Are they Spartrats abandoning the ship because their captain is interviewing for other jobs where it will be easier to recruit and win?  No one can accuse Dantonio of being dumb and it does not help  that the greatest coach in Spartan history is playing for yet another national championship down in Alabama.

Home Invasion in the Second Degree - MCL 750.110a (3)

Second degree Home Invasion is another Michigan felony and it is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $3,000, or both. Michigan Home Invasion in the second degree is similar to Michigan Home Invasion in the first degree, with the difference being that the third element (involvement of a dangerous weapon or someone lawfully inside the dwelling) need not be met. Therefore, a defendant can be found guilty of Second Degree Home Invasion in Michigan the prosecution can prove the following two elements:

(1) The defendant must either break and enter a dwelling –or– the defendant must enter a dwelling without permission.
(2) The defendant must have formed the intent to commit a larceny, felony, or assault by the time he entered the dwelling –or– the defendant must have actually committed one of those crimes while entering, present in, or exiting the dwelling.

If just one of these elements cannot be proven by the prosecutor, the defendant cannot be found guilty of Home Invasion in the second degree. 

If you want the best kids coming to your camps, you have to have a "scholarship" prize or two for the winners.  This assures you of seeing all of the late bloomers.

You get to assess a kids work habits, ability to compete, character etc.  I think it is brilliant.  Go Stribling!

I think the recruiting services like the sexiness of recruits still in play and rank them higher to draw fans into their sites to see the race to get these top ranked in play recruits.

I GM 2 travel baseball teams while coaching one of them.  My younger team of 12 kids has had 4 broken bones including my starting SS and we are 1 game over .500.  My older team played in a tournament and the day before it started I received a call from a parent stating that his child has suffered a concussion playing hockey and could not play.

When you lose your starters it is tough to compete.  Should we fire ourselves for injuires?  Now if it because of poor recruiting classes and poor managing then that is a different story.

I think they will be fine for a midwest program.  Bigger reality is talented baseball players don't want to play in the Midwest because the season starts in February.

And just say no.

Which cliche rejection works best?

I feel for the Kozan kid.  Deciding on a college should not be this hard.

A) You want to  be in the South

B) You want to be in a corn field

C) You want to play in front of 112,000 fans.

I think one major difference between Hoke and RR is that Hoke seems to be getting really solid walk on players.

You just wonder how he was able to decide so fast when other commits kill themselves for the next year.  Now he can focus on working out and doing well his senior year.

I don't see the upside of banking more than 1 scholarship.  I think in addition to Kozan (thinking in a positive manner) we still go after one of the uncommitted 3*'s.

Either you are that kid that goes to OSU or you are that kid that goes to Michigan.  I get Stanford with Garnett. But I think the 50/50 thing was BS.

If he wants to play in front of 20,000 fans then that is his right.  Soon enough without a Michigan Man coaching, Stanford will go back to being Stanford. 

USC is coming off probation and other schools in the PAC 12 are rising quickly. 

We need Diamond more than we needed Garnett.  That will be the big loss if we can't get him.

In the end, there is a difference between what defines a Michigan Man vs. OSU gangster.

If Armani is about class, dignity and being a pillar of the community then the choice is us.  If he wants free rides on the weekend, tats for autographs, and grades for classes he does not attend then by all means he is a perfect fit for OSU.

Only Armani knows which person he is most like.

He still in theory would have slightly more than 1/2 year left if he made the transfer to his public school immediately after the expulsion.

Some redshirt.  Some leave after 3 years to go pro.  Some leave after 4 to go pro. It will be OK.

Probably a great kid struggling with some huge problems.  Not the least is judgment.  Most alcoholics (multiple DUI's mean you probably drove drunk 100's of times) need to make big changes in their life to beat the disease / illness / demons in their head.

I hate OSU and MSU with PSU not being too far behind but I hope a rout of the Big Ten Teams will not hurt the conference.

At 17 years old life is tough enough without trying to fight to change the system.  Look at it this way.  You live in the City of Detroit.  Nothing works.  Every other day your home or business is broken into and the police take forever to respond because they are over worked.  Schools are failing.  Do you fight to make things better or do you move to  the suburbs.  Judging by the population loss people are moving to the suburbs.   I am sure this kid wanted his old school to be better at football.  I am sure he wanted his old coaches to be better at coaching.  I am sure he had lots of friends.  Guess what?  He chose to go to a school he knew was better in football because he wanted to go D1 instead of hoping to go to D1 with an inferior program.  It is why parents move to the wealthier suburbs when they become successful, it is why parents send kids to Catholic schools and private schools.  Good for him.  He is making it happen for him as opposed to hoping for it to happen with things he can't control 

I don't get this at all.  I can understand transferring after the season if you don't think you are going to play but 1/3 of the way  left with a bowl game / vacation coming up in January

I coach a travel baseball team and realize that everything needs to fit.   There are million reasons and in the end, they need to be happy with their decision on where to play.  It is much better to have a kid transfer than have a kid (or parent of that kid) be unhappy.

If the coaches thought he would be a 4* talent after 1 year of college coaching they would have offered.  They obviously thought he was only a future 2* kid.

At this point eat away and become a DT.  We need DT's and if he is still has any speed left he could be elite (sarcasm intended).  What is another 30 pounds at this point anyway.

I thought they had gone down there to talk to all of the Glenville guys.  I had not heard that he was not as intelligent as some of the other recruits. He has the size though.

If it makes anyone feel better consider all of these defensive recruits special team players for the next two years.

I think defensive recruits do better than offensive recruits when it comes time to tackle players going full speed.

If in 2012 the 4 and 5 star kids don't come the complaining will commence.

I would almost bet that Hoke told Lucien that if Flowers or a suprise WR guy commits like Arnett that he may switch Lucien to DB.  Lucien then told them he did not want to play DB and announced to everyone that he was being recruited for defense.

Dont be surprised to see Lucien commit as a WR once Hoke and gang get two more DBs / Safeties and no other WR's commit.

Dantonio should tell the coaches that even though they say they recruit Michigan, the reality is that only 5 of their 19 recruits are from the State of Michigan.

I think we can dispense with the bullshit myth that MSU goes after the local kids and Michigan only goes after the out of state kids.

I can't tell you how many times I hear that from my Sparty friends when they tell me why they like MSU.

If the NCAA wants to regain any credibility then they will address the SEC's problem of over signing kids.

In addition, USC has made a mockery of their sanctions and that school in Ohio got a slap on the wrist for paying players which is way worse than screwing up the practice logs because you did not have any senior leadership.

Before anyone says that they did not directly pay players remember that they gave memorabilia to players that obviously have a street value, saw all the new tats at practice and had to have seen Prior driving around town in new cars every week.

I think every position we have heard some recruiting news except QB.  Anyone know anything regarding targetted QB's?   While I think Denard and Devin are studs, it would be nice to have some depth.

I think you could take some chances on some Michigan kids and go after Niznek or Lints or some of the other low 3* kids to get to 18 - 20.

I don't see any benefit to staying at 14 or 15 on the if come maybe that there are more kids next year.  Take who you can get to fill the class and then next year only go after and take the elite 4 and 5*

So then the State of  Michigan has no one with 5 Stars if Thomas lost his star in the latest rating.

What am I missing?  We have Countess / Hollowell and Brown committed at DB but we don't have any wide receivers.

Some momentum would be nice.  Also how about offering all 7 4 and 3 star recruits from Glenville.  Package deal and we can send the U of M bus to pick up everyone's families.  As an added bonus we will give the rest of their graduating seniors preferred walk on status.

I don't like the whining about losing 2 star recruits.  Also, our current kicking woes look more like the yips.  Couldn't our psychology department help out with this?

David Brandon is big on having a process so this must be rubbing off on Hoke.  Before talking to recruits you need to look at 5000 hours of tape.  You know thet Rivals, ESPN, Lemming and Scout don't know what they are doing so you have to create that round object known as the wheel first.

Does anyone know if all the recruits have been contacted?  It seems that many are still waiting to talk to the new coach.  Also there seems to be confusion about the blackout period and can you text or email or call?

It is easier to recruit at OSU.  They have more 4 and 5 star kids in their home state.  Their academic standards are easier.  Boosters buy their SWAG and loan cars to them to drive.

Call it snake bit.  Can't explain why but it just was not happening.  RR will go to the next program and be a success.  If you need a specific reason, I think the UofM culture needs a more secular coach.

Of course they knew it was illegal.  The only people who thought otherwise was the NCAA.  If the NCAA keeps this up they are in serious danger of becoming obsolete.  Just another crack that people/corporations like Cuban and Nike can crawl into in order to change the status quo.

Really, how hard would it be to go to the top 5 / 6 divisions and consolidate it down to 4 mega conferences, do a conference playoff game and then do an 8 game playoff (4 winners plus 4 at large) and make a billion dollars to split between 64 teams (not 115)

Too many alums don't support RR.  DB knows he either needs to fire him or extend him so he is not a lame duck.  He can't extend him without an emotional victory because of the alums  and he won't fire him without a commitment from Harbaugh which is obvious has not happened or Les Miles which again has not happened.

DB needs RR to have that victory to shut up the alums.  After the victory RR gets his 2 year extension which gives the recruits the warm and fuzzy to commit.  No victory and RR gets the ziggy and we lose half a recruting class but DB gets to make a slow deliberate coaching change.

Jim if you are reading mogblog it means they will never write books about you at Stanford, you will never have a building named after you and you will never get the chill on the back of your neck when you walk out of that tunnel.

Anyone with half a brain knew it was too windy to be on a scissor lift and kids are too stupid to tell a head coach no.   Brian Kelly if not directly responsible is a least indirectly responsible for being the highest ranking adult out there.

As a much as it kills me to agree with a Buckeye, it kills me more watching the 3-3-5.

It leaves you very vulnerable to teams like Wisconsin.  How many running plays was that in a row you could not stop?  It felt like 50.  They just said we are tougher than you so good luck stopping us.

I think the remainder of the focus of the recruiting class needs to be some DT's.

Not only are you pissing the talented players on the team off but you are also killing the ability to get talented players for the future.

I can just see Dantonio and Tressel saying to the recruits "Son, I cant explain what the 335 is but I see that there defense is ranked 120th in the NCAA.  We (insert school) play the 4-3 and smash the other team in the face.  That other school (insert Michigan) plays that sissy defense.  Don't you want to play in the pros one day?"

Ugh I can't stand it.
