I am a relative old timer. This what Michigan football is supposed to feel like! Few things better than curb stomping Notre Dame.  Go Blue!

These two guys are great

These two guys are great example of of what you want in your student athletes. Bright, hard working competitors who played their asses off! Proud of them! They represented Michigan well.

I completely agree, it

I completely agree, it depends on the kid and their effort and drive. The driven student is going to do well in either setting. Having said that, I think the elite schools are more and more looking for well rounded students, not just academics. All three of my kids went to AP schools in Florida (2 of the 3 public school) and got into elite schools (Harvard, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest).

If he has a pect major tear

If he has a pect major tear it very unlikely.

If Glasgow tore his petoralis

If Glasgow tore his petoralis major, which is what was reported, he will not be back this year

If it is his AC joint,

If it is his AC joint, chances are he should be able to play. He will not be 100% healed, but as long as he doesn't get driven into the ground with that shoulder his symptoms should be manageable by then. Based on his mechanism of injury, I would guess it is his AC joint, or possibly a clavicle fracture.

I was there, it was awesome!

I was there, it was awesome! It was my senior year and my roommate sold his tickets for big cash. Never let him live that down.

Boys in the Boat. Great story, very well written. Unbroken is a great book as well.

That is awesome! What a great

That is awesome! What a great memory. And a great outlook on your fandom. I guess that time and my age has mellowed me. I am and have been a huge fan for 40+ years, but some of the people on this blog are a little too intense about all of this. I am still a proud Michigan graduate and fan! My daughter is 16 now. When she was 10 Denard slapped her hand and she still talks about it.

Looks awesome

Looks awesome! I am going to try it out for Saturday night pre-game meal! Great addition to the blog!

I like it. I would have included the pom poms in unison at the end of the game. That was a sight.

Harvard

My wife and I are both Michigan grads and my son is a huge Michigan fan. We live out of state, so UM tuition is not much less than Harvard. My son got into both as well as many other very good schools. I, without hesitation, told him to go to Harvard as did my wife. It was his decision and he picked Harvard. I love UM, but I think that the number of doors opened by going to Harvard is significant.  He starts at Harvard this fall.

big green egg

I have a big green egg and it is awesome. It is very versatile, you can smoke and grill, just about anything you can imagine. I have had it for 5 years and love it.

treatment of trigger finger

Injections are effective about 80% of the time if done properly.  Surgery is effective and relatively easy surgery to get over. I am an orthopaedic surgeon and I do both frequently. I typically recommend trying injection first.  They can recur with injection, surgery is the definitive cure.

Great thread

My son is 18 and we have been watching UM sports both live and on TV since we both can remember. We did again last night and I did so knowing it was going to be a special night. He will be heading off to college next fall and yesterday I was actually thinking about the fact that next year I will not get to watch the games with him.  It made me sad, but I knew last night was going to be special.  He got accepted at Michigan, but has narrowed his college choices to Vanderbilt and Harvard. He and I both know he will always be a huge Michigan fan. It is in his DNA. I have 2 daughters, one who will watch games with me, so all is not lost.  For all of you with little ones, enjoy these opportunities and memories, they are special. I read this blog almost daily (as does my son), but I rarely comment.  I am always proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.  And I am proud to be associated with this blog.

Great story. I am a father of three and there is nothing better than enjoying great Michigan victories with your kids. My kids are huge fans and we live in Florida so todays win was especially sweet! They grow up fast, enjoy every opportunity you get.  My son who is a huge Michigan fan, got accepted to Harvard on Thursday so it has been a very exciting weekend.  While I would love for him to go to UM (me and my wife are alumni) , Harvard may be too good to pass up.  I am sure I will get some comments for that statement.

I am an orthopaedic surgeon

I am an orthopaedic surgeon and I would encourage you to have ACL reconstruction if you want to remain active doing impact activities. The surgery has a very high success rate if you do your rehab.  Unless you are content with being less active there is no good reason not to do it.  Do your homework and find a good surgeon.  If you have surgery, my advice is to have an autograft (your tissue) instead of an allograft (cadaver).  The studies show hamstrings and patella tendons to be equal (there are some pros and cons of each).  Most surgeons have a preference of one or the other.  Have the surgeon you pick do the one he does the most of (and likely the best). Good luck.

I spent some crazy nights at

I spent some crazy nights at Shock Trauma a few years ago.  Fun, in a somewhat distorted way.  Great place to see a high volume of trauma.  Residency, like any educational experience is what you make of it.  So whatever you get will work out.  Good luck.

top 10 sports memories

No particular order:

Michigan over OSU, Harbaugh to Kolesar 1985.

Michigan vs Duke 2011 NCAA tournament.  Maybe the best UM sports atmosphere ever! (despite the loss)

Redwings over Caps 1998 Game 4 to sweep Stanley Cup in DC.

Pistons over Celtics Eastern Conference finals game 5 1989.

Masters 2004.Mike Weir wins in Sudden Death.

Mark Fidrych 1976 at Tiger Stadium.

Michigan over ND 2009, Go Tate!

Tigers over Toronto Blue Jays Friday night of final weekend of 1987 to get to playoffs. Doyle Alexander tosses a gem.

Michigan vs UCONN, new stadium opens, club level seats, Brock Mealer.

Michigan over  Miami, 1984 season opener.  Miami came in ranked #1

All students at Florida are

All students at Florida are not guaranteed season tickets.  In fact, I think they sell them  in blocks of games, not all of the games.

I will be in Vegas cheering

I will be in Vegas cheering on Big Blue! I have got a good feeling.  We are going to stick it to Sparty and keep rolling!!!! GO BLUE!!!!!

I would agree that the best

I would agree that the best way to go is to buy tickets for single games/sessions from scalpers unless you want to see a buch of games.  Since Michigan is unlikely to make it far in tournament it is more economical than buying the entire package.  If Michigan does keep winning there are plenty of people trying to dump tickets after their team is knocked out.

I have been a Michigan fan

I have been a Michigan fan for 40 years.  I was a student in 1984 when we went 6-6.  That year everybody was calling Bo a dinosaur, saying he needs to open it up and not run off tackle on every first and second down.  The next year was one of his best teams, finnishing 2nd in the polls.  All of a sudden he was a genius again.  The bottom line is you have to win.  It does not matter how, pro-style offense or spread offense.  Four years ago, the same people who are complaining now were saying Lloyd Carr has to go, the game has passed him by.  Again, you just have to win.  I personally, would like to see RR get one more year, three years is not enough.  If he does not show continued improvement then get rid of him.  I, like everyone else, have my concerns about the defense and ST.  I don't think we should let Harbaugh hold us hostage, although I am a big fan of his.  Above all we need to support our team.  Go Blue!!!

I agree. I was a student in mid 80s and was frustrated then by lack of enthusiasm. I am not young any more but just as rabid. I think the problem is too many old fogies. Last year I had a bunch of guys around me who looked like they were ready to keel over any minute. They just don't have the energy to go hard the whole game. Anyway, I will be loud the whole game. Go blue!!!!

Last year after the OSU game

Last year after the OSU game I was walking up State st after the game and some OSU students were walking south against all of the pedestrian traffic of Michigan students.  I am not a student, but a UM grad.  The OSU students were talking trash, of course, as they walked by.  A UM student said to them "Just remember, you are still Ohio State and we are still MICHIGAN!!!!!"  I could not have said it better.  I must admit I have used the line since.  Keep the faith, we will prevail again.  GO BLUE!!!!

did anybody notice that it

did anybody notice that it got louder in the third and fourth quarter after many of the fair weather fans left.  We dont need em, dont come back.  I had a few of them behind me too.  Just stay away if your not a real fan!
