our daughter would say that and beyond impressed that she was spot on with grammar and syntax. Advanced vulgarity, +1.
|21 weeks 2 days ago||My daughter is smarter than we are||
Last week, my three and a half year old daughter stated to my wife that she wanted a "kitty" (we're dog people). Trying to let her down nicely, my wife explained that she is allergic to cats (true). My daughter, not to be deterred, calmly stated that she didn't need a mommy. I talked her off that position even though I thought that was some pretty high level processing. Then fast forward a few days...
On the weekend, we took her to the science and industry museum. Among other things, she saw the hatching baby chickens. Very cool. Verbaitim exchange as follows:
Kid: Mommy and daddy, are you allergic to chicken?
Kid: So I can have a baby chicken, then?
Boom. Logic'd. By a three and a half year old. With time having elapsed since the first step in the process. I'm terrified for our future.

I saw a posting somewhere a few months back that spoke to that idea. Essentialy, since 1980 or so, only three NBA teams have won a championship without a current or future league MVP. Those three teams: Pistons - 1989, 1990, 2004.

But you do realize that there are legitimately no qualifications necessary to be nominated to the United States Supreme Court, right? Like none. Presumably you must be alive but even that isn't specified. We have had a Supreme Court Justice that never even graduated from high school. And that was in the 20th century, not the 19th. Now the Senate might prefer some legal background, but it is in no way a "requirement" of the position. It's a weird thing.

No disrespect intended to any of the other fine nominees, but the award should go to Mary Passink. When (if ever) she retires, the award should be named after her.

I think many of us wanted to win that one for Bo. At the same time, I suspect Bo would have wanted us to win that one for Michigan. Perhaps a distinction without a difference.
Reflecting back on it now nine years later, I'm still not entirely sure where one stops and the other begins.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Seriously||
That's a terrible idea. I mean, who would warm up in one uniform and then go back into the locker room on a tight schedule to change into a completely different...dammit Dave...

It says "I've been there" literally. He has been the guy getting ripped by the head coach. See how that turned out? He's now the guy doing the ripping after a long pro career. Not like Harbaugh needs this, but it is instant credibility.
"Well if I just do what he is barking at me to do, maybe I can turn out like he did."

I disagree with your assessment of those plays. I don't know if diving would have made a difference but I don't think Jake missed by that much.

The entire offensive line. Michigan had over 700 yards of offense including nearly 400 rushing. That was the Block Ms at some of their finest. Statistically better than the Rose Bowl in which I'm pretty sure Wheatley is still running.

What you mention, and the fact that you cut and paste your exact response from the original thread on this topic. Are you taking a position here, or simply making the same observation in several locations?

Just out of curiosity, having watched the race live this past weekend and now having watched that video, does anyone think American Pharoah might have been held back a little? I keep having the sense that there was more speed left and the jockey was smart enough to know that you can't do any better than first place.
Now I have no idea if any extra pace by AP would have matched Secretariat's time, nor do I have any idea if Secretariat took the foot off the pedal either(entirely possible though maybe not as likely), but the viewing of everything leaves me with more questions.
Either way, incredible horses and incredible races.

No kid is ever any better than that one time someone saw him and he wasn't fully developed. They stop developing at 13. It's just science, get with it. Why do you think coaches offer 7th and 8th graders now? You know exactly what you're going to get from them in 5-8 years. It's a lock.
Do I really even need this /s?...
