I'm just unsure of why the

I'm just unsure of why the recentness of a national championship is your measure of success.  Yes, I understand the argument with actual hardware.  But something comparable to that is the entire 90's and early 2000's UM football teams that were great and won big ten titles but didn't win the ships.  Were they terrible teams?  I think taking into context both of the teams this year and where they started at, the talent they had on their roster, and their performance through the first 1/3 or 1/2 of the season, they finished amazingly.  I am damn proud of these teams for how much they overachieved.

Nova was the CLEAR #1 team this year and hell, ND was the #1 team in hockey for most of the year.  In these one-game tournaments, a certain degree of luck is needed, especially in sports compared to football (like bball/hockey) where a smaller number of player can so adversely affect a certain game (e.g. Spike Albrecht, Luke Hancock) in a single game.  If I lost it every time a UM won/lost close a game in my fandom (starting PSU game 2005), I probably would have lost it by now and probably be in an insane asylum if I went by your measurement of success and win/loss reaction.  These teams played amazing this year and we should relish in how well they played (2 banners for bball, 1 for hockey) rather than be so caught up in their shortcomings because I personally think focusing so much on your team's shortcomings without giving them credit is like being the Indians fan in Major League

Poole is hilarious.  I was

Poole is hilarious.  I was hoping for another gif where he's seen over someone's shoulder but smack dab in the middle of the screen doing a super cheesy smile

He talked about the B school

He talked about the B school when we talked and was just very appreciative of all the alumni connections he'll have in the professional world and was asking me for advice.  Never acted like he was better or a celebrity, just a genuine guy.  Damn, I'm still emotional just thinking about how unfair of an ending this is for him

Sad sad post. I got to talk Sad sad post. I got to talk to Spike and aside from basketball, he really appreciated UMich for it's academics and was very career-oriented. He's very personable and I wish him the best. He was always awesome to watch on the court
I love Chesson's dance to the I love Chesson's dance to the Victor's right after Rudock's TD. That needs to be an infinite loop gif
Fucking Wagner ftw I think he Fucking Wagner ftw I think he has the potential to be BYPOY and run shit. We have such a good future ahead of us, with the coaching, I'm not concerned at all

Universiade

I'm a Michigan fan living in Gwangju, South Korea where Universiade (World Univeristy games, pretty much the college olympics) is being hosted.  I don't really see this as a loophole.  I thought it was interesting that Kansas was picked as the U.S. representative because I would have loved to see Coach Beilein and co. repping us.  I had some of the same questions and it turns out that there are lot of factors going into who gets selected, mainly logistics (transportation, players' schedules, blah blah blah) and budget because flying to Korea is pretty damn expensive.  As for the players from the other schools, KU had a couple of injuries so they needed to fill out their roster.  I felt weird doing the Rock Chalk chant and really wasn't that impressed when I saw them play Brazil but hey, gotta cheer us.  Thankfully we won against Germany, 82-77 in double overtime and the players were good representatives and had a couple of workshops with students here so they made a good impression :D  aaanyways, can't wait for football season, GO BLUE!

Photoshop wizards plz help

Oh Gloriously Ugly Shorts

Cookie Cookie Cookie

I don't know if someone's pointed this out before but doesn't Dikembe sound like the cookie monster?

GR3 Game Winner Right after GR3 makes the game winner against Purdue, everyone jumps on top of GR3 except for Jon but he slowly walks and claps towards them and flashes the SLIGHTEST smirk. That is my only recollection of his smile. Edit: There is a more visible shot if you wait a few seconds after they all huddle up and then you can see just Jon's face with what appears to be a smile.
J-Mo gif

Someone please gif J-Mo's swag at the ~1:03:00 mark.  Love this team and looking forward to the tourney!

FYS

Was at the game today and it felt goooooood taking little brother to school.  But FYS was just being a little bitch at the end.  I can understand the frustration but that was dirty at the end.  Agreed that they should not be playing tomorrow but I'm not too familiar with the college hockey governing body.  I'm sure the score though made any of our players' boo-boos feel better

J-Mo = Michigan Man

What a guy.  This was a great write-up and it's going to be weird not seeing him on the court in the following years.  Let's hope we send him off in a big way :)

And can someone please embed the RIP Otto the Orange  gif?  Absolutely glorious

Stauskas and Bacari

I remember from Stauskas's The Journey clip that Coach Bacari was giving him crap about having not made 7 3-pointers in a game yet.  Guess Stauskas can give Coach a little flack now.  Let's hope he beats that number again in the tourney!

Love this team

I'm a big fan of The Journey.  I feel like their on-court performance only scratches the surface of their personalities and that these clips give us insight on the high-character kids that Beilein has brought into this program.  Getting to know their background makes me cheer for them that much more.  Time to win the B10 championship outright! Love this team and GO BLUE!

I was thinking the exact same

I was thinking the exact same thing.  Tried pausing it at the moment he released the ball but bad quality video and mouse-clicking don't work well for that.  Game's over and things luckily went our way.  2014 ftw

Crazy Game and Awesome Story

First off, if you don't believe in 2014, get your head out of your ass.  This is the year the prophets have spoken of, those of little faith.  Believe!

Unbelievable game.  GR3 lifting Michigan on daddy's court with an unbelievably athletic (and lucky) shot.  Purdue going 100% from the line until the very last moment.  I can't even.

Story: Going into the game tonight, I knew it was a trap game.  It was away and right after a huge rivalry game, hence the probable rivalry hangover.  Scary stuff.

I go pick up my UM-MSU hockey ticket for next Friday for dirt cheap (everyone in the area should be trying to get tickets for the OSU hockey game and Minnesota and Indiana basketball games because they're cheap as hell because of spring break) at the Union and decide to get Subway because of the whole "eating healthy" thing.  Go to fish, eat dinner, and attempt to do work in the Fish.  Struggle finishing the sub (weird because I used to be able to eat 2 in a sitting) but finish it with 2 mins left to game time.  Game starts, I'm in silent agony at my computer because I'm in the fish with other people but I still can't help from fist pumping and letting out muffled yells.  We go into halftime looking not so good and the indigestion kicks in full blast.  Second half starts and I see the glimmer of hope and just stand pat.  With around 8 minutes left, I notice people behind me watching my screen so I unplug my headphones and we all start watching.  We're going crazy towards the end and the girl next to me keeps on saying that we're going to miss whatever we throw up but I politely stay quiet because fans shouldn't rage at other fans.  Slowly more and more people file in around my computer as OT starts.  Shoutout to J-Mo for keeping us in it with those dunks.  Finally, with Purdue at the free throw line, we have 25 people huddled around my big ass Mac and we have the volume blasting.  It's dead quiet, everyone staring at the screen, and dead silence.  I think we lose the ball from the inbound pass, GR3 catches it, and by some act of God he gets it to go down with time expiring.  The entire student section at Fish goes into a roar and we immediately break out into The Victors.  It's always better celebrating with other Wolverines.  Because it's 2014 and all, let's stay positive: we get down early in a trap game where our top 2 scorers are neutralized and we manage to pull the game out through toughness and grit.

I had subs.  It was crazy.  Go Blue.
