2013 Class

I must admit, that i am quite impressed with the work. That had to take quite a bit of time to complete.

But anyways, it is so great to see how this class is shaping up to be. Realistically, i think we have a great shot at landing SEVERAL more prospects on that list (Ty Isaac, Eddie Vanderdoes?, EJ Levenberry, Laquon Treadwell, Henry Poggi, Dorian O'Daniel, Devon Allen, Ben Gedeon, Donovan Munger) with a more outside shot with (S'ua Cravens, Kendall Fuller, and Joe Mathis).

I would throw in some others (Ethan Pocic, Preist Willis, Cory Luke, and Darian Hicks) but at this time i would have to believe we are probably full at those positions.

That was just a quick run through...anybody i miss?

Butt

At this point, i think Jake is definitely a must get. I feel like he could be close to committing, however i think he doesnt want to pull the trigger to fast incase OSU does come calling. Hopefully our early offer does mean alot to him like he says it does though. I believe this is one of the circumstances where the coaches need to push him to an early committment, becasue if not, his spot could be takin up pretty soon. What do you guys think?

I find this absolutely

I find this absolutely hilarious that high school coaches are beginning to take notice of this. I doubt it, but i wonder if any athletes take Meyer's recruiting strategy offensive.

Going a little off question

Going a little off question 1:

Is NT the same term as a 5-tech?

And if so, is Pipkens and Campbell both slated for that spot? Or if those two guys are the best players in the interior, is there a possibility for one to move to the 3-tech?

And also, i feel like we have some pretty solid talent at LB for the next couple years. With all these guys, how do you think the depth chart will shape up, lets say, in two years?

I feel like Beyer is very underated, and has some hidden talent, however it doesnt seem likely that he will overcome Ryan on the depthchart. Is it safe to say that the SAM is Ryan's for the next 3 years?

At the MLB, you already mentioned that Morgan will most likely move in the middle. In 2013, who do you think challenges him for that spot.

And last, the WILL. What do you feel the 2-deep will be in 2013?

Magnus

I do have a few questions for you Magnus.

1. Is the DE rotation something like this?

Clark at WDE, Black at SDE, and Roh being able to play either DE spot?

2. After next year, who do you see filling in for Kenny Demens at MLB spot?

Is Morgan a WLB all the way? or do you see him slipping inside to the MLB, and therefore paving a way for either Bolden, Ross, etc at the WILL?

3. Who do you project to be the starting defensive backfield next year?

I'd have to go with Countess, Floyd, Kovacs, Gordon, with Avery/Taylor fighting for Nickel and i also believe Jarrod Wilson has a good shot at seeing the field

Aquaman

Do you think he could be a potential sleeper?

And are you willing to voice your opinion on Shallman? I really am curious what others think about his skillset.

Norfleet

I am just curious of what others think about Dennis on the football field. Speaking for myself, I believe he is an absolute playmaker, and i am eager to see him suit up in the maize and blue. His highlight film, in my mind, is very impressive, he has blazing speed, and he is very well built. I believe as a junior he will see valuable playtime and be a solid contributor for us. We can only hope!

Mgoblog Community

I have a few questions i would like to ask the mgoblog community.

First, Do people really believe Wyatt Shallman (if he commits obviously) will end up at RB?

After watching his highlights, i feel like too often he tends to avoid contact instead of just using his size and just running people over. I feel like he dances to much in the backfield. I got the intensions that he would be used as a bull-rushing RB in short yardage situations, and in my opinion im not sure if thats him.

Second, Do you guys think down the road that Desmond King will earn an offer?

After watching his highlights, i must admit that i am pretty impressed with the kids toughness. He seems like a very solid RB, however despite his size, it seems like his future is at CB. His highlight film does not show too much defensive play though.

Honestly i agree i with most

Honestly i agree i with most of the mgousers here...i dont believe Rugters will EVER join our conference...their simply not that prestiges

Agreed

I totally agree, however the only thing on their mind is probably engraving Keenum's name deeper into the record book

Maty Mauk

For those wondering about Maty's skill set and/or character, i have played against Maty (Actually intercepted him! although he was a freshman at the time lol) and have ran track against him where i have talked to him multiple times. First of all Maty's athleticism is greatly underated. And to be honest i didnt think he was all that athletic either until i played close attention this year during track. Dont feel like looking his times and jumps up and what not but im pretty sure he hit a high 22 this year in the 200m and i believe he jumped 23 ft. a couple times in the long jump..and on top of that he was the anchor of their 4x1 team that went to state and the 4x2 that shoulda went but they got disqualified in our regional meet. For his size and being a QB, he can move.

And although one can argue that Kenton's receivers made Maty look good with all the bubbles and slip screens they run, he simple picked apart every defense he played against. Kid has good field awareness and one hell of an arm.

Now i dont personally know know Maty so therefore i dont know a whole lot about his character but what from i do know is that Maty is like any other kid. And from talking to him at track meets, he doesnt really talk a whole lot, nor does he come off as an cocky ass like most probably think he does.

And just throwing my opinion out there...ive scrimaged against tyler occoner and we did a 7on7 against LCC last year...I would definitely have to go with Maty Mauk over Ty Occonor

Yesss he does...everyone knew

Yesss he does...everyone knew he was going to do that move, yet everytime he still got everyone with it. As for our league, it isnt to bad at all..full of future D2 players and addition to some D1 players. As much as i hate to say it....Kenton was just thatttt good this year..It was damn near impossible to stop their offense...and they made nearly everyone just look so stupid because you just didnt know what they were going to do next.

Although i do agree with you,

Although i do agree with you, I think Michigan does have a very good chance of landing him. His Whole family are all Michigan fans, which definitely cant hurt any. Maty also runs track, so here in a month or so i am going to talk to him and see whats the latest with him.

I can forever say i picked

I can forever say i picked Maty off in high school...now granted he was only a freshman and i was only a sophomore...but hey i'll take it!

But this kid is the real deal. Let me tell you, this kid is damn near impossible to sack. and he is very elusive and has a very strong arm. This year (my senior year) they totally smashed us and I think most of it has to do with Maty. They run a 5-wide formation EVERY play, which litterally means every play is on Maty's shoulders. He is pretty athletic as well. He'd be a great addition and hopefully he hops on board so i can say in the future when hes on the field in the winged helmet that I intercepted him back in the day!

I am not on the Harbaugh

I am not on the Harbaugh bandwagon, in fact, i barely know anything about him as a coach at all..just with all the talk about him..i was just curious what offense he even runs because by his stats it looks like his offense is fairly successful

Curtis Grant

I also believe i seen on Doran's facebook that Curtis Grant (the LB out of Virginia and the #8 overall player based on Rivals) commented on Doran's page calling him cuz.....Tom do you know if these 2 are cousins? If so, is there a chance that could help us? Arent we up top for the recruitement of Curtis Grant?

This was a discussion i

This was a discussion i brought up a while back..I believe we have more speed than alot of fans think..heres that post with alot of track information.

mgoblog.com/mgoboard/2010-recruits-high-school-track-stats

Edit: sorry i wasnt sure how to post the thread..Here is what it had

I was introduced to the website www.milesplit.com from a track buddy. On the website, you can type in any person that has run track in high school, and check out some of there personal bests times and what not. Not all meets and invitationals are in the website, therefore some may have personal bests that are better than the ones posted. But anyways, to save you guys some time, here are some players and their times and distances.

Demar Dorsey: 100m Dash = 10.53, 200m Dash = 21.48, Long Jump = 21-4.25 ft.

Josh Furman: 100m Dash = 11.02, 200m Dash = 23.16

Antonio Kinard: Long Jump = 21-0 ft.

Ricardo Miller: 100m Dash = 12.05, 200m Dash = 23.37, 400m Dash = 53.63 (These stats are all from 2008 while he was at Florida)

Jordan Paskorz: Shot Put = 50-3.75 ft.

Marvin Robinson: Long Jump = 22-8 ft., Triple Jump = 44-5 ft. (all from 2007, freshman year?)

Terrance Talbott: 100m Dash = 11.57, Long Jump = 22-0.75 ft.

D.J. Williamson: 100m Dash = 10.66, 200m Dash = 21.64

Some Current Players:

Jeremy Gallon: 100m Dash = 11.06, 200m Dash = 23.33

Denard Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.44, 200m Dash = 21.89, Long Jump = 20-5.5 ft.

Fitzgerald Toussaint: 100m Dash = 10.74, 200m Dash = 22.65

Darryl Stonum: 200m Dash = 21.62

Terrence Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.78, 200m Dash = 21.87

Thanks

That is exactly what i was looking for..thanks i appreciate it

Yes i clearly agree with you, Yes i clearly agree with you, however i am just showing how Rich Rod and Michigan are getting the athletes they need.
Yes this may not be new to Yes this may not be new to everyone, but i'm sure there are others out there who are unaware of how fast he really is. Doesn't seem like his speed gets brought up as much as it should.
Thanks That helps alot, thanks man
I'm lookin forward to seein I'm lookin forward to seein Ray Vinopal in the future, but i believe he may need a year or two. And yes i agree, the news about Cameron Gordon is pretty encouraging. He's got great size for a safety.
Woolfolk at corner I know i'm not one of the "knowledgeable insiders" but i believe Woolfolk will stay at corner. I dont see Christian and Dorsey being able to come in and start right off the bat unless they absolutely have to. I believe Turner had more hype than both of them coming out of high school, and the coaches must have thought he wasn't 100% ready to play last year. I believe it'll be Wolfolk and J.T. Floyd at the corners. I've heard many reports of him improving alot and stepping up to his abilities. However, I think Justin Turner will be right there able to step in when needed or maybe even pass Floyd later in the season. I believe we have plenty of depth at safety for people to step up and play
So out of the players listed So out of the players listed under box safeties, 2 of them will be on the field most of the time? Is this part of the new 3-3-5 defense?
Actually i am not making an Actually i am not making an excuse, i am just stating, if i was taller, it'd help some.
Yeah good point, but he sure Yeah good point, but he sure does have one hell of a long jump. Him and half the guys i listed up above
Yeah i'm sure that doesnt Yeah i'm sure that doesnt hurt any
Nope Nope i'm a die heart michigan fan from ohio haha but yeah that time is excellent. About how tall is your friend? I'm only 5'8", so my height and strides doesn't help me none.
Dee Hart Just Checked Demetrius Hart's times..alright..but i thought they were going to be better. 100m Dash = 11.19 200m Dash = 23.28 Long Jump = 22-3 ft.
wow, really? To get out of my wow, really? To get out of my regionals, you gotta run atleast in the 49's. I ran against one kid my freshman year, who literally just killed everyone. I dont think he got pushed once in a race, until he got to regionals. I think he ended up running a 47 at state.
Terrence Robinson One guy that i am fairly suprised with is Terrence Robinson. I figured he'd have to be pretty quick to be at the slot, but i didnt know he had that elite speed.
No offense, but i'm a junior No offense, but i'm a junior in high school and last year as a sophomore i ran a 51.48 at my league meet, and unfortunately i'm still a few seconds off of state. But for a big guy like him, yes that isn't to bad at all.
Donovan Warren Dang beat me to it..but yes this really hurts..It's going to be interesting to see who steps up next year at the corner spots. Anyways i wish Donovan the best of luck. Overall, i believe he was a good, consistant corner for us and i'm curious to see where he goes in the draft.
West Monroe Over Rummel West Monroe shut out Rummel 30-0. Looks as if Rummel was unable to get their offense going. Anyone know if Carvin plays any offense for Rummel? But anyways i feel sorry for him, but hopefully he keeps that head up and gets ready for michigan. Here's a little article about it: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/preps/79154027.html
I'm been searching trying to I'm been searching trying to find it but i cant find to much. I did find this but not sure if its much help. If not sorry. You could possibly search around on the website though and find somethin. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/79114032.html
Thanks. Thanks. So with that being said..this topic isn't really considered off-topic because its related to michigan recruiting?
Thanks. Thanks. So with that being said..this topic isn't really considered off-topic because its related to michigan recruiting?
I've noticed that alot of I've noticed that alot of posts have the OT in front of it but i've never learned what it meant..any help?
Dang he would be a nice Dang he would be a nice addition to this class. His arm is pretty legit. He may not be the fastest guy, but he is very shifty.
Ray on Facebook I recently talked to Ray on facebook (I am only 17 years old by the way so no creeper jokes)and i asked him about his forty and he responded, "I ran 4.56 freshman yr at and underclassmen combine. Penn state camp clocked me at 4.42. And west virginia 4.47 and 4.47". With that being said, he definitely has speed that some may be questioning. He said he is being recruiting by Coach Gibson, but he didnt tell me which safety position. He also said they told him they expect he'll be competing to play as a freshman, grantted he picks up the schemes mentally. But of course every coach is going to say that in order to get them to go to the school. I'm excited to see him next year. Go Blue.
Drew Dileo Sorry this doesn't really go with this thread..but i am unable to start my own..but Drew Dileo's highschool team seems to be doing well in the playoffs and so do does dileo. I'm curious to see how we use him next year. Anyways here's the article: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/preps/76864037.html?index=1&c=y
hands down..LeGarrette Blount Best punch i've seen this year
